How Was YOUR day, TwilightMom?

Let me come right out with it: JJ and I don't have kids. Unless you count the small-and-furry non-human variety or the larger, still-kind-of-furry and slightly-more-unruly adult-male type, since we share our lives with both. Nevertheless, we were thinking about all you moms out there today, and we're hoping that you all got what you really wanted for Mother's Day: to be left the fuck alone so that you could focus all of your attention--uninterrupted and guilt-free--on Twilight. There. I said it. You know it's true! In fact, I took an informal and statistically invalid survey of two moms who are near and dear to me: Sister Snarky and Sister-In-Law Snarky. And when I asked them how their day was going and what they were up to, do you think they talked about the well-intended-but lame breakfast that had made a disastrous mess in the kitchen, the half-dead houseplant they received from the kids, or the macaroni necklace? Nope! The first thing that they both mentioned was how happy they were to be able to pull the "I'm the Mommy and it's my day!" card so that they could do something Twilight-related and kid-free.

SIL Snarky became a convert without my needing to intervene (although I would have gotten to her eventually...) and she isn't aware of the depth of my obsession. OK, fine, she knows I carry mini-Edward with me wherever I go so I suppose maybe she's on to me on some level (honestly I have started to look at that as kinda normal these days... Is that wrong???), but I haven't exactly come clean with her about the blog. Anyway, she said she started her day with a nice, relaxing, kid-free early viewing of Twilight with her morning cup o' joe. And then she started rereading the series. By herself. In blissful solitude.

Sister Snarky forced herself to take a week off in between finishing Eclipse and starting Breaking Dawn. The lil' Snarks had off from school and she was afraid that they would end up wandering the neighborhood begging for food and attention due to her being engrossed in the book to the point of prosecutable neglect had she started it. Also, she doesn't want it to end. That's right: it took me almost four months to convince her to read the first sentence in Twilight, and now she is deliberately dragging it out (she still refuses to believe me when I tell her that less than 24 hours will pass between the time when she reads the epilogue in Breaking Dawn and the time when she starts all over again. You do NOT want to bet against me on this; I am Alice-like in my certainty that I am right).

Anyway, I hope that everyone had an awesome day filled with lots of self-indulgent TwiTime and of course some time with the fam as well... Maybe a little mushroom ravioli for dinner, a nice bottle of Vampire Red wine, a gift of your own personal mini-Edward from your S/O, top it all off with a little late-nite fanfic reading...

For your Mother's Day enjoyment, I found this video on youtube... Yes, it IS a little long, but it's your day and dang it you get to do what you want for a change! Or just watch it tomorrow from the office or while the kids are in school - whatever...

Enjoy & Happy Mother's Day from Twitarded!

  2. No kids here either. Want them (even if they distract me from my ever increasing and shocking addiction to blogging). My mom (not a Twi-mom but there is hope b/c she likes the movie), told me that my dad told her that she had 12 minutes of mother's day left (this was 6:45pm). She then said he had 12 minutes left to live. BTW, she calls my dad her "has-been" instead of her husband. God willing this is my future.

  3. oooh...you'd be sooo proud! As soon as the cop came in from work, I didn't even have to pull the "card." He freakin offered it! (On top of that...you'll NEVER guess what he got me for Mommy day...NEVER!..I'll post it tomorrow, and you will DIE!)

So, he offered the "card" and I ran to the study & plopped my ass in the lazyboy.(almost made out with my laptop in such haste to open it) Aaaand I've been reading The Submissive for hours...now starting The Dominant.

    Bye-bye now.

  4. Thanks for the good will toward all the mothers out here. I have an 8 year old son who can not relate to my obsession, however he does like the movie and can recite almost every line. Begrudgingly he and the hubby bought me my very own Edward Cullen Action figure for Mother's Day. Edward is now my 'precious' and is not allowed out of my sight. He's going to Mt. Rushmore next week!

  5. I was supposed to sleep in this morning but, of course, woke up when the kiddos came in our room. Since I was up until 1am reading Wide Awake last night my laptop was next to me. I thought about going back to sleep for about one second and then opened my laptop up and read until we had to leave for brunch. At the brunch my husband kept bringing up my Twilight obsession to our friends which I was fine with because, then, well, I could talk about it--ha!

