This is DEFINITELY Cheating on Twilight...

I have a friend at work, we'll call her "Office Snarky" or "OS" for short (I try not to make friends at work; I made an exception for OS and I stand by my decision but it's unlikely you will ever find me introducing another office-friend) who is aware of how obsessed JJ and I are with Twilight. She honestly doesn't get it, and although after much cajoling she had dutifully been lugging around my copy of Twilight, she's not feeling it. I secretly believe this is because OS is actually a guy in a hot chick package - she definitely rated "Man" on this gender test (you have to join to take it but it's a hoot!). Before the long Memorial Day weekend, I wandered over to her desk to get an update on her progress. It wasn't going well...
Office Snarky [pounding my poor, temporarily-unloved copy of Twilight on her desk]: "I will keep reading this if you promise me something will happen! I am two hundred and sixty fucking pages in and not a fucking thing has actually happened! You HAVE to watch True Blood. In True Blood people are having wild animal sex in the first five minutes!"
And she has a point - the opening sequence in True Blood - the HBO adaptation of the Charlaine Harris Southern Vampire Mysteries book series - is sexier, dirtier, and more scorchingly tawdry than anything that ever has or ever will happen in Twilight (why do you think there's so much porn-worthy fanfic out there?). OS had been talking up True Blood for quite some time, and apparently JJ and I had finally heard enough about how hot the show is and set our sights on watching it the second it came out on DVD (in a fit of rage, I cancelled HBO the morning after I watched the series finale of "The Sopranos" [note from JJ: jftr, I was also SO fucking pissed] ). Late last week after a stop at Blockbuster I sent this pic to JJ:
Edward says "I want to go to there..."

About 10 seconds later, I got this pic text from JJ:

(It's fuzzy but you get the idea... Great minds think alike!)

Anyway, we watched. And we really REALLY liked what we saw... The day after the inaugural screening, we had the following exchange:

STY: [whispering conspiratorially into the phone] OMeffingG that show is unbelievable!!! What did you think?!?

JJ: I want to let him do dirty things to me.

Me: I'm just excited that I can lust after this guy and not feel like a pedophile or a skanky cougar!

This is Bill.
Oh he has thoughts, all right: dirty, dirty thoughts...

If you have never watched True Blood, it is possible that you don't find him all that sexy. Yet. But if you HAVE watched True Blood, you've probably already stopped reading and are currently dry-humping your computer. Don't ask me how he manages to pull off this extreme level of sex appeal, but I state this as unequivocal fact (I have eyes too and I recognize the fact that he's not all that traditionally-drop-dead-gorgeous but WOW he's workin' it on this show) .

In short, I am encouraging you to cheat on Twilight with True Blood. Not only that, but it's like I am beseeching you to cheat on sweet, adoring, faithful Twilight with Twilight's hot, no-good-but-drop-dead-sexy older brother who probably doesn't even know your name and is never going to call you again after the deed. I may be premature in posting about this series, as I have seen all of two four (yay they had disc #2 in stock!) episodes, but I can only assume that since nobody here is raving about this show in the comments section here at Twitarded or otherwise saying anything about it that maybe some of you haven't found it yet, either. And I can't waste any time in getting the word out. It's that good. And if you HAVE seen it, please let me remind you how much I hate spoilers. In other words, if you've seen the whole thing please keep the plot details to yourself or take it outside, missy. Oh and I will need you to explain why you've been holding out on us...

One more thing: I KNOW that some of you will have to drive three towns away - in disguise! - just so that you can rent or buy True Blood without anyone finding out about it. DO IT. Get your hands on these discs somehow. Then watch them in secret if you must. I don't care if your own private screening takes place at 3 a.m. out in the mini-van with your ass smushed into the baby seat so that nobody finds out. Just make it happen, and you can thank me later.

P.S. I am not doing a "Twilight vs. True Blood" smack-down here. I'm just sayin' that if you like Twitarded and love Twilight, there's a really really REALLY good chance that you are going to flip over this show. I have enough room in my life for one more obsession. OK, not really; this probably means I am going to have to quit my job or something to find the time I need to devote to it, but I'll think of something...

