Sorta Spoiler Alert??? A Fellow Twitard Tours Italy!

Since we made a bit of a to-do about being all re-virgin-y and stuff, I wanted to start off by saying that if you are avoiding/have avoided ALL spoilers of any sort, well, then I guess this post isn't for you - sorry! But it's not what I would consider a "real" spoiler, since it doesn't contain any footage or stills or whatnot from New Moon. It DOES however show photos taken from a tour of Montepulciano - including locations used in the film - and also pictures from Volterra (inspiration, but footage from NM was not actually shot there).

Twitarded readers & frequent commentors Dangrdafne and sprtzmom1721 [check out her blog 17 Forever!] chimed in on a recent post about sharing the Twitarded love with the fam via the comments:
Dangrdafne said...My Mom is the greatest Mom in the world. Not only is she reading the books, to see what all my fuss is about, she gifted me a trip to Italy for my 40th birthday to go to Volterra and Montepulciano to see the New Moon places in each. She even took pictures of me in each place and she really hates using my camera but she did it.

My sister isn't reading the books but she understands my obsession and kindly bought me the Twilight journals (without me mentioning that I really wanted them) for my birthday. I called her and told her she was the best sister ever!

I have midnight showing tickets for New Moon and I was going to go with my husband but now that Mom and I went to Italy, I might take her so we can relive our trip while watching the movie together.

PS I made sure to wear my Twitarded shirt on the plane [yay!] to Italy and my Black Swan motorcycles shirt on the way back : )

yay! Twitarded t-shirt - yay!!! Can't tell you how happy this made us!

sprtzmom1721 said...@Dangrdafne - Wow. Wow! And I thought I had the best mom in the world. WOW!

Do you have pictures you'd like to share with your fellow Twitards?

Dangrdafne said...@Lisa - I am very very blessed. Any ideas how I can share pictures?

And the answer to that question is...send us the link!! Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we did - here's the link to the photos [below] - and psssst! the password is... Edward. lol! Click on the link below and enter "Edward" for the password - it is case sensitive/no quotes [nice password, right?? we liked it!]. Use the "slideshow" option and make sure you read the captions for explanations of the pics! Er, and then come back and tell us what you think! You know we like comments, people... Don't let us down!

Note from JJ: We aren't shitting you when we say we love to hear your stories so, if you have something fucktastically amazing like this, send it to us. And we swear we'll get to it. Eventually...

  1. Wow...what an incredibly awesome birthday present!! The photos were amazing...It's incredible to see just how narrow the streets are and then imagining Alice screeching a Porsche through them! When i saw the edward doorway my stomach dropped...I'm in deeper than I thought I was. Thank you for sharing these...I loved it!

  2. First off, that is truly awesome that her mother did that for her! Second, the whole thing is utterly cute! Third, my family sucks!

Anyone out there was a 30+, plump, black woman to adopt? I love Twilight and would squee like I was 12 if you just went to see "New Moon" with me - wanna take me on a Twi-tour of something, I'll do whatever you ask.

  3. That was awesome! The pics are beautiful :) What a fabulous birthday gift. My mom gave me a bookmark.

    I want some Gelato now!!

  4. Day-um...and I thought all my Twilight memorabilia, including FSE were good bday presents. Effin-A, I wanna go to Italy. That's a GREAT present and how cool to share with us Twitards. Awesome pics.

  5. Seriously, guys, this post and the subsequent pictures with comments brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible experience for a mother and daughter to share. I so wanted to be the first to comment, but I had to go through the pictures twice, take notes, and collect my thoughts :)

@STY & JJ - Thank you for allowing Dangrdafne to share this with us.

@Dangrdafne - I said it before, and I'll say it again. Wow. Wow! And I thought I had the best mom in the world. WOW!

