Twitarded Hangs Out With "The Hands Of Twilight"!

(photo from Kimbra's website - you all know what MY pics look like...)

When we learned that Kimbra Hickey - aka "The Hands of Twilight" - was going to be attending our New Moon premiere event, I was pretty psyched... Largely due to the fact that I had a plan:

YES! WIN!!!
(I meant to make a slightly larger logo for this photo op but ran out of time and ended up ripping apart my Twitarded keyring instead... I'll be at Zazzle getting a replacement soon but it was SO worth it!
)

When we were finally let into the theater after waiting outside in the rain for hours, we all dashed up to the third floor to start collecting the goodie bags, freebies, and assorted gear that the Volturi Ventures team had amassed.

Guess which one of us is about 5' 2" and 95 pounds? And hadn't been standing in the rain the entire day? Need a hint? No??? She also knows how to cradle an apple better. Obvs. Looks easy, but...it's not. Well, maybe it is if you are flexible and delicate and have lots of practice... I don't think my thumbs go that way... I should have had JJ and her tiny meaty paws try this move!

There were a hairy few minutes where the line was moving MUCH slower than the escalator that was dumping people into a small-ish corral and people were starting to get a little smushed. Sister Snarky finally walked up to a theater employee and said in her best firm you-will-obey-me voice "You need to turn off the escalator RIGHT NOW or people are going to get hurt." and that seemed to get their attention. Crisis averted! But we were this close to ending up on the news as "The Great Twitarded Smush of '09" and it wouldn't have been pretty...

"The Twifan Corral" after things had settled down...

When we got out of that sticky situation, I made a beeline for Kimbra's table. She had an assortment of apples and other Twi-related items and someone had even made her a blown-glass pendant of hands holding an apple. She is totally adorable in real life (plus super-nice!) and was more than happy to play along when I asked her to hold our logo and then Mini-Edward! She was chatting to other people here and there and was not bothered that I was standing there fussing with her hands - I guess because she's a parts model, she's used to it... She even took a few pics of us with her camera for her Facebook page! Which is private... Like the rest of the world's is...

Did I mention that Kimbra's a REALLY good sport? She's almost as good of a sport as my husband has been this looong New Moon weekend - or "SQUEEE!-kend," as he dubbed it...

Check out her website - she's got an interesting faq page and had had her fingers, toes and assorted other parts all over the place! You can also check out THIS website - Roger Hagadone photographed the book covers for the Twilight Saga and when they were working on New Moon, they tried several version using Kimbra's hands before ultimately deciding to go with a flower...

Thanks, Kimbra, for helping to make this night special for all of us! Hope you had fun, too! : )

We've got a few more random Premiere-night stories for you and then we're going to get on to the the movie itself - hopefully by then everyone will have had a chance to see it (if it isn't out where you live yet, we're sorry - but we'll note spoiler posts when we get there).

  1. You're too cute STY.

I guess I'll never be a hand model. Nubby nails peeling cuticles aren't meant for close-ups.

  2. LMAO!!! You made her hold Edward!!!! What a good sport. I feel bad now that I know they ditched her hands for the flower. Poor lady. They could have had her cradle a dream-catcher...but that wouldn't make sense...because it wasn't in the book...but it did show up somewhere else...hmmm

  4. Very cool! I think you should take the hands/twitarded logo and put that on the cover of JJ’s fanfic.

  14. Love the Twitarded logo with hands--total WIN STY--nice work!

The Mini-E one rocks too. I love that little guy. I decided it would be like cheating to buy Guidoward so I am sticking with the original, the one and only, Ming-reading Mine-E.

Way to go Sista Snarky pulling out the Mommy directive! Woot!

Can't wait to hear all the rest.

  16. JJ/STY...

I just got back from my epic weekend in Vancouver where I saw the movie in Langley (where a lot of it and Eclipse was shot).

Also ate at Glowbal (where Rob had his birthday in the spring). He raved about the Kobi meatballs so we had to have some "Rob Balls"....lol!

And we went to the Cullen House (it's for sale...got $3.3 million?) and the field where up until a few weeks ago, Bella's house stood...

I'll send you the pics tomorrow. I need some sleep! That was one helluva weekend - flying all the way from Toronto to Vancouver for a movie!!

(we're doing it all again for Eclipse!)

  17. Sweet!

Also, I'd like to thank you in advance that you're going to be posting "spoiler-alert" for the posts in which you will actually discuss the movie itself. Can't wait to have an opinion of my own to contribute.