HOT.

Also completely HOT.

P.S.S. I have to ask: wtf happened to us?! I never used to want to get into anyone's pants like this... Is it ironic that chaste, abstinence-promoting, Twilight has apparently had a massive impact on my libido (and that of every other person who reads this blog, as far as i can tell...)?

  1. I hate to disagree because 99% of the time I am completely in sync with you but I can't recommend True Blood. I read the book (Dead Until Dark) and I thought it was too corny. I watched the first two episodes of the HBO show and I just don't find Bill attractive. At all. In any way. Sorry for the dis. You know what they say about opinions...

BTW, have you seen the shirtless photos of RP????

    ReplyDelete
  2. I read the first book and I thought it blew shit chunks but I do think the show is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. They really took that white trash novel and turned it into something.

And... Gasp! You didn't think Bill was attractive?! LOL, fair enough. I didn't think I would, either. But... I do. ;)

  3. I haven't watched the series yet but am in the middle of Book Three and I'm hooked. Neither Bill or Eric compare to Edward but they certainly have my attention!

  4. What can I say? RP ruined me for any other vampires. I do still think Gary Oldman is hella sexy in Dracula though.

  5. JJ, this series just gets better and sexier with each episode. You have to watch all 12 season 1 episodes before season 2 starts June 14. After book 1 of the series, the books get better. There are 9 books so far. Once other hot supes are introduced in the books they are much more readable.

Ohh. The books are so much better than the TV show. I almost like it as much as Twilight.

  7. I actually just started reading Dead Until Dark and so far, I like it. I don't love it and I haven't been glued to it like when I read some of the fanfic or the first time I read Twilight but you know I have heard other Twilight fans comment on reading the series and I thought 'what the heck'. It sounds like a must for any Twilight Fan and I did notice the DVD at Blockbuster. I'm just wondering if I should read all the books first and then watch the series.

  8. Honolulu Girl - The books and series are pretty similar for season 1, but season 2 is supposed to be pretty different. Since the books are written from Sookie's POV, Alan Ball had to fill in the blanks for the other characters. I don't think it really matters if you read the books first or not, at least you won't be all "that wasn't how it was in the books."

  9. Okay, I'm actually a fan of Trueblood way before I saw Twilight (or read the Twilight saga). We are so on the same page of NOT feeling criminal on lusting after vampire Bill compared to vampire Edward, well at least it doesn't feel like jailbait or something. I mean, everyone knows it's a given: Rob is a pretty sexy boy, but hell, Stephen Moyer IS not a boy and he can be quite steamy and oozing with vampiric sexiness..without the guilt (for the 30-something girls like us). On the ritcher scale of more wanton smuttiness, Bill is at the top of my list..and Edward comes a hair-close second :)

  10. Oh brother I can see this is gonna get all disagreeable - lol!! At least maybe it will distract me - EVER so slightly - from shirtless Robward... I am not dead and we're certainly not oblivious to the biggest day in TwiVille since who-knows-when, but I don't wanna look. And it's been effing nearly impossible. I am practically in physical pain. ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!

    Moving on...

OK, I thought I could skirt the subject (should have known better with you chicks!) but I have to admit that I didn't like the books... Well, for the sake of full disclosure, I haven't read them. But I WANTED to like them and the don't pass my "flip test": I've pulled these books from the store shelves several times and have read numerous random passages, and the writing just doesn't do it for me... But the show?! I am d-y-i-n-g over this show. Hell, I might even get HBO again. Or find someone who knows how to download stuff illegally. Or maybe just has a DVR and owes me a favor. I love this guy. And the other characters. Hell, that one hot dude is naked in almost every scene (not my type but nice bod I gotta admit), and I LOVE all the characters so far.

Office Snarky said it best - I forgot to add this to the post:

The guy who plays Bill broke the hot-o-meter. They aimed it at him and the dials went haywire and just spun around in circles until he whole thing just exploded, and gears and springs flew everywhere.

I never thought the sight of some kinda pasty dude slowly licking the blood off of a head wound would be a turn-on, but wtf can I say: it totally was...

