Twilight Bait At The Office: Check

Outside of my professional life in my other real-world endeavors, I am pretty well out of the Twi closet... Fine, so I haven't pranced downtown in my "Team Twitarded" shirt - yet, but the one with just the Twitarded faces has made a few trips downtown and I even wore it to a friend's book signing last week, outing myself a little bit more to friends who weren't previously aware of my Twilight obsession or my obsession with blogging. Plus I attach a Team Twitarded pin to whatever purse I am carrying on any given day...

The office, however, had remained a relatively Twilight-free zone. Sure, I have occasionally brought my books to work (some pipe dream that I might actually take a lunch break and read for a bit - never happens!), but I've always left the dust jackets at home. In my defense, I usually remove a book's dust jacket while I read it because I'm weird like that and don't want to mess them up.

It IS possible that while approaching my desk for something work-related my boss has caught enough of a look at my computer screen with the 36-point blog header font screaming out from it that he could have put two and two together if he so chose [and by "two and two" I mean "my remarkable drop in work-related productivity and the not-coincidental increase in time spent on the time-suck that is my Twilight/blogging addiction"]. But if he's paying attention, he's not letting on, and I'm going with it. Don't ask, don't tell.

Between you and me, I would love to find out who the Twitards are at work. Because I know they're out there. I just haven't found them yet... This may be due in part to the fact that I am not all that friendly or sociable and kinda keep to myself at work [I know! I can't believe it either!]. Regardless, while I have no hard statistics to back up my theory, I feel comfortable speculating that if there are fifty women in my office (give or take - who can keep track these days?), at least a small handful have found Twilight, and one or two have REALLY found Twilight. Hard. Like us.

Because I am too socially inept to just ask and too much of a wuss to wear a Twilight shirt or my Bella bracelet to the office, I started outing myself at the office on a very small scale. Really, really small... One inch, to be exact:

Notice me... Notice meeeeeeee!!!

Surprisingly, nothing came of that... And honestly if anyone HAD noticed it, I probably would have wondered why the fuck they were scrutinizing my stuff closely enough to see it. I might as well have hung up a tiny sign that said "If you can see this, you are standing too close to my stuff. Now back off!"

Time to up the ante...

I was in the card store a few weeks ago and came across some of the Hallmark Twilight greeting cards. Actually, just one (which is probably for the best, because they're freaking expensive - who can even afford presents anymore when cards cost so much???): the Halloween card. It features Edward's mug prominently on the front and plays Twilight music when you open it! I bought it. I even cleaned my desk in order to display it prominently! Office Snarky stopped by one day when I was working from home and wanted to know if I had quit, I cleaned so well... Because I want people to see it! I am considering this my Twilight bait. Actually, it's a bit of a trap, because if someone should decide to pick it up and sneak a peek when I'm not at my desk, the music is going to totally out them and I'll run back, throw a net over them, and shout "ah HA!!! I KNEW it!!! You're Twitarded, too!!!" Er, or something like that... HR might frown on the actual use of nets; everyone is SO sensitive these days! Sheesh...

"I'm staring right at you! You cannot ignore my smexy stare..."

Even if nobody notices it, cares enough to ask about it if they DO notice it, or knows exactly what it is and stays mum, I am still thrilled to bits to have this little bit of Twi on my desk. It tickles me to no end to be on the phone with some important client and then glance over to see Edward glowering at me. He glowers at me in a good way, mind you - his glower says "STY, shouldn't you be home reading Twilight right now? Possibly watching the DVD??? Maybe reading some fanfic? I thought so..."

P.S. As much as I adore having this card on my desk and know that it is the first in what is sure to be a revolving Twi-themed seasonal tableau on my desk, I have a beef or two with Hallmark...

WTF's with the five o' clock shadow??? I have expressed my feelings on this topic before; it's definitely a pet peeve. Twilight vampires shouldn't have stubble!!! This is also the first time I notice a resemblance between Edward's 'do and the straight-up hair of this Twilight tattoo -

Noooooooooo!!! You're ruining it!!!

  1. Well, you are officially ONE INCH more "out" than me...
Does this mean you are playing "just the tip" with your Twitardedness?

I don't even have the ONE INCH Be Safe button. I have no outward Twi stuff to beam out to the other closet Twitards. I just take way too many bathroom breaks to check Twitter, my blog, your blog, really anyone's blog that has some new Rob shit on it. I am now regretting my use of the word shit...
Anyhoo, I am sure my co-workers think I have an endless bladder infection with my frequent bathroom breaks but if only they knew...