  18. I wanted to go up to her and ask her to take some photos with my mini-Jacob but I was chicken. Damn lack of self-confidence!

I'm glad she was super nice.

  20. @Honolulu girl: great idea.

When I saw the hand with Twitarded logo I just thought it would make a great button (or whatever they are called) to link to Twitarded...

@TO Twicat: they're selling the house? Where will they film Eclipse/Breaking Dawn???

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Selene - Eclipse is finished and they haven't greenlit BD yet. Summit and Stephenie Meyer are still "in talks." And the rumor is that it may be filmed in Portland again. Which, for me, is excellent because I live RIGHT across the river from Portland. But it mostly has to do with tax incentives for the franchise. Apparently Vancouver, BC isn't offering quite as an attractive discount. This is all just what I've read though. So - we'll see...

  22. Selena...New Moon and Eclipse were filmed in and around Vancouver, BC. And Starlit is right....our good old Canadian government isn't offering as good a deal as the US so they're moving back to Forks "if" they ever do Breaking Dawn.

The Cullen house is located in West Vancouver, in one of the ritzier areas of the city. They're selling for 3.3 million CA$.

  23. A friend of mine sent the link to see the Cullen house that is currently for sale. There are some "cute" comments for each picture.

  24. @Dangrdafne - Thanks for the link. Maybe if they can't get the house sold, they could rent it out for Twitarded Con 2010!!!

And where have you been hiding? I've been dying to know what you thought of New Moon and how it was to experience the scenes filmed where you Dangrmomma visited!

  25. Would you believe I walked up to that door and asked if we could come in and look around?

I thought I was talking to the real estate agent but it turned out to be the owner!

(i knocked on edward cullen's front door! hee hee!!)

  26. @TO Twicat - Wow. Hope you got some pictures.

  27. I am reading fan fic and they just mentioned Bella taking a "human moment". I think it is JJ that talks about using a restroom on a different floor @ work to drop a deuce. I do this too.
In the story, Bella is spending the night before her wedding with the Cullens...a house full of people with super sonic hearing. You see where I am going with this!
I would go into vampire life with an extremely congested colon. I would have to travel a full state away to ever take a shit!
Not to mention their sense of smell and how in BD she talks about being able to "taste" the odors in the air...ewwwwwwww.
This is the only place I could think to share this twisted line of thought.
I know you are sorry you went there with me, but I feel better now. LMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sprtzmom...I did!! When the guy apologized for not letting us come in (and seeing as he owned the house, I guess he's allowed!), we asked if we could take pictures and he was totally OK with it.

I sent some to JJ and STY....

    ReplyDelete
  29. @sprtzmom, Apparently they all had to wear overshoes when they filmed in that house (you can see them on the crew in some of the pics) so I'm pretty sure having TwiCon there is a no-go if they're that fussy LOL! Btw, it keeps getting mentioned and I'm gutted that I'm so far away :o(.

@Sparkle, ROFL! I'm totally with you on that one, I'm an 'on my own toilet only' kind of girl so I'd be rubbish with the vamps too!

    ReplyDelete
  30. hahaha, Sparkle, you're a genius. That never occurred to me. One of the funniest comments I read in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @TO Twicat - I'd love to see the pics! As Dangerdafne knows, I'm all about living vicarioiusly :) My email address is lisa1721@gmail.com if you're interested in sharing them with me. If not, I completely understand.

@Stan - Yes, I remember reading about that and seeing the pictures. Seems to me either Peter or Jackson even commented on it during Comic Con, too.

Sorry we're depressing you with our talk of Twitarded Con 2010. Obviously, we hope it becomes a reality, but as much as we'd like to forget that JJ & STY have real lives outside of Twitardia, they do, so we shall see. Maybe a fundraiser is in order to fly JJ & STY to a Twitarded Con over your way :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Stan: I talk a lot about Twicon 2010 and I'm over in Portugal. If we can convince JJ and STY plus our Twitarded sis at the US to come, I'm ok with flying to the UK :) Easy Jet has cheap flights.

@StarlitViolets, TO Twicat and Dangrdafne: thanks for all the info. I'm going to google everything.

And StarlitViolets, once again, you do know that by offering that kind of information you are endagering you're peace and quiet? I think maybe Twicon is coming your way *grin*

    Kisses.