It's not Twilight. Bill's no Robward (see? I haven't even bothered to remember his real name yet). I get that. At the risk of sounding waaaay corny, nothing can replace Twilight for me. I'm not running off to start a True Blood blog. But I will be ransacking JJ's mailbox tomorrow in the hopes that disc #3 has arrived from Netflix.

    ReplyDelete
  11. OME, I wrote about the same damn thing on my blog yesterday! Great minds think alike!! I really like your blog BTW, keep up the good work! Oh, and how can you even think about anything else besides half nekkid Robward??!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I do love me some True Blood and can't wait for it to start back up in a few weeks. After watching season 1 I tried to read the first book but it didn't hold my interest and I think I went back to Twilight. Shocker. My bff has read the whole series and said they get much better after the first. I keep thinking I need to give them a try again!

On a side note, said bff's husband's name is Edward and my husband's name is Bill. That fact still tickles me. I'm easily amused;)

I hate to be an enabler, but you should watch the NM video. It's well worth it!! And ditto on the libido!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. D'OH--BECKY!!! I went to check out your blog and what's the FIRST thing I see?! I should have known better today...

OK I give up I am going to bed and I am blogging with blinders on for the next week or however long it takes for this to die down or until the movie comes out (probably the latter...).

    : )

  14. i oddly enough added trueblood to the top of my netflix queue two days ago. i dont know when im gonna watch it between my constant internet surfing for shirtless pics of rob and constant reading of fanfic, but i guess ill have to make the time somehow.

  15. ohhhhh no, I'm actually cheating on True Blood. I started watching it from the inception, taped all the episodes last year to watch over and over again. Little did I know I would get hooked on damn Twilight. TB is more like vamp crack. More sex, sexy men...and Sookie's brother Jason...trust me, worth every penny seeing him naked. Which you see a lot in TB. I'm barely hanging on till June 14th? when it comes back on .....but I have to admit, my fave in the show isn't Bill or Eric, or even Jason. It's Lafayette.......mmm mmmm mmmmm lol.
At this point I'm so strung out I'll take just about any hot vamp that comes my way!

btw JJ thank you for the comment on my page...I didn't know anyone but me and the friends I bribe actually read the stupid thing. TY again!

    ReplyDelete
  16. The fact that you have mini E "wanting to go to there" makes me heart you!!

Ok off to find True Blood..... oh I think Twilight knows I'm going to cheat on it.....the Twilight commentary just started playing on my itunes....sorry t.light! I'm just going to spend time with your hot older bro for a while ;)

  17. @STY--I think we are living in some east coast/west coast parallel universe indeed. The first disc of True Blood should arrive in my mailbox tomorrw from Netflix AND my hubby just upgraded our cable and tomorrow I will have HBO--love my man.

Anyhoo, I have read 6 of the 8 books and I really enjoyed them--they are really fast reads and full of supernatural beings--some very sexy ones. I even got my husband to read them and he will not touch Twilight. It is not Twilight but I love the sexy bits and it is much more campy and I love the campy. I am really looking forward to watching the series--I have heard it is fantastic. I am pretty certain I will soon be hooked as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. @TwiHexed - You just made me realize I was cheating on True Blood too!

@VitaminR70 - you need to read those last 3 books, book 9 just came out 3 weeks ago

One thing I can say for the Sookie Stackhouse books is that we know we will get one every year in May. The author is contracted for a few more and says she will continue writing them for many years to come. Stephenie Meyer could totally continue the Twilight series in some form.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1. True Blood is worth the Scarlet Letter "A"

    2. I'm completely brazen about my unhealthy attraction to Eric. I seriously have to refrain from licking the TV screen.

    3. Emmett is freakin pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. NOOOOOO!!!!! My eyes! My eyes! You're totally cheating on Twilight!

I'm completely against True Blood for one reason. My in laws. Every time I go there, they go on about the stupid bars where they drink blood and compare it to that "little" show I like. F that. Hence my adversity...

BTW, I missed you girls today. It was a good day. A HAWT good, fantasmic, Edwardmasic day. Damm. You will squeal November 20. And cry. And fall in love with Edward all over again.