  2. I openly discussed Twilight to a few female coworkers, encouraging them to lose their life for a week and read it... but when I knew one too many things about the movie (so I've watched all the extras and the commentary... SO?!?!)... I got a little bit of crap... so I now mostly keep the fact that I read fanfic compulsively, and check your blog daily under wraps except to the S/O - who taunts me mercilessly.

I hope you find some fellow lovers... but just remember, that if they are lovers, they may have already been obsessing over your blog:)

  3. I am out and proud about by Twitardedness. A little too much actually."Hi, I'm Becky and I love Twilight, do you want to talk about it?" Everyone I know is aware of my obsession. And I think they are all very tired of it. I may actually start losing friends if I don't tone it down. That is why I am so glad to have all you guys so I can talk about it all I want and no one is rolling their eyes at me. At least I hope not!:)

  4. btw - this is the third time I've checked the blog for updates today... NONE of my fanfics have updated in over a week and November just seems so far away:/

  5. Sorry - it was me above... the one who still doesn't have a cool Twi name.

Ahhhhh, love it. That is definitely something I would do too hahaha

  7. Curiously the only peeps to comment on my RPattz gallery at my desk are guys...they're all like, so is that your boyfriend? And of course, I'm all like, hell yeah! I did show off the new moon minis to some of the ladies in the office a couple of weeks ago. They all laughed while they traded looks with each other like I didn't know they were thinking I'm crazy, but whatever!

  8. Ooooh I must have that card! I don't have a desk, or a job for that matter, to out myself at. It's no secret that Im Twitarded though. Everyone knows. I named my daughter Esme for fucks sake! (DH is such a good sport).

I loved your translation of Edward's glower btw.

  9. i'm still pretty deep in the twi-closet amongst my friends. i'm awaiting the twitarded "just heads" button so i can add it to my bag with all my band buttons so only fellow twitards will catch the signal...

  10. I am so glad to hear that there are other office Twitards out there.... my office knows that I loved the books and the movie, one of my other coworkers and I watched the New Moon clips, and talk about getting shirts for the premiere...but I don't even talk about new CRAZY obsession with fanfic...it atleast keeps me from going crazy ti'll November. I am going to stay in my closet at work....or I may get rocks thrown at me....aka not being asked to sit at the cool table at lunch...

  11. LOL... A friend just bought me the Edward card as a belated Birthday/Halloween card. I loved it!! I was so excited I started blushing and bouncing in my seat. Glad you love it too! Keep up the great blogs--you gals always make me laugh! :-)

  12. Loved your post! I have been "on the prowl" for anything Twilight lately in the stores so I can come up with ideas for my trip to Idaho to see the opening night! So far only books, key chains, calendars, candy, posters, just about anything and everything except wearables! Still looking on that front...

Meanwhile on Amazon I found the Be Safe bumper sticker, but my dh says, "How will people know that's Twilight related?" I said, because.... it's Edward Cullens handwriting." He was ROFLAHAO... He can't believe that I know the handwriting of a fiction person.

I asked for a Silver Volvo too... but that's another story... Hehehe...

However, I am SERIOUSLY thinking about buying a Twitarded shirt!

I bump into Twilight addicted peeps all the time...I only send the worthy ones... Hahaha

  13. My work knows about me. In fact my marketing team called me to ask me how to explain our Halloween Costume contest because I'm the Vampire expert. Um, WTF? Ok, so I gave them a line and they loved it and now they think I'm a bigger uber Vampire lover.
As for outing myself to the world, ok. So yesterday, I took my mac in for repair and you know how Apple is set up. All the the tech boys are in the back. So he props my computer up on the table and starts it up. I have New Moon Edward as my background so 1) My husband was VERY embarressed and probably felt unmanly for allowing his wife to have her Man on her computer and 2) All the tech boys just kind of stared at it. I don't think that realized it was New Moon but you never can tell who's a fan these days. There was some awkard silence before he grabbed the mouse. Just the thought I'd share.

  14. Wow. I'm impressed you "forked" over $4.99 for the Halloween card. *yes, I frequently crack myself up*. Since my birthday is the day before, I decided to hold off and wait to see what Twi merchandise I might get as presents. I have absolutely nothing in my work cube that would indicate my obsession. My idea of "outing" myself was to ask that the birthday board (names & dates of October babies)have a Twilight theme. Not the the most creative display but it works. I tweeted a pic, I was so proud. Sadly, there is only one other lady at work who has read the series but she is no Twihard. No one I know personally is as hardcore as I am. So going back to a comment I read on the Mel/Cindy drama, can we use Twitarded as our eHarmony to find a local Twihard BFF?