    1) Love the password ;)
    2) The home page of your photo album is amazing. Did you design it?!
    3) Loved the shout out to our fearless Twitarded leaders with the t-shirt.
    4) How "sweet" of Dangrmomma to get you the New Moon candy.
    5) Was it on purpose or a coincidence that you and Dangrmomma were color coordinated with the Twilight Saga book cover colors of black and red?!
    6) The picture of the book cover with the building reflection is amazing! I hope you are having it framed.
    7) My favorite part of the trip would definitely have been standing in the doorway and on the very step where Robward filmed the reunion scene. It's the part of the movie that I cannot wait to see. I'm afraid I would have SQUEED like the 15-year-old girls, too ;)
    8) You wanted a poster to go with your Comic Con posters. Does that mean you went to Comic Con?!
    9) You know the fad where the guys wear the baseball caps and leave the size stickers on them? I totally would wear that t-shirt and leave the sales tag with Rob's picture on it. LOL!
    10) Have you seen the movie Speak with Kristen Stewart yet? It's actually a very good movie and performance by her, but it's weird how it starts out a lot like Twilight with her character narrating, etc.
    11) VERY clever that you took a picture of the moon every day of your trip.
    12) Loved that the map of Volterra said "Hot on the trail of Bella and Edward."
    13) You have some great keepsakes: hundreds of pictures, the Italian version of the New Moon book, the alabastar Volterra heart, and your journal.

One more time. WOW! Thank you so much, Dangrdafne, for sharing this with me/us. I will definitely take another look tomorrow as well as share the link on my blog (which, by the way, is "under construction" so please excuse the mess if you stop by).

  7. Dangrdafne AWESOME! Lovely pictures of Italy. Who's mom is # 1? Happy belated Birthday! My boss and his wife and gone twice in the past 4 years and I'm jealous. Dream trip! My Grandfather,(rip),was from there but don't remember what village.
Yes those streets are small and narrow. Some they don't even allow cars on, just bikes and people. Great job! I haven't taken any pictures of the moon but I have been looking at it alot more lately. LOL

  8. Talk about your trip of a lifetime! Tuscani is beautiful on its own but pair it with New Moon and it's a double win!!

(loved that white t-shirt with the Edward price tag!)

Thank you for sharing your trip with us, Dangrdafne!!

  9. Wow! I am experiencing a whole array of emotions. Such a beautiful mom you have Dangrdafne. I've always wanted to go to Florence.

I must add, however, that I am a little freaked out that obviously, every step you take, you come across Twilight merch in Tuscany. And, that such a thing as New Moon Volterra map actually exists! Phew. Blew my mind. Not sure how I feel though about people signing the entrance to the passageway and professing their love to Robward. Unless this entrance way was specifically designed for that.

All in all, your photoalbum is awesome, and I feel as though I went on the trip with you.

  10. LOVE the pictures!!! Awesome trip and gift!!! I'm SO JEALOUS!!!

I agree with @TJB, compared to that, my family sucks!

Did I mention the totes jealz!

    Thank you for sharing!

  11. What a beautiful gesture! Made even more so because unless you are in as deep as we are you can't possibly understand how perfect the gift is!
    Thanks for sharing these.

  15. That is such a fantastic birthday present!!! The pics and blog on it are great!

I was actually in Volterra at the begining of August also, have one of those very maps. I was on holidays through Tuscany and was able to stop into Volterra for part of a day. Made me laugh that the map had points of interest with quotes attached to them, like enterance to the Pallazo ' Alice says : "Run Bella, Run!"' I also went and did a tour of the Viti building with the grand entrance that at that stage had the downstairs basement set up as a shrine to NW, with the wall in your pics. I will put up my photos when I can, as they did a really nice exhibit with a spot light on a prop desk that stood infront of the wall. The desk had a typewritter ( which the spot light was on) and a hard copy of New Moon open to the Volterra chapter, and a flower keeping it in place. I moved house just after getting back so alot of that stuff I still need to sort through! It was a whirlwind trip through Tuscany and I never did make it to Montepulciano, which I am still sad about, but there was too much to see. I really loved how Volterra has really embraced the whole twilight phenonemon, the new tourist office had a small video in loop playing in the background with all the cast (Cullens + Bella in the birthday scene) saying a big thank you to everyone in Volterra. I never expected so much New moon stuff to be around, especially since it was mainly filmed in Montepulciano it was really great to see!

Sounds like you and your Mum had a great trip, so nice that you can both share that together! Thanks for sharing and putting up the pics.