    Then. we will talk.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love the True Blood books. They didn't suck me in as much as Twilight and I'm not as obsessed but I really like them. I just finished the 8th book and I think each one just gets better and better. Maybe because Sookie isn't such a whiny brat like Bella tends to be.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not only do I loves me some Edward but I loves me some vampire Bill too! Once I started watching True Blood I was hooked on the whole vampire thing...which lead me to Twilight and well, you know how that one went :) Seriously, the men on this show are AMAZING! I agree...Jason Stackhouse isn't my type but he sure is fun to look at! And I just love Lafayette...he is too funny! Please keep us posted on your thoughts as you girls watch the rest of the season...can't wait for June 14th!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Note to self: must check this out.
You are right. Twiight has vamped up every female's libido between the ages of 12 and 85. Some sociologist or something should study this phenomenon. I don't have time to think about it, I need to get back to my smutty fanfic. (thank you for enabling that addiction so well, ladies)

  24. I'm right there with ya Vamp lovin gals..True Blood Rocks.
I'm quoting Stacy207 by saying it's M for Magically Delicious!
It's all the right kind of hot . It's a Fanfiction come alive. Thank You! I needed that! I just wish there was more than 2 episodes on one disc. ARGH! I may change my netflix to 2 discs just 4 TRUE BLOOD.
"no-good-but-drop-dead-sexy older brother who probably doesn't even know your name" LOL..
And I know this series will get me through to November.
I just hope that NEW MOON isn't too vanilla after TB..I mean Please TWIGOD..let there be a little tongue in the next B/E Kiss.

  27. OH yeah and about Twilight office Etiquette..I had a Non-twilight enthusiast co-worker/friend who was about 3 cubicles away from where i was standing announce - "Hey Kar-They're gonna show NewMoon Clips on the MTV Awards thing" OK these are sales people - i'm surrounded by. They are sharks ! I looked at her and said - "So? why would I care?" Giving her the EVIL eye - like shut the fuck up Byatch or my twi-vamps will drain the MF Life out of you. I went over to her and whispered in her ear "If you ever do that again - I will end you".

I feel like the Cullens now..i might have to move now that my identity has been compromised. Fuck.
At least Liking True Blood feels normal. Maybe it'll be just a Twilight Cover. hmmm.

Firstly, let me say True Blood rocks. Plain and simple. That's all you need to know. Watch Twitards Watch!

Secondly, thank you for creating a spoiler free environment that I cam get my Twitarded on at. I have a feeling I will be hounding you like a creepy stalker for the next 177 days...

And lastly, I am so afraid of spoilers at this moment in time I can't even get myself to read these lovely comments. Sadness. What is my deal today?

    The End.

  31. @codwidow--Thanks for the correction and info. I meant to say I have read the first 7 of 9. Commenting on blogs is challenging when your children are constantly interrupting--I am surprised I can write a full sentence :)

@luvsmesumedward--thanks for the tip on the On Demand. Since I will be new to HBO and the whole digital fancy cable world this is excellent advice. I can see my hubby and I doing the On Demand instead of Netflix so that we are caught up in time for season two to start.

  32. I follow True Blood just for the sex, lol. It's certainly not for Anna Paquin whose southern accent I find completely annoying...and that's probably just for knowing that she's from New Zealand and has a totally different accent.

The guy who plays Bill is HOT. Rob and Bill should have a HOT-off. It would be a close call.

The story is a little goony but I love Tara and her gay cousin. Sookie's brother is hot but is a total sex addict which is not always a bad thing, lol. I bet you guys haven't seen the episode yet where he downs an entire vial of V, have you?!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ok so a friend at work has been raving about True Blood too. She is a fellow Twilight Addict. She lent me the books and was going to attempt to read them. But first, I have to put down the copy of Eclipse I am reading for the second time. So between this blog and my work friend, I am totally moving this to the top of my Netflix Queue!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just discovered True Blood myself and YES, YES, YES, I'm addicted! At first I didn't think much of Bill, but after about 20 minutes, I was trying to dry hump the TV (which is difficult when the tv stand is taller than I am!) He's HOT - and again, I agree, not Robward hot, but he can hold his own in the land of hot, sexy vamp dudes. I'm salivating at the thought of Disc 2 showing up in my mailbox today.... fingers crossed! I haven't read the books but maybe I'll give them a try.... (oh my, I do feel like such a cheater right now!!)

