Leah's Not a Bitch, She's Just Misunderstood

Not too long ago I was having a great Twitter conversation with Tasha and The Danger Magnet. We were discussing our opinions about Leah and Rosalie and DM thought it might be good to do a post on it.

So she did and she was kind enough to ask me for my two cents (which is always gladly given) and I was more than stoked to comply.

I even took off my Jerkface hat and replaced it with my Thinkin' one, which is a little rusty from lack of use but I managed to get a few thoughts out there

And I didn't even say fuck, not even once (which, as you all know, is a fucking miracle). Go me!!

So hop on over to Danger Magnet's site and check out the Scorned Women of Twilight!

  1. I need to find my Thinkin' Hat. I think it could be hiding under the couch. Congrats on that. I nearly got arrested at the library once because I have the misfortune to be stuck in a place where there are pussies galore. Okay I'll go check it out now but first I think check on that hat because it might need to be thrown into the wash.

  2. that was awesome, very well written and such good points. I had never seen them in that light and I think they have moved up higher as favorite characters, above Bella (not that that's saying much I never did like Bella).

  3. It's a great post JJ. You and your Thinkin' Hat are loverly, as are both Annie and Tasha. :)

  4. Great thoughts, JJ. I always felt for Leah and couldn't imagine having to listen to my ex emote over the new love in his life... fated, imprinted or what not! I was glad she didn't end up with Jake (too trite and predictable) but I too, felt she was left hanging.

And I loved the Rosalie character in Wide Awake because I thought she had the depth and complexity lacking in Stephenie's. In Twilight Saga I always felt Rosalie was more interesting than she let on, but she relished being a bitch to keep people at a distance.

  5. Great topic JJ. I really like Leah but you know I was going back and forth about how I felt in regards to Jacob and Leah being the only girl. You really do feel bad about her even though she's not a main character.

  6. A Thinkin' Hat and a Jerkface Hat?! I'm jealous...I only have a Dunce Cap.

I guess I never really compared the two characters, but they obviously have some shit to talk about over beers (well, assuming vampires could drink beer and they didn't want to vomit and fight at the first smell of the other). I always thought of them as strong and opinionated and sometimes that gets classified as bitchy. But if you've got a solid reason to be an eye-clawing she-bitch, I might not hold it against you (as long as it's not my eyes you're going after).