Love you guys. Oh and congrats JJ on the closing.

  15. My close friends and family know how bad my obsession is...to an extent. Only 2 know how many Rob/Robward pics I have saved on my computer lol.

I'm slowly coming out to the world. I purchased my first piece of Twi-paraphernalia yesterday. Buttons. I now have a one inch Edward button on my purse.

I may or may not have thrown the one of Bella out the window while speeding down the highway.
    (hint:I did)

    Love you guys :)

  16. Hubby has yet to get a clue that when I tell him "Be Safe" it's from Twilight. He loathes my addiction. Oh well.

  17. I thought I was fairly out of the closet at work due to my revolving desktop backgrounds and the fact that one coworker and I talk about it incessantly when she's in the office. (she's not Twitarded, just scientifically fascinated by the phenomenon of grown women – well, you know...)

But yesterday I informed my boss I would probably be flying to LA in mid-November for the premiere. You see, I'm quite certain I'll win one of the several contests for the event because the 16th is MY birthday and Rob on the red carpet is JUST what I asked for! Skip the fucking bow, I'll unwrap it myself. She looked at me blankly and said "I have no idea what you're talking about."

    ReplyDelete
  18. You are so brave STY! I kinda want to "out" my-twi-self at work too, BUT, I'm worried that if I do it will open a whole coffin full of bats. WHY you ask?
    1. I may get jealous (I don't want to hear some 20 year old skank goin' on about how she wants to do MY Edward!)
    2. I don't want to get arrested for assult (I may have to beat the crap out of any Team Jacob/TayTay fans while defending the honour of the most exquisite creature ever created).
BTW-you are brilliant with the dust covers! I am always soooo careful when I read so as not to damage them, when all along all that I had to do was take them off! Brilliant.
AND... that tatoo is TOTALLY CREEPY!

@kelekia--Ha! I'm going to have try that. My hubs has NO CLUE about my 'obsession"

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Suzpetals--That's hilarious! Seriously though, if you do get Rob for your b-day, I hope that you'll be a nice girl and share with your twitarded friends!;)

  20. Well..I outed myself and a few others accidentally on facebook...

I sent something Twi-related to a friend, and it ended up on her home page, at which that point she "shared" it...then the unthinkable happened..

Someone commented and said..."you're actually into this stuff???"

    Woah...that was harsh.

Actually..that was my exact comment under her statement...just "Woah"

It sparked a total war, and people were jumping out of closets all over the place, defending Twilight... and it was awesome!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Love it. I've just moved to LA from London and have therefore been meeting new people, making new friends etc etc. With each new friendship I have to work out when's the appropriate time to drop in the 'twi. I've been living in hope that I might find someone to share my obsession with but so far....nothing. But it all changed today. Went out with a new friend I met only recently and got to talking about Halloween outfits and I casually dropped in to conversation that I might dress as a golden eyed vamp this year....just to test the water....and.....thank the sparkly heavens, she's just as obsessed as moi!!!
So that's it, a true friendship is born, my husband is happy as I now have someone I can 'talk it out' with - as he calls it. Oh and I now have someone to come with me to Westwood on November 16th.
And we spent 30mins today discussing the pros and cons of Breaking Dawn being a 2 part movie. And it was only 30 mins because we ran out of time. I think I have a new twi-bff. So happy.

  22. Oh gurl, don't be skerd. Listen, I didn't out anyone - I started the damn craze at my office. Everyone was so freaking hooked, that we're officially bringing Twilight the movie to the office for a pizza and wine viewing in order to prep for the New Moon premiere!

I'll tell you, when you do discover the underground Twitards in the office, the productivity you're already lacking, is going to get even worse. At least when people walk by your cube you don't have to pull a muscle trying to minimize your screen in a flash. You can display your Twitard screen in all its glory. You may even have co-workers who want to check out your blog.

On second thought...maybe some things are best kept separate!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Do people wear special shirts on Halloween or dress up in costumes at work? If so, you could wear a Twitarded shirt, carry a Twilight tote filled with books and Mini Edward, cover yourself in head to toe Twilight. That would put you out there for sure. And, if someone made fun of you, you could just say your costume is a Twilight fanatic tween.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am loving the card! i actually sent that to my twisoul mate. She called me laughing hysterically. I have slowly begun to add Twilight decorations around my office. I cannot stop myself from talking about it and correcting people when they have misconceptions.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ Mrs P, I also had a Twilight/FB mishap with less of a positive ending. When my Twilight plasters (band aids?) arrived I posted a pic of myself wearing one Nelly-style across my cheek in front of one of my giant Rob posters. I deliberately posted in onto a friend's wall so none of my other 'friends' would see it. Nope, had no idea it would still add to my photos and display to all and sundry. Oops *blushes*.
Thankfully I don't have a job (full time mum) because I can just imagine what my desk would look like, I struggle to keep my Twitardedness under wraps. STY, you're very controlled!