    ReplyDelete
  35. true blood kicks ass...and suki is so cute with bill....not as good looking as k.stew n robward but they make such an interesting potrayal of such a campy concept...i'm a sucker for all things corny n the similarity in the stories...mind-reading..shapeshifting..its fun to watch

    ReplyDelete
  36. In an attempt to see if my love for vampires was universal or only for Edward I picked up Dead Until Dark.
I'm in the middle of the 4th book now and the series is mildly entertaining.
now, I ordered HBO just to watch True Blood and dang! I *LOVE* how graphic it is-it's so gross! :)
and then I realized that I just wish it was Edward who is having graphic sex with Sookie and viciously attacking people..I'd love to see me some hardcore Edward, and I mean that in the most loving way.

thanks for the reminder that the dvd is out!!...hope I can get my hands on it today :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. @SusanaSun - Oh man, book 4 is the best (and book 9 too!). Okay, so I think I have always liked vampires and whatnot, but it had been repressed for so long (Angel, I loved you!), and then came True Blood. Okay, so between FX and HBO I've watched some pretty crazy stuff. Anyway, I wouldn't tell anyone about the show...way too embarrassing. I mean, my BF would yell down the hall, what are you watching (because the sounds coming from the tv just aren't normal), and I'd be all like, oh nothing! After Twilight, I felt that I could talk to Bitches about TB, and she is awaiting it on NetFlix now. I didn't read the books until after Twilight, and yeah, total cheese, and c'mon, I just finished book 1 two minutes ago, why do you have to repeat the whole plot again in book 2 Charlaine Harris? I can understand how there are so many Bill luvers out there since you have only seen the show, but I'm telling you Eric is where it's at (and in season 2 he has short hair, thank the Lord!). Alan Ball has done some pretty interesting stuff with this series (some elements of the books, but some are completely different), and Jason's body...gawd! Anyhoo, this is definitely on my summer watching list. Oh and if you are looking for some true smut, check out the Black Dagger Brotherhood (you just have to stop laughing and the names of the characters long enough to get to the good sex parts, which doesn't take very long). Hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm totally doing the True Blood thing too and for a while I found a lot of similarities in the characters. But with more sex. It's like they took the characters and switched the abilities around. LOL. Gave Sookey all the good stuff.

Anyway, I'm liking it, but I like Twilight more. Bill is okay to me but he doesn't get my motor's running.

And...being from the SOUTH...those accents drive me crazy. Even in LA you'll be hard pressed to find someone speak THAT SOUTHERN and it just seems like they are not southern actors playing everybody's idea of how southern speak should be.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dang! I guess I really need to give Sookie Stackhouse another chance! LOL!

It's official - I will put them back on reading list again. I really didn't find the first one very good but you guys have convinced me to give it another go!

  40. I watched the 1st season of True Blood when it started - before I knew of Twilight's existence (I'm a late bloomer, only on my 2nd round of reading the series, but I am, of course, completely obsessed). I didn't really think anyone should compare the two - except for the fact that they both involve vampires, until I realized that the story was similar - two people from completely different worlds fall in love - and every bad thing that could possibly happen to them eventually does - and their struggle to stay together. Twilight is very PG and True Blood is it's pornographic alter ego. The vamps are WAY scarier - but I like it. It's super bloody - but I like it. So I wonder if we just accept the PG-ness of Twilight because that's just how it is in Forks, we don't necessarily *need* all the sex, gore, and fear, but it definitely doesn't take anything away from True Blood. It's totally worth watching.