  16. I am friends with sprtzmom1721, I sit next to her at work and share in her Robsession. She directed me to this link and your trip pictures are awesome. What a lovely gift from your mother. I hope to get to Italy someday too, and would love to visit these places, with my friend sprtzmom1721of course. I am so happy for you that you got to live this dream.

  17. Wow, looks like you had an awesome time, Dangrdafne! Your mom rocks. I was in Tuscany, mostly Florence, when I was 15, but I'd love to go back now that I'm not a sullen whiny teenager. There was this little walled town with narrow streets and archways that looked a lot like Volterra, but I can't for the fucking life of me remember what it was called.

I wonder what the locals think about being overrun with squeeing tweens? If I lived there I'd want to punch their lights out, no matter how good they were for the local economy.

    Mmmm, Italian ice-cream....drooool...

  18. Wow, it's crazy how my heart beat faster looking at some of these photos. I didn't even realize Volterra was a real place...

Man, your mom is like five shades of awesome. Thanks for sharing.

  19. Wow! I don't even know where to start. Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my photos and my mom. My mom truly is amazing and I am soooo very lucky to have her.

    @sprtzmom1721:
    1) Love the password ;)
    >>> was think of my Twitards with that one : )

    2) The home page of your photo album is amazing. Did you design it?!
    >>> It is actually a choice in Photobucket as a album design - I though it was very appropriate.

    3) Loved the shout out to our fearless Twitarded leaders with the t-shirt.
    >>> I love their picture and just had to wear it on my trip.

    4) How "sweet" of Dangrmomma to get you the New Moon candy.
    >>> It was yummy too and such a surprise.

    5) Was it on purpose or a coincidence that you and Dangrmomma were color coordinated with the Twilight Saga book cover colors of black and red?!
    >>> Totally on purpose! Dangrmomma even had a flower on her shirt.

    6) The picture of the book cover with the building reflection is amazing! I hope you are having it framed.
    >>> I hadn't thought about that but now I will have to do it.

    7) My favorite part of the trip would definitely have been standing in the doorway and on the very step where Robward filmed the reunion scene. It's the part of the movie that I cannot wait to see. I'm afraid I would have SQUEED like the 15-year-old girls, too ;)
    >>> I admit it was a highlight especially knowing I will see it in the movie and we were there as the clock struck 12 but it wasn't like Rob was actually in the door. Hey, I won't deny anyone squeeing it just wasn't going to be me ;)

    8) You wanted a poster to go with your Comic Con posters. Does that mean you went to Comic Con?!
    >>> I wish - I got the Comic Con stuff on ebay. I really wanted the Montepulciano poster but it wasn't to be :( but how can I complain at all, a poster versus being in Italy...give me Italy any day : )

    9) You know the fad where the guys wear the baseball caps and leave the size stickers on them? I totally would wear that t-shirt and leave the sales tag with Rob's picture on it. LOL!
    >>> LOL

    10) Have you seen the movie Speak with Kristen Stewart yet? It's actually a very good movie and performance by her, but it's weird how it starts out a lot like Twilight with her character narrating, etc.
    >>> I saw it when it was first on TV. I loved that movie!

    11) VERY clever that you took a picture of the moon every day of your trip.
    >>> Thank you - it was kind of by accident - I took the picture of the moon the first evening and then went Hmmm I should do this every day... and I did : )

    12) Loved that the map of Volterra said "Hot on the trail of Bella and Edward."
    >>> Volterra definitely was enjoying its Twilight status.

    13) You have some great keepsakes: hundreds of pictures, the Italian version of the New Moon book, the alabastar Volterra heart, and your journal.
    >>> and all my new Twitard friends!

  20. @ Jelena - I completely agree with you about the writing on the entrance, etc. but the weird thing we noticed in Italy was that graffiti was everywhere. It's like a right (or write) or something to do it. No one ever gets in trouble for it and no one seems to care. I still would rather they didn't do it, so I just made sure I didn't. I signed the poster in the Volterra Information center and that was enough for me.