@ awcrap, I can't believe your husband doesn't know, I'm pretty sure mine wishes he didn't. I do make some effort, I have 'Rob Corner' behind the kitchen door, it usually stands open (unless I'm home alone!) so you can't see all of the Robalicious goodness behind it, doesn't help though when the two year old slams it shut and stands waving and saying 'Hello Bob' (still doesn't say Daddy hehe!).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Most of my co-workers know that I love Twilight but they do not know the I am unconditionally and irrevocably Twitarded--total difference. I job-share so I share my office and a computer with my job-share partner so I don't feel like I can have anything in my office. If it were only my office I would have something--it might be subtle but I would totally have something.

I still have my small shrine in my kitchen with Pocket E and my photo manip my friends made for me (before FaceInTheHole made it so easy). Of course now I have all my "Just Heads" Twitarded gear too. I am out in real life but definitely in a "Just the tip" kind of way.

@Honolulu Girl-That would have totally embarrased Mr. VitaminR too. Mr. VR's eyes get a lot of exercise from lots of eye rolling. Lucky for me he is a total freak so his eye rolling doesn't count for much with me ;-)

  27. I work from home, so I have a few Twi things around my desk. My current desktop photo is rpattz from that new British Mag, an Edward sticker standing up by my computer, and "I heart boys that sparkle" pin in the cork board.

I friend of mine was visiting awhile ago, (she knows that I liked Twilight, but not that I'm Twitared) anyways, she saw the Twilght soundtrack on vinyl sitting next to my record player, she points and says "you paid $29.99 for that!" To which I replay..."umm yeah! it's the Twilight soundtrack on vinyl!" (duh!) .... she kinda gave me the stink eye/look of umm your kinda dumb. Ooooh well.

So going to buy that card as my bday card to myself! and that tattoo still makes me scared. :/ *shutters*

  28. @VR. Not only do I have Edward New Moon hogging up the Mac but I also lot's of semi naked photos of Eric Northman, Jason Stackhouse, etc.. on the desktop. I'm working on a video and I kinda panicked that they would see all that too and think I'm a porno producer or something.

  29. @Stan...."Nelly-style"....I will have that image in my head for a long time...HAHAHAHA!!!!! I love it...I get all my good catch phrases from this place.

  30. Dude.. i'm totally outed.. i have pocket edward on one side.. whichever twilight saga book i'm reading on the other.. and then twitter and numerous twiblogs on the bar thingy down the bottom.. screw em, i love it. they think i'm insane.

    ReplyDelete
  31. First of all, that tattoo totally makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Secondly, I'm more out of the closet at work than I am at home. I have my Twitarded coffee mug AND a vendor I work with for cinema advertising just sent me a old Twilight movie poster which I will be hanging in my office the first chance I get!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Ang - c'mon - not even a 1" button?! You can doooooo it!!! I was totally proud of my "Be safe" button - aaaaand I think it may have opened the floodgates! It's only a matter of time before Shades E is dressed up as Santa. It might be "just the tip" now, but you know where that leads! : )

@Lauren - it has occurred to be that sooner or later, someone I know who doesn't know about my Twilight obsession or the blog may find it - and me! Yikes! Posting a pic or a vid was a bit of a leap for me, but I figure it's a biiiiig world out there and the chances of someone happening across me here are slim-ish. Right? Right??? uh-oh...

@bierbeck - I usually test the waters with my casual friends and don't totally out myself until I am SURE of their interest... I made the mistake of "prematuring outing" [sounds diiiirty] once and spilled the beans about the blog and then the person said something like "What's his name again - Edmund?" and I almost died. My close friends think I am nuts (except JJ - natch! er, well, she knows I am nuts but for other reasons...)

@jaydey17 - DO IT! I can't tel you how amused I feel every time I look at that card - it still slays me a week later. Work can be sucky; this makes it less sucky. For under $6, it's worth it - lol.

@Fire Crotch - good thinking with the minis - they can win over anyone! well, maybe use "old mini-e" - new mini-e is kinda scary looking - might not have the right effect!