  41. I did see one episode and thought WTF but it was pretty good.

I think I'm still in shock from the overload of shirtless Robward from yesterday. Everywhere I clicked I saw ABS and his "Money-Box" I really think too that he wasn't wearing any underwear unless it was a g-string (not that I was staring much). From then on I was in a trance and it wasn't a very productive day to say the least. I really don't want to spoil anything but seriously he was everywhere..... :)

I'm still recovering from shirtless Robward overload from yesterday. Holy crap! Everywhere I clicked I saw ABS and his "Money-Box" from then on I was in a trance. I really don't think he was wearing any underwear either unless it was a g-string (not that I was staring much)... Let's just say it wasn't a very productive day. 46. After watching the first episode of True Blood, I didn't think that I would ever like it - at all. So, I skipped a few weeks, happened to catch one of the later episodes and my mind was changed. I don't love it, but I'm interested. It definitely is...um...intriguing :)

  47. *SPOILERS... maybe?*

Several months ago HBO had the first season on demand and I sat and watch a ton of episodes in a row because they always ended with a cliff hanger and I had to know what happened, and I thought Bill was HOT HOT HOT, but I kind of scoffed at the idea that Sookie could read minds. But after the series started going off on that tangent about "V" I lost interest...it was so lame. But I'm still wondering who did murder that one chick, was it Sookie's boss? and what happens with Bill and Sookie at the vamp bar? Maybe I'm just going to have to suck it up and watch the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I didn't even know what Twilight was until 3/21 of this year. That's when I watched the movie. A day later I bought the books and read them all. Since then my Twilight addiction has cost me about 1k. Esp. after I accidentally dropped my tv and had to go buy a new one.

What I don't understand is why everyone feels compelled to hide their Twilight addiction in public. Good Gods be still, I flaunt mine like a drag queen at a gay pride parade!! (Then again I AM from Cali lol). Is it just that we want Edward all to ourselves and find we are just reluctant to share? And that's why people are afraid to come out of the Twi-closet?

    *TB SPOILER ALERT*
    Read no further!!

I am definitely cheating on True Blood...that was my sunday night. Phone unplugged, pizza on order Fav Tshirt ON. Cuz there is nothing like a sexy Bill Compton popping out of the ground he's buring in and taking Sookie right there in the cemetery, covered in dirt an all. My understanding too throught the HBO rumor mill is that this season they are NOT following the books at all. Someone mentioned Lafayette turning into a vamp...which in my book is awesome as hell! (luvs me some LaFayette!) But I haven't been able to confirm this at all. But then again, I don't worry about it either. I'm a spoiler-whore. It doesn't ruin it one bit for me...it has the reverse effect. At any rate I was waiting for the box set of 9 to come out before I bought the books, but I can see it might not be possible to wait. I'm also waiting for the season one soundtrack because the music in true blood is AAAAAWESOME!! This is an awesome site for more true blood, been a member since the season began last year. http://truebloodwiki.hbo.com/

*YOU ARE NOW PAST THE SPOILER ALERT SECTION*

At any rate, this is an awesome show. I started watching it since my sources at the local newspaper told me that Moonlight was going off the air after only two seasons. And the vamp in that, Mick St. John...OMG definitely worth the watch!!! The show sucked big time, but he was hot.

And thanks to the cover of the new JR Ward book, I am now into the Dark Lover series. So that should keep me (and perhaps you) somewhat busy till November when we get us some more Edward. But he will never look as sexy in gold lame' pants as Lafeyette does lol.

    Ladies, have a Twiriffic day!

  49. Oh I love True Blood! And I love the books too. Definitely make sure you watch all of season 1 before season 2 starts, I had dropped HBO but added it back when they announced season 2. 50. I love this show! Keep watching, it is a very sexy show... you won't be disapointed. The books by Charlene Harris that True Blood is based on suck though. I know, I can't believe I just said that. I never thought I would see a show/ movie and think it is better than the book, but in this case it is true. I only read the first book, but it was a steaming pile of crap! Don't waste your time

  51. @codwidow Thanks! I'm going to rent TB this weekend, gotta put the kids to sleep first.

