Radiohead, Twilight & Robert Pattinson (What More Could You Want?)

So laaate last night I was scrolling through our referral pages (i.e. "how you found us" - all I know is there are some seriously pissed off 13-year-olds who were looking for all the breathtaking details on K-Stew's new 'do and instead they found THIS), I stumbled across a Google search that someone had done for "Robert Pattinson 15 Step". I was all excited that someone had been searching for JJ's fanfic AND Robert Pattinson at the same time! Then I remembered the whole Radiohead thing [which honestly was lost on me for a nanosecond - D'oh!]. Can you blame me for only thinking of JJ's fanfic? And btw, she is hard at work on Chapter 4 as I write this. In fact, as soon as I finish up here, I am heading to the basement to check up on her... Anyway, it led me to the great video below!

I LOVE Radiohead, and although their song is played as the credits roll, it is still one of my faves from the movie, if not my absolute favorite. Let's just say that JJ and I sat through the credits in the theater. Several times. I have no idea why it wasn't included on the soundtrack (and speculation abounds!) but I already owned the In Rainbows cd, so I was ok with that. It just requires a little more disc-switching to get my Twilight fix - one of my many daily doses - during my grind of a commute.

Enough rambling from me - enjoy this video put together by the talented Gilmorequeen!

P.S. Radiohead/Twilight image from HERE - she has jpegs for each song/artist on the soundtrack (and this isn't the best one...) - check it out!

  1. I LOVE this song and I adored the end credits when the intro rolls and evil badass Victoria lets her hair loose and the outtakes from the movie are shown. If there's one thing that Catherine Hardwicke knows how to do is to put a little edge to a movie. Yes, Twilight the Movie was so cheesy I had to bring my saltines to the theater, but truth be told, that soundtrack was good and 15 Step was a hit.
Makes me want to watch the movie again. Who am I kidding, like I need an excuse to go watch it again.

  2. Good stuff. Love that song and I too was a tad pissed it wasn't on the soundtrack. Great thing about iTunes, I just bought it and added it to the soundtrack on my iPod. (Course it took me months to figure that out, I'm such a moron sometimes! Duh!) I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when those tweens stumbled onto this debauchery! Priceless.

STY - get cracking that whip! Can't wait for Chapter 4.

  3. I L-O-V-E me some Radiohead. And Twitardedness!

My top Google search words: "schpill and twilight tree"...a new today was "twilight gay edward"<--not cool.

    P.S.
Most of my referrals are from you! So muchas gracias!!

  4. I love this song. I totally forgot about this.I'm going to download it. Personally I'm a die hard Muse fan and my absolute favorite music/movie clip is the baseball scene with Muse in the background. ARGGGGHH! LOVEZZ IT. I will say they did a great job with the soundtrack and so I'm curious to see what New Moon's soundtrack will be like and what great new bands I will discover

  5. I Heart Radiohead! I saw them at (the disaster that was) field day festival many years ago, and can you imagine how to disappear completely being played as a warm mist was floating through the air because it rained all day... but happened to stop raining when radiohead stepped on stage. It was Perfect!

Did you see 15 steps on the grammy's with the marching band? Fucking awesome! And I agree it was a badass ending to the movie.

I won't speculate as to why they weren't on the sound track.. but I'm just going to say this Radiohead should not be affiliated with paramore or linkin park. There I said it.

love you girls, I can't wait for chapter 4!!

  6. Dude! 15 Steps at the Grammys was insane!

It true as lame as Twilight was in some parts, it was great in others. ie some of the music, prom (swoon*sigh) and the end credits were ah-mazing!

Well I only own the soundtrack on vinyl and I only ever listen to side 2.....but yeah that would have been great on the soundtrack!

Hope the NM Soundtrack is awesome!

  7. Love Radiohead! That song was just great in the movie although it could've been IN the movie, not on the final credit roll...
But then again, thats just me.

  8. truth be told (and don't hate me for this) I'm glad it wasn't included in the soundtrack.

I LOVE Radiohead. I honestly didn't like the movie at first sight. So I was relieved that the song wasn't included in the OST.

If not for the outtakes and interviews and the making of Twilight (and Rob's charisma, major AHEM!) I wouldn't even give a sh*t about the phenomenon.

BUT IT IS a phenomenon and I'm hooked til this saga is finito.

I still think Radiohead is above this so called realm of Twilight.... so sue me. Oh yeah, and I did add 15 steps in the Twilight album in my iPod. so there!

  9. I loved the way they used music in the movie - we watched the trailer SO many times that "the baseball scene" and that muse song (which - no offense to muse! - we started referring to as "Super-Massive Whack-a-Mole" because it kinda sounds like that's what he's saying...) that it was ingrained in our heads by the time the movie came out. And we were ok with that. JJ has that as my ringtone on her phone and it still scares the bejesus out of her every time I call. Which is a LOT.

I had mixed feelings about the ending sequence with Victoria - it was impossible (from a book pov) that she could have been there without anyone knowing, but I suppose the movie took a few liberties like that so I tried not to get too hissy over it. The song made it worth sitting through, though! And of course they threw some other cool stuff in there...

And Radiohead probably did decline to be included on the actual soundtrack release - but who knows - I don't think there's any definitive answer to that question out there. Probably because interviewers were reluctant to ask Thom Yorke about Twilight - lol!