@Abigail - get OUT! you named your daughter Esme??? Now that's out! I bow to your outness... What kind or reactions do you get from people??? It IS a beautiful name, though, so there's that! I think she needs a little "Crawls With Vampires" shirt or onsie... hehe

bbs folks - i'm gonna try to keep up on comments today but it might take me a while to catch up!

    : )

  33. Two of my coworkers know of my Twitardedness b/c of their proximity to my desk/cubicle... it’s hard not to know. I have a few very small movie posters on the base of my computer…like 1”x2”…and every time I gasp, laugh, chuckle, or sigh my coworker neighbor hollers over the cubicle wall and says “Twilight??” …and most often (read “all the time”) she’s right! =)

I have three buttons on my gym bag...inconspicuosly placed - Twitarded, pic of Robward, and Twilight Addict. They're just screaming out in the locker room for someone to find them and make the connection. But nothing yet.

    I’m here, I’m Twitarded, and I’m proud!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Everyone at my office knows I'm a lil Twitarded. Hell, I brought Pocket Edward into our Emergency Operations Center for a photo op for fuck's sake! When the most recent New Moon trailer was bootlegged, I called a staff meeting in my office with the primary objective being to watch said-bootlegged trailer. I consider it team building!

  35. I work for a small publishing company with 39 employees, so I outed myself long ago. I don't think it had anything to do with the Twilight calendar, the Robert Pattinson screensaver, or the Pocket Edward, though ;)

@STY - I have three copies of that Halloween card already. One for home, one for work (winking at Edward as I type this), and one for the co-worker who begged me to read the books after I had seen the movie. I truly feel I owe my Robsession to her.

@VitaminR – When I came back from vacation a couple of months ago, I walked into my pod and was greeted by the Edward and Bella blanket hanging from one of the overheads above my desk with a copy of my face covering Bella's, as well as a framed manip of me with Rob. (I haven't been KStew thin since high school!) My podmates had chipped in and bought the blanket, so they are total enablers.

    @suzspetals - Hilarious!

P.S.: WV is fachabl, and I love Peter. (That doesn't sound quite right, does it? LOL!)

  36. I work from home and am still totally closeted. S/o knows something is amiss. My fanfic obsession is escallating. I figured out this week how to download fanfics onto my Kindle and now IT IS ON. I went to sleep at 2:30 a.m. and got up at 5:00 a.m. On the plus side, I am now much more productive during my working hours now that I don't have to read fanfic off the computer anymore...oh, wait, except I am supposed to be working right now....GAH!

  37. Only Sister Banshee knows how obsessed I am. Everybody knows I'm a bit crazy anyway, so it probably wouldn't make much difference if I did out myself.

You guys are so lucky with all the merch you can get! I need to go online to get anything decent. Stupid non-Twi-obsessed country...*grumble*

ps. Whywhywhywhy would ANYONE get that creepy tattoo?!

  38. @fanficzombie--Love the name . . .so true!

I am getting a new computer bag at Christmas which will be all button-y friendly (currently bag is leather. Love y'all, but not putting little holes in the red leather). New bag, on the other hand, .. . . well, definitely a Twitarded pin (like, duh) and then I have been scrolling through a list of best little pins. I like them snarky and insider . . you know, "I run after silver volvos screaming bite me" and "That's how I like my men, cold, dead, and sparkling"

What other good ones have you seen? Must not mention Twilight explicitly . . I want to be out, but not mockable by strangers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @RunsFromReality - you totally took the words right out of my mouth!

@FanFicZombie - fabulous name!! Describes how I feel right now. I woke up earlier then needed this morning so I could finish a chapter of WA! AND..get this..before work I PDF'd 5 chapters today and emailed them to my google account so I wouldn't have to go online and click the damn button saying:

"yes I'm over 18 and I pray to god that this button doesnt set off an alarm in my IT department notifying them I'm about to read Twiporn."

I got the shakes when I did that yesterday...I didn't want to push the button again today! Love PDFs! So now I'm pretending to read contracts while really reading about unicorns (shameful).

W/V - "comel" ...not even going to comment. It speaks for itself!

  40. @mthep - good idea! we DO need buttons for the very closeted! Lemme see what I can do!

@Mandi - ONE person at work knows about my obsession, but she doesn't share it, sadly. I only know of one other person with a book or movie obsession of any sort, and sadly, she's into those hardcore slasher flicks - her reaction to the release of the trailer for "Saw VII" (or whatever it's up to now - lol) was similar to my NM trailer response. Er, but not really on the same page...

@Megan G - I am totally counting on a Twi B-day card! Even if I have to buy it for myself - lol...