  21. @ TwiChic - the Viti house cellar was not open at all when we were there. I would have loved to have seen the "shrine". Please share your photos when you get a chance : )

  22. How exciting, and what great memories you'll have to share with your mom. I took a trip with my mom many years ago and toured Graceland (neither of us is an Elvis fan, but what the hay), and we had such a great time together. Not as good as Volterra, but still loads of fun. What I want to know is, did anyone recognize your Twitarded t-shirt? I have just ordered one to wear to NM, that should get here on time. I have an apron already, but didn't feel that would be appropriate for the theatre, ha. Great pictures, thanks for sharing!

  23. Off topic: I was just on another site looking at some pics of RobstenCob in London, and Rob is positively beaming! It's so nice to see the Precious happy (even if it is with that skinny ass bitch).

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Z Any Mouse - no one recognized the shirt :( I admit I was a little sad, I hoped for one person somewhere to recognize it but alas no. I really do wonder, though, what the airport workers thought about it ;)

I did feel special though wearing it - like I was in on the secret. Enjoy yours and wearing it to New Moon!

I finally got my nerve up to wear my Twiheads shirt for the first time a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe that not a single person noticed or said anything. Even my family, who usually pounce upon every opportunity to acknowlege my oddness, didn't say a word. WTF?!I'm not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed, but now I'm "outted" and ready to wear it to see New Moon.

  27. I shared this missed story of my trip with JJ and STY by email last night and thought you all might get a kick out of it - I know I did.

Our driver to Volterra, David, has a good friend who was in charge of driving Robert Pattinson around during the filming. The driver had no idea who Rob was and the driver kept wondering why all these girls kept surrounding the van and screaming. David didn't really know who Rob was either, still to this day, so I filled him in on Rob's story. He understands now : ) I couldn't believe he was telling me that story. Such a small world and just so coincidental.

  28. WOW!!! i bet you just had the best time ever! what an exciting trip! what a story!! way better than mine - i found out last week that one of my postal customers (he's an an actor) worked on Remember Me over the summer! (yes, i SQUEEEED at work, and yes, i had to explain my mental problem to all the normies, but OMG he was all like, "yeah, rob was so polite and kind, totes!" ok, so maybe he didnt phrase it just like that. (he's a grown man, not a grown twitard)
speaking of Twi-clothes, i wore my twitarded tee to a family bday party a couple weeks ago, and people were like, "yeah, you're twit-tarded alright" ya know, like i'm a twit.
ok, first of all, i think you're mispronouncing twat, and it's
MS. TWAT to you, bitchface. secondly, HOLY DOGSHIT i talk about twilight constantly why on EARTH would my shirt say
    twit-tarded?
    vampire teeth, HELL-O?
one last notable thing, WE GOT OUR NEW MOON TIX THIS WEEK! we've got a gaggle going and i could NOT be happier. i keep taking them out of my wallet, looking at them and sighing...

  29. I have managed to stay away from all things New Moon....until last night.

I'm on vacation in Toronto and while I was snuggling into bed getting ready to pass out after much alcohol consumption I saw the trailer on TV for the first time. Subsequently I wound up dreaming all things Twilight. Withdrawal anyone?

    Yup....how many more days?

  30. @nebilet - My condolences to you. It's one reason I hate weekends, school vacations, and sick husbands. It totally screws up my Twitard time, and the kids are computer hogs. One computer, five people, leaves mom out in the cold having to do laundry (sigh, then shit!)

  31. @DangrDafne - Thank you. It was simply AMAZING! I really got a feel for what it was like. It was the next closest thing to getting to go.

I totally wish I could have that kind of Twitareded fun with my mom. She doesn't do vampire books - ugh. She's seen the movie though and at least understands my issues.

I DO however have a super cool daughter to share all this with. At 11 and 32, my dad says she's my twin that I gave birth to. :)

I'm really into taking pics and LOVE the way you organized everything. It's like a promo for Italy, but with a cool Twitarded twist. (Well - we are all a bit twisted, aren't we?)

Thank you. That was fun. It was like a fifteen minute mini-vacation.

  32. @Z Any Mouse: I can totally empathize about balancing my Twitarded time with my peeps and spending time in the real world with my loving family. Sometimes I fall totally out of the Twitarded loop and other times, my family gives me the are-you-going-to-take-off-your-headphones-and-join-the-world-of-the-living look. :P