  52. me and my friend greg were talking last week, and he knows i like twilight, alot! but not the full extent of my obsession, and he was trying to get me to watch true blood. i said ok, and we had planned on sometime next week, freakin weird coincidence?

but honestly, i think ill stick to day dreaming about robward, much much sexier

  53. lol - I just finished all 9 books - bought the first season on DVD - just finished watching it last night. I got hooked onto True Blood after I read the Twilight Saga for the second time. I did not like the first Sookie Stackhouse book ... I think I was to into Twilight - but, I found myself wondering and I ended up reading all 9 books - the 10th comes out in October. It will hold me over until New Moon comes out (o:

  54. I watched season 1 of True Blood when I was desperately trying to get a grip of myself after reading the Twilight series. I loved it, the story, the sex, the bloody gore (and that the vampires can bite without the person immidiately turning). My bf liked it too and we can't wait for June 14th. I've heard the Southern Vampire Mysteries get better after the first book but didn't wanna take a the chance of completely flushing the semester down the toilet (Twilight addiction more than enough to do that) so I haven't read them yet.

  55. I just finished watching the series, but have never read the books.

I immediately loved it. I love everything about the story. But I must admit..Bill has had to grow on me...I dont think he is as good looking as a vampire should be and didnt really understand Sookie's attraction to him...but I like him much more as the series goes on....and talk about smut! The show is "vampire porn"!! I about fell out of my chair the first time i saw one of those scenes. I wasnt expecting it and from then on had to wait until the children go to bed to watch it! I am definitely excited for the next season.

  56. Have to say, I thought I was reading notes from my soul sisters here when I first found your site...I saw this post and now I *know* I have. Slightly (cough) older than you, I've been almost embarassed to embrace my inner SQWEEL everytime I see Edward. But OMFG! I had to order a new vibrator after watching True Blood. And my husband is currently taking a vacation in a nice, quiet place in country for spouses of sex addicts ;)

    Love you guys muchly

  57. Ok, go to http://bloodcopy.com/ It's actually a faux web blog for True Blood but it's meant to be a blog for vampires. It's actualy funny. Thought you guys might enjoy looking at it.

  58. I caught the 1st episode so far. Interesting I think. Definitely worth a gander. Anna Paquin is actually pretty cute as a blond. As for Bill he is sexy in very manly masculine way (like Sean Connery will always be even in his 70's)

    STY this is for you!

    Google: free-tv-video-online.info

tv shows > scroll down to true blood > season 1 > start with the first link (I know it says average but if you push play then pause it and let it load completely it'll play just fine)
This would be a free tv website that you can catch up on all your faves and movies as well. This is where I watched the first episode. Looks like there are 12 episodes all for free!
I watch everything I can't watch around my children this way. Check it out!

Btw, the "innocence" in twilight, for some reason, unleashed the sex maniac in me. Talk about an opposite effect. I haven't read so much smut and been so kinky since my younger experimental drunken phases. I just got finished with the dominant(what's there anyway)... which explains a lot. I know you know what I'm talking about. Damn, could I have anymore of a 17 yr old boys mentality, I think not. Luv ya gals hope you like the link.

  59. Just discovered True Blood and caught up this weekend with OnDemand. It is Twilight's hot, smutty, older brother! Gives this 30-something mom a little adult action. Can't wait for June 14!

Haven't read the Southern Vampire Mysteries books... but I don't think I would enjoy them as much as Twilight. I've read parts of them and didn't really get into it.

I completely agree that the books started off really cheesy and don't even get me started on the covers BUT. . . you have GOT to attempt to read them again. If you think Bill is sexy in Trublood you will be dying to jump Eric and let him bite you wherever he pleases! Trust me!!!

  61. I see I am conpletely out numbered here ut I was tolda bout True Blood from a man at work so I got Season One from Netflix and I did not like it at all. Corny story line, bad accents and the sex scenes are rediculous. I do not have a thing against sex, hell I grew up the the sex, drugs and rock-n-roll age in the 70's. I'm sorry but I just think the whole thing is silly.

  63. {{{sigh}}} i just wrote the longest string of reply comments in the history of blogging and then hit the wrong key and lost them all. it's been that kind or a week.

suffice it to say that you guys are the best and i love your comments and hang on every single one of them, so even if i don't have time to reply until it's waaay too effing late to matter (like now!) please keep commenting, leaving your thoughts, and talking amongst yourselves...