@Hungry Vampire - I think we are ALL on the lookout for anythng to sustain us until 11/20 - thankfully it won't be long! If you DO go for a Twitarded tee, I've been told that must run small and the ones JJ and I bought are small-fits, too (esp. the "Bella Brand" tees - natch!).

@Honolulu Girl - funny! I felt the same way when I had to have someone from work look at my home computer! Mr. Snarky seems to take it all in stride, thankfully! : )

Purpleg8r - yup - happily Forked it - hehe! And JJ & I are trying to think of a way to link up/"match" Twitards before NM release - haven't found any way to work it yet but if anyone has any suggestions, please let us know! We've checked out a few options and none seem to really fit our needs...

BBS! gotta go shuffle around some work papers for a few & keep up appearances...

  43. My son outed me on Facebook, so all 276 of his friends know, gah! It resulted in 26 comments, the most ever on any of his posts. Most of them were in the theme of "Poor you, your mom's one of those Twihards", but a couple were surprisingly knowledgable and are obviousely closeted, heh, even one of them being male. There's no turning back now. We are having a birthday party for my husband in a couple weeks, and I plan on wearing my Twitarded apron, or I might wimp out and just leave it prominently displayed in the kitchen. Either way, I'm curious to see if anyone actually knows what it is, especially since it doesn't specifically say Twilight.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have the Oscar Rob poster hanging on my file cabinet. You can't miss it when you walk into my office. My co-workers talk about Robward like he's someone I actually know. It's funny until they say something super embarrassing in front of the entire staff. Whatevs...I bring it on myself! lol

When I took off for November 20, I actually said in the e-mail to my boss that I needed the day off to go see New Moon. She just wrote back "Ok. Make sure you put it on the calendar." I heart her sometimes!

And yes, that is a picture of me at work with an astronaut helmet on. Long story. But if you look closely, you can see the poster in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am so ridiculously out at work it isn't even funny. In fact, when I got in to work today I had an email from the big boss wanting to know if I took a picture of Edward at the closing.

She's also hinted that I need pyschiatric help, too. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have my Twilight mini-Edward and my NM mini-Jacob standing in front of my candy jar on my desk at work. Most folks don't notice or care to comment. Those that do notice, hang out with me so they are in on the whole Twitardedness and occasionally they move around the minis thinking its funny - it is and it isn't - it takes time to get them to stand in the proper position. I wish they would realize that.

However, back to point, one of the directors who never paid attention to mini-Edward before came running over when I was setting up NM mini-Jacob and point blank asked me, "is that what I think it is?" Not giving me a chance to respond, she reamed me a new one because I didn't have a mini-Bella. I explained that I do have mini-Edward and mini-Bella in plastic at my house. But she didn't care & she actually got me to feel bad for about 15 seconds that Bella wasn't represented.

  48. Well I don't work at a job per say but My blog and my FB page really outs me as a twitard, much to the dismay of some of my friends who think I am insane, I just think they are jealous myself. Between Blogs and my fan fiction addiction I don't really get much of my own work done, if only I could find a good balance.:)

  49. @Meg - My co-workers already know I'm taking that day off and why :) I get to watch an early screening of the movie because one of the managers at our local theater is the son of a good friend, but I'm still going to the midnight showing with three friends, meeting five co-workers for an early afternoon showing, and going to an evening showing with my nephew. Can't wait!

@JJ - That would mean we're all insane, then. I can think of worse things than being locked up in the Twitarded Psych Ward with the rest of my Twitard friends ;)

  50. Top Ten Signs I am "out of the work closet":

#5 - I never bother to clear my browsing history anymore unless I've read a particularly lemony fanfic.

#4 - I have New Moon wallpaper on my desktop and a sticky note attached to my monitor that says, "Make fun of me and I will give your computer a virus."

#3 - One of my coworkers and I meet every afternoon at 2pm in the break room to discuss all the latest Twi-related developments. Anyone is welcome to join but #4's sticky note applies.

#2 - I once brought in a plate of cookies I baked, shaped like baseballs, apples and graduation caps.

#1 - I filled out my vacation request so that I can go on the Twilight Fan Cruise next summer and under "Reason for Time Off" - I wrote "Vacationing with Vampires". No further explanation was necessary.

COME OUT OF THE CLOSET AND JOIN ME. (Unless Edward is in yours.)

  51. I bet they don't have that card at my local Hallmark, but I'm gonna look anyway. Probably twice a week until Halloween. And I want badges. And RPattz. But I don't think I can find him on ebay. Sigh.