On a side-note, I saw Radiohead play live a couple of times back in the early 90s - once at a tiny club in Philly as part of some radio station's holiday show - it was just Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood playing acoustic guitars and they were all nervous and smiling (it's true! they used to smile!) and cute (and I wanted to jump Jonny's bones - man you could cut glass on that guy's cheekbones - mmm... but I digress!) - saw them again at a club in the city a little later. I haven't seen any of their larger shows but they are awesome live!

P.S. You're welcome Tasha (and "gay edward"? lol)!! mwah!

    : )

  10. Let's just talk a little bit about the New Moon soundtrack. I'm totally in love the the Incubus song "Earth to Bella" (parts 1 and 2) and I think it would be perfect for the movie! Who the fuck do I talk to about this?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, bloody brilliant song!

I was thinking...(yes, I know dangerous for me) The lovely Robward could be your #1 fan he could be checking out your blog, laughing his head off etc, etc. Not to make you paranoid or anything, but just think JJ you could be walking in NY and Robward spots you and says "If I say hello to you will you please try not to faint, puke, hump my leg (ok, I added that one) fart, or fart with an explosive Mr. Brown running down your leg?" haha You never know you might have to start dressing incognito.

    :O

  12. speaking of how people find you check out some of these for our blog:

boys are smelly snap bracelet (yes sometimes they are)

Fan fiction twilight dom sub (say whaaa? This has to be twitarded's fault! :D)

I love being shirtless (who doesn't!)

I wish my husband would sparkle (don't we all!)

  13. But don't panic! You 'll be ok! Just pray to the heavens that you won't do a vag fart that sounds like a pidgeons mating call and attract all the pidgeons in NY city!! ha ha Now that would be a problem, ton of bird shit raining down on the two of you!! How friggin lovely would that be? But look on the bright side that's supposed to be lucky, not too sure who for though?! Ok, I'm shutting the hell up now before I get a kick up the arse. haha

    :)

  14. Just adding: 'Time is Running Out' by Muse is my vote for a MUST on the soundtrack.

  15. I just have to chime in here and add doesn't everything look so much better in Black and White? I loved watching the footage from Twilight in the video above changed over to B@W--it makes their make-up look soooo much better. Ha!

  19. (formerly Anne) THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! I am a loser and don't know much if anything by Radiohead (will you still heart me?!) And I LOVED the song in the credits. I had bought the soundtrack before the film came out & was SO disappointed when I came home & sifted thru the tracks to see what the name of the credit song was...and no dice!! So, many months later, I can thank Twitarded for not only making me laugh daily, but for introducing me to Radiohead (and finally putting to rest the mystery of the credit song!) THANK YOU! Off to iTunes to purchase it now...
    xxoo

PS- STY, what are the rumors about why this song isn't on the soundtrack? It seems like one of the few Twi-rumors that I DON'T know about?!?!

  20. I could be wrong, but I'm quite sure I read an interview with Catherine Hardwicke where she mentioned that Radiohead had respectfully declined to be part of the Twilight soundtrack due to the fact that the song 15 Step from In Rainbows was originally available as a download from the Radiohead website for which you could name your price when you downloaded it. Since the song had been potentially available for free, the band felt it wasn't right to have the song included on a soundtrack that people would pay full price for.

I'll add that I've lurked here for ages, and you people have me in stitches constantly. I love you for that. And since I'm an old git who's flabberghasted to have found herself obsessed with Twilight and have loved Radiohead since the Creep days, I felt compelled to finally leave a comment. Hope that's alright!

  21. Do what I did: create a "Twilight Soundtrack" playlist on your iPod and just include it. Saves the scrolling!

  22. @Madbrit - that's MORE than all right! Thanks for [finally...] leaving a comment - we love comments!! And interesting - that was one of the more plausible explanations I read about regarding why Radiohead wasn't on the soundtrack, but I didn't realize that it came via CH - that would have made sense (well, more sense than believing anyone on wiki answer, anyway - lol!).

@Anntastic - of COURSE we still [heart] you!! And I think that the other "rumors" were more along the lines of "Radiohead didn't want to be on a compilation with the other acts" but they don't really seem pretentious like that so I am glad to hear that that's [probably] not the case...
    : )

@KG - is THAT why JJ never enswers right away?! Well, at least it makes sense now - lol...

@VitaminR - you know, I couldn't put my finger on why I liked the black&white/sepia-tone thing and now you figured it out for me: no disturbing mauve lipstick - yay!

@Team SixPack - it is AMAZING some of the stuff people search for, for sure, bunch of weirdos out there... not like us normal folk! : )

@Limey 1996 - ok i am DYING of laughter here - you kill me - but Robward's OUR biggest fan?! I like the way you think! Er, until you get to "Mr. Brown" anyway - lol!

@Honolulu Girl - I'm with you - I am DYING to see what's on the New Moon soundtrack!! How early did they release the Twilight soundtrack? I only know that it was pre-movie-release, but I wasn't so wrapped up in everything like i am now and I didn't buy it until later...

@Latchkey Wife - when you figure out who to talk to, make sure you let JJ and I know - we got some things we want to discuss, too!
    : )

  24. ha ha, I bloody love this sight!! Where else could you mention vag fart and pidgeons in the same sentence without anyone batting an eyelid or having a heartattack! ha ha Erm, shit - CODE RED, CRASH!! haha

    :O

  25. Ok I'm dying to know what everyone thinks of the rumor that coldplay might be on the new moon soundtrack. The rumored song is "scientist." But they're also saying it might not be that song but coldplay will be on the soundtrack. I like coldplay's first two albums... but over all they're not one of those bands that makes me say oh my god! over and over.

    So what do you think???