@Pillow Biter - i am sorry your in-laws ruined TB for you - give it another try! don't let them steal it from you like that - it's SO good...

@Scarlet Phoenix - JJ and I are sharing the rental discs and I think you prevented a fight last night after she was able to find the next episode online using your link rather than taking back her disc while I was mid-way through it. You may have single-handedly saved Twitarded. Thank you!!!

@Danny - can you order from amazon??? The whole first season set is dirt-cheap (yes I ordered it)... like under $40. If you can't and really want it and are a semi-trusting sort, email me. I regularly ship overseas for my eBay biz (more of a hobby than a money-maker but still...) and have a PayPal account (and an honest face - ask anyone and don't judge based on my avatar - lol!). Figured I should be a good enabler and offer...

  64. I know I'm really late on this, but I just had to proclaim my love for the SVM series (Team Eric :-D). It will never take Twilight's place, but, it made my withdrawals from Twilight less painful. It also has good sex bits in it, and that's always a big plus to me. As for the show, I haven't seen it yet, but it arrived from Netflix last week and as soon as I can break away from my trashy books, I'm going to watch it.
Oh yea, your "I want to go to there" comment made me *heart* you even more. heh

  65. I recently watched True Blood S1 for the 1st time. I'd been looking forward to it actually, I knew it was of an adult nature (nudge, wink) I was at my GF's place, she'd got a copy & there we were with our stash of fine wine & chocolates & getting ready for a nite of heavy viewing. Unfortunately we too busy gas bagging & Rpatz lusting that I didn't pay attention to TB. All of a sudden there's a human female being rogered by a vampire WTF, I had to do a double take! Don't get me wrong I love Twilight but I'm happy there is a grown up version..hee,hee.

  66. OK - TB Lovahs..
Did a little research and found out that Sooki & Bill are a real-life couple! Have been since their hot hot audition..but they kept it underwraps. They came out in Feb 2009. So - of course then I think of Rob & Kstew..I like her..I know some don't - but I do. OK - enuf tweeny (which I am not) fantasy for now. Robsten gets my vote.

  67. Didn't read the books, but in the series found Sookie a more fleshed out (and likeable) character than Bella. Twilight (at least on film) is all about drooling over Edward/RP, however with TrueBlood, I find myself hot over Bill, but then feeling like he's being a douche and Sookie should dump him. But I find gap-toothed blondes irresistible. So, anyway.

  71. Okay - so upon your recommendation - I netflixed disc one ... I'm not sure if Bill does it for me or not - in some lighting he looked pretty great, in other lighting in looked like that creepy neighbor I use to have ... but, WTF with the endings of each episode?! I only got one disc and both episodes ended with a big cliff-hanger and now I've had to move the other discs up on my queue so it's the next thing I get --- and I decided f!ck it and sent back slumdog millionaire without watching(I've had it since March), so I can shot gun the episodes.

I may have to read this books ... drat.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ok I started watching it again. All of season one is free on demand.

All I've got to say is the beginning of episode 9 ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Bill and Blondie Vamp Guy... H-O-T!!!

  73. I've been wondering if I would come across a mention of True Blood whilst combing through the archives, and low and behold...

My interest was piqued a few weeks back and I decided to check it out, so I scoured the 'net to find free ways of watching it. Sidereel.com - if like me, you don't have HBO access. True Blood is so my new guilty pleasure. Never read the books and not particularly interested, but I will definitely keep watching the show.

I won't partake in a True Blood vs. Twilight smackdown either, but I will say there are some eerie switcher-oo similarities.

  74. Omg, i immediatly checked if i can get it here in germany.. but (what did i expected..??) i can´t get it yet here on dvd. f**, always the same shit here. It´s like the release of New Moon - Rest of the world 11/20 Germany 01/07/09 !!!!! It´s horrible. So i have to catch my BFF and get a flight to London..uhm could be worse :-)
So let´s see if i get this show somewhere...

  76. i oddly enough added trueblood to the top of my netflix queue two days ago. i dont know when im gonna watch it between my constant internet surfing for shirtless pics of rob and constant reading of fanfic, but i guess ill have to make the time somehow.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