@fanficzombie: is your avatar the cover from Pride and Prejudice With Zombies?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @twichotic - That's how I read at work too. If I bookmarked fanfic sites on that computer I'd never get anything done! The pdf of Midnight Sun is permanently in a folder there in case I get stressed and need a little Edward pick-me-up.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @suzspetals - I have Midnight Sun's pdf in my blackberry so whenever I have to sit and wait for someone I have something to read. =)

    ReplyDelete
  54. ok no waay i am gonna keep up but...

@Rob's Bitch - don't hate!! think how happy you will be when you have that card with Robward glowering at you in his smoldery way! you love. admit it... Maybe the bank account hates... That i totally understand (says the person who just spent an obscene amount of $ at nordstrom & hot topic last week...). : )

@Mary - yup, THAT'S out! lol! I didn't use the word "vampire" in my request, but both JJ and I did take off the 19th and the 20th... Given that JJ's boss kinda knew she went set-stalking earlier this year, i think she's gonna figure it out. I have the distinct feeling that JJ is in for quite a redecorating of her office when she returns on Monday!

@Twichotic - I'm still waiting for someone to see my buttons, too! but so far nothing. : ( maybe we need bigger buttons?? or more observant people. one of those.

all these "accidental" outings on FB make me that much happier I don't have a personal FB, btw - too much potential for chaos there! don't want my worlds to collide that much, i don't think. : )

    ReplyDelete
  55. @ Banshee713 yes, it is..that seemed appropriate on a several levels... :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. @ STY...agreed...I won't let my worlds collide at this point. My facebook is twi free, sad to say (but not really)...although a fb friend posted the other day that he wanted to join a secret society...it made me chuckle and think twitarded thoughts..

  57. As with other commentors, my co-workers think I'm this side of nuts. I have my twilight lunch box proudly displayed (along with my Gone with the Wind lunch box that states Frankly he doesn't give a damn). I also have my sweetheart box, magnets, a pic of lovely rob, a pic of me & Alex from vampire baseball, twilight key chain, twitarded button.... Throw in a smurf and some hoops & yoyo, it's like a kids bedroom instead of a work cubicle. = ) I love it

I also read parts of The Submissive at work too, so my love of twilight and all things lemony are out of the closet big time. = )

  58. while I haven't really "outed" myself at work, it's no secret that a handful of us are Twitarded. My google search engine is the Edward Google though. Home is a different story, although I try to keep it to a minimum there as well for the sake of my poor neglected husband. My cherished and much-read books are prominently displayed however on my bookshelf in the front room! I have a mini-shrine...

  60. I'm semi-outted at work (Rob calendar, Team Twitard button, and drawn out Twilight-related conversations with anyone who notices said items) and my recent goal has been to turn one of my co-workers over to the Twilightside. I'm doing it slowly as not to scare away my prey, and so far she's read the books and watched the movie multiple times. However, we're still not far enough along for her to know the true depths of my addiction. I'm so glad to read the above comments and know I'm not alone in my obsessiveness!!

(my veri word "forkers" seems confusingly appropriate)

  61. @ Fanficzombe- First, I just bought the book your avi is from so you should let me know if it's worth reading. And I too am a fanficzombie (started BBtB last night-kinda creeped out right now), I am right there with you sister!

@STY - Lots of people know Esme's name from Twilight, oddly they don't all assume I am a Twihard. They're like, "oh, have you ever heard of Twilight?" BWAHAHAHAHAHAH. Sometimes I say "No what's what?" just to fuck with them.
My other two children have very unusual names as well so it fits right in. It was a name we considered with my first daughter as well, it's been in our "cool baby names" book for years. Being Twitarded pushed it over the edge and luckily DH liked it BETTER after he sat with a very pregnant me to watch the movie.

  62. my 'outness' at work started out as 'just the tip', but it didn't take long for it to be the whole thing over, and over, and over...(focus...dammit)over the last few months it seems like every week something new is up at my desk my cube has collected magnets, pictures, CD's, & candy. my most favorite sales manager gave me a pocket e and bella bracelet!! i've even put in my request for time off 11/20 and in the calendar to my boss it says NM premiere!

  63. I became a stay at home mom 8 months ago, but before that.......my co-workers were the ones who turned me on to Twilight. 4 of the 5 members of the Saga Mafia on Twilight SagaPalooza are my former co-workers including the boss, aka Sweet Buns!

  64. Yep, totally out of the closet.
    - 2 poster on the wall in my office ( yes I got some stupid comments but I'm already over it)
Actually I found myself really brave that I hung up this posters... 2!! not one but 2!!