@STY and JJ--thanks for the wish for a nice day. Our first "baby" was our dog (now 14.5)--my husband used to give me Mother's Day cards from him before we had kids--so the furry variety kind of counts.

I hope all you Twitarded moms had a great Mother's Day too.

@Tasha--What did the cop get you?!

@mmMoxie--Enjoy your "Precious"--that little guy sure is a lot of fun. Be sure to get some good photos at Mt. Rushmore!

  6. I LOVED the video! Every time he would run across the screen I got the giggles big time. I loved it. Thanks JJ & STY!

I've barely spent any time with Twilight today. :( Sadly. But plan on getting some well deserved fanfic time in right now. Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

  7. Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes! I actually have a sweet story to share... I was on here last week talking about how my 6 y/o received a mini Edward for a birthday gift and I literally screamed when she opened it and humiliated myself :) Well this moring, my sweet little girl hands me a gift she wrapped herself and it was her mini Edward! She told me she thought of it last week when she got it and it would make her so happy for me to have him. Ofcourse I didn't want to accept it so I told her we'd share it. I just thought it was the sweetest thing because she knows how crazy Mommy is about Edward. I'm a lucky Mama :)

  10. When my kids were little, I didn't mind handing them off to their dad so I could spend Mother's Day my way. Now that they're older and won't want to spend as much time with us as they start to stretch their wings a bit, I enjoy spending the day with them. I slept in which is unheard of for me, I made them breakfast and when we went to the pool, they played while I read Breaking Dawn. And it was so nice that they behaved and I didn't have to say "Behave or I'll bust a cap in your ass!". ;)

  11. Thanks guys, my little angelic monsters (midgets on acid really!) gave me an ipod (of course both got one before me) so after the kugs and hisses had to download the Twilight movie onto it, the soundtrack, just have to get the score now...

But I must say it was cool to have RPattz 2inches from my nose even if he was only 2 inches tall and his head filled the whole screen a bit like "Edwardlina" Your no bigger than my thumb, than my thumb haha Shit, I really have to a grip!

  12. JJ & STY - I almost got on here yesterday to say that when my husband asked me what i wanted to do today (besides NOT having to get up with the baby AND not having to empty the DW), I wanted to lay in bed all day, with fanfic and/or The Movie. Instead it was a nice balance between the 2 "families" - my real one and my Twi family :) DH took the 4 yr old to Lowe's whilst the baby was napping...Momma got a couple hours in of internet trolling (HELLO! photos from the cast party!!!) And I finished up the night with a bath & some rereading of WA. Bliss! Oh, and to top it all off...I ordered my own Pocket Edward on Saturday.

@LuvsMe, that is a true testament to your parenting skills! Not only did you raise your daughter to share (that was SO sweet!), but you've instilled in her the passion for Twilight. Yes, that act of hers was selfless, and to be sure, Edward would be proud!!!

@Tasha - I'm dying. Cannot WAIT to see what the Cop gave you! Also, The Sub & The Dom..aren't they the best?!!?

Happy belated Mothers day...whether you're a mother to kids, hounds, or kitties. Or even just a Pocket Edward :) Ladies rock.

  13. Aww thanks for posting. I actually had a relaxing Mother's day and I hate to say it but at the end of the night, I wanted my husband to get dinner and to take the kids with him because I was too busy reading Wide Awake-fanfic. I finished Submissive and finished Dominant (though I think she's only half way done with that one) and without thinking about it. I did do something Twilight related by sending my kids and hubby away so that I could be alone with my laptop :)

  14. Sorry forget to say loved the vid - especially the glitter glue and the piggy back through the golf course, swallowed my gum at that part!Wouldn't recommend doing that though because then you start that regurgitate reflex and end up looking like a chicken, didn't work it's gone! ha ha Thank god boss is out today.

  15. Amen! You are exactly right! Actually I wasted most of my day reading really bad fan-fic. My kids are old enough to leave me alone and they know I'm totally obsessed. Husband is still clueless.

Reading your blog made me realize what a bad mother I've been. Two weeks ago I sat through my daughter's graduation [her MBA - so proud - really] reading an update of The Dominant on my BlackBerry. My son had to punch me and take the phone away to get me to watch her walk across the stage to get her degree! I hope he doesn't tell her what I was doing! He will be graduating from college in a few weeks, and I swear, if the ending to Wide Awake is posted that afternoon, I'll be missing him walk, too! I can't help myself!

    You have a great blog.