    - I *cough* forced every woman at work to read Twilight (which makes me pretty proud)

-I have a copy of Twilight on my desk, you never know who comes along and might need a Twiinfection ...

    Cheers!

  65. @STY: I have this mental picture of you walking in your office to find out a small Twitarded altar from your "in-the-closet" twitarded co-workers. Or something like they did to JJ cubicle :)

About the 5 o'clock shadow: I was just seeing this large picture of Edward and Bella kissing in Volterra and, yup, the 5 o'clock shadow's still there. Maybe they can pull it off by saying "it's there 'cause when he was bitten he had a 5 o'clock shadow and now it's just a 101 year-old 5 o'clock shadow...". Ok, I've confused myself. It's that tattoo.... *shivers*

@Lauren: try the vampire name generator at http://www.emmadavies.net/vampire/
It was on an older post here at twitarted. That's where my name comes from :)

    Kisses.

  66. And I haven't send for pins or any other Twi merch yet cause postage is way to expensive (something like $20 for a 1.50 pin???!!!).
But the twitarded merch (by the way; it was about time!) has made the decision for me.

I know how the bill is going to look like; I'll pay more for postage and packing than for the items *awtch!*

Oh, I just feel stupid for not knowing sooner...

  68. I feel so lucky! I work in an office of 52 people and 17 of us are women. The majority of us have read the Twilight series and frequently discuss it at work. A large group of us are leaving work early on Nov. 20 to see New Moon. Pocket Edward sits on my desk and I have a running countdown to New Moon on my work IM. My wallpaper is New Moon and my screensaver is Edward. Men often stop by my desk and call me a pedophile. I laugh and tell them he's of age. It's a great feeling to be openly Twitarded and I hope all of you can "come out" too!

  69. Hey all - this is off topic but I need to get on my soapbox for a second. I get most of my Rob-fix at robsessed and just saw that she's being ripped off. The company that used her site name when naming the 'exclusive' video of all things Rob is now claiming that they're partners. Go see the details and then make sure not to buy the video (Rob doesn't get a dime) and help Gozde out in preserving her reputation. Okay, I'm done.
    Thanks fellow Twitards and Rob-lusters.

  70. @suszpetals - It took me all of two seconds to give a KStew finger to the "Robsessed" documentary when I first heard about. I don't click on any links to info about the documentary because I refuse to give the creators and media outlets any hits.

I will wait for my preordered movies (The Haunted Airman, How To Be, Little Ashes) and support Rob the actor and not Rob the paparazzi whore they carelessly use him as.

Sure hope Gozde gets swift retribution and takes the SOBs down in the process! We're behind you!

  78. seriously I feel like we might have been separated at birth. you girls are freaking hysterical. and I take the covers off my books too while I read them cause I can't stand for them to get all bent up and stuff.

  80. Hmmm - out at work? I know one co-worker knows I love the books because he mentioned his wife loves them and he and I chatted for awhile about them. My employee knows I am a little crazy about it but we don't bring it up too much. I don't think he wants to know that much about me.

Today, though, we had an employee meeting and our new GM listed the October birthdays (which mine is 10-25-69) and asked if anyone was doing anything special. I raised my hand and said "I'm going to Italy." I did not mention it is to go to Volterra and Montepulciano to check out the New Moon movie and book places! In fact, only the co-worker with the wife who loves Twilight knows that part. I was asked later by another co-worker why I was going to those 2 towns and I just said I have always wanted to see them (of course only since reading the Twilight series). Although I have always wanted to go to Italy over all due to another book called Hill Towns.

Anyway, so the point is that I am not out at work and sometimes I wish I were because my co-workers are very giving and I would love to see what would end up in my office. When I started there and I mentioned liking penguins... no joke I ended up with 2 copy paper boxes of penguin related items in 5 years from my co-workers! Crazy!

Thanks for being there for all of us who are not lucky enough to be out in all aspects of our lives.

PS My husband knows and somewhat supports - I think ; )

  81. @Abigail...aha! That was my first guess but then when I checked my saved titles, i was like no, that can't be it. And I totally thought of the Beautiful Bastard too *sigh* Yeah BAB (?) :) is a freaky one. But on my list nonetheless! I am finding, though, that I am reading too many that are in progress and I am having trouble keeping them all straight!!

@ Banshee...yeah, I got lucky...I the inspiration struck and I had my name and my avi within 10 minutes. But with your name I am sure you will stumble upon the perfect pic. Spend some quality google image seach time..I bet come awesome stuff will come up
