Is It Too Soon To Be Planning My New Moon DVD Release Party???

Total-win mock-ups (this and below) that will likely shame whatever crap Scummit puts together - compliments of Apinea via My TwiLife and TwiCrack Addict.

I've been watching and rewatching my Twilight DVD recently (and I FINALLY listened to the commentary - twice! - and was cracking up! and yes I lurv Adork-a-Robward that much more now...) and it suddenly occurred to me that the New Moon DVD can't be that far off! Of course I was figuring that it would come out before the June release of Eclipse [can you say "Twiple Feature"?!] but then did some calculating and figured that since the Twilight DVD came out on March 21st, the New Moon DVD release should be right around the same time! Wooo!! Just around the corner! Sort of...

That bitch did it again. Dammit.

This is JJ last year in Texas when she should have been here with me... for the DVD release. Did I mention she's a total fucking two-timing twatwaffling donkey-sucking bitch? I love her, but it's true.

Last year when the DVD came out, Jenny Jerkface ditched me and ran off to SXSW with Mini-Edward! I was distraught! I couldn't even go to the Hot Topic midnight DVD release party! OK, truth be told, I wasn't sure if I would have went to the release party at Hot Topic. But I am unquestionably and irrevocably out of the Twi closet now and damn it, I'm going this year! When that teen behind the counter at Hot Topic hands me my invite, I am not going to get all sheepish and scurry out of the store without making eye contact! I'm gonna look right at him and say "Thanks!!! I'll be the older chick dressed as Bella! See you then!!!"

This disc and I have a hot date in March!

Er, but here's the potential catch: JJ is going to SXSW again this year. She JUST booked her hotel room. And finding a hotel room for SXSW is like finding the Holy Grail. I should be happy for her. But I'm not.

I'm selfish and I want her to be here. No excuses, no matter what the cool cause.

We had the following email convo today:
Snarkier Than You: When is SXSW?

Jenny Jerkface: 3/17-3/21 - why?
STY: because if they release the dvd the same time they did last year and you're not here i'm going to freak the fuck out on you, that's why.

JJ: Oh. Crap. Yeah, probably they will. Please don’t hate me. Gizmo will keep you company! I'll get an early flight back!

STY: You better! and i will count you in for the midnight hot topic dvd release party this time?! Fan-freaking-tastic! because i would have been really really REALLY PISSED if you'd ditched me two years in a row. if my twi-partner-in-crime wants want to ditch me two years straight for SXSW, she'd better start a fucking band, STAT.

JJ: I just told on you to my Mom. LOL!

STY: if you're not around on the DVD release date, I'm gonna ask your mom to be my new Twi-bff. So there. you can't keep us apart forever.
If JJ is away this year, I am yanking her admin rights and replacing her... Or painting her house red and black in her absence and getting a giant inflatable wolf to put in her front yard. And maybe some some wolf-pack standees... and a naked Edward (don't you worry how - I'll fucking make it happen! Scorned Snarky is extremely resourceful!!).

What do you think you'll do for the release of the NM DVD?? How does it compare to last year?? Tell us all about it in the comments! And if anyone wants to preemptively apply to be my new Twi-Partner in Crime (I had zero takers last year but we have more than three followers this time around so my prospects are exponentially better...), you know how to get in touch with me...

  1. Twilight DVD release party was with a bunch of co-workers and I got stuck sitting next to the one I HATE the most. Blargh! This year I'm not going to that party.

I'm totally in. I'll even bring cupcakes.

  2. It's never too soon to plan. And I can't believe you only recently listened to the commentary. When I bought my DVD last March at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday morning, I came home, watched it once w/o commentary, then a 2nd time w/ commentary, and finally a 3rd time w/o commentary. Yes, in a row. I felt this provided a well-rounded in-home movie experience. I'd love to apply to be your temporary Twi-Partner in Crime but I'm GU -geographically undesirable - as I live in CA. Unless you want to fly out here? No? Just a thought. Best of luck in your search.

  3. Snarky,

I will most assuredly being doing something exponentially more awesome than THIS or THIS because my girlies have come to expect a certain level of Twi-excellence when it comes to my DvD release parties.

Details are fourthcoming, but you have an open invitation!

  4. I would never leave you high and dry like that two timing whore flap. Bitch. How can anything that happens in Texas be more important than the release of the New Moon DVD?

  5. I had bronchitis and strep throat for the Twilight DVD release last year. Not fun...not fun at all.

This year, no plans yet. I try not to make plans more than one week in advance. I just can't do it.

If JJ is at SXSW this year you can fly out to Phoenix and hang with the Saga Mafia. We'd be happy to have you and trust me, the liquor will be a flowin!

  6. Do you realize, that I live rediculously close to you and can curse enough to make you feel as if JJ was actually with you??? I could make this happen...if need be. It is rediculously possible. I've got my black boots and my closet is filled with black clothes...I'll get my hi-lites freshly done and I'm there...

  7. I was still in the Twi-closet last March. I ordered my copy from Tar-jay online because I was afraid I'd go all Wolverine on some 14 yr old twat face if I went to an actual store. Then I stalked the postman like some kind of feral dog. When it finally came in I watched it 3 times the first day & may or may not have petted the case like it was the fucking One Ring To Rule Them All. (No, I don't have a Twi problem. Why do you ask?)

  8. Yes! I wanna do something, just not sure what. Twilove1--I'll make cupcakes. Other than that I'll be watching everyone elses ideas and ripping off ias necessary :D
STY--West Coast Tards are with you in spirit!

  9. I might have to take someof you up on your JJ replacement offers! I can only take so much... Yes, she IS a whore-flap. Yes, I think the dvd is "the precious" and was devastated that I had to wait days to watch it. I don't think I have that kind of self control this year. Or any year when it comes to Twi-related stuff anymore.

    : )

  10. I'm gonna cut a bitch.

first of all, SXSW is a BIG deal, (STY you stupid twat STOP spitting on me)it is!!

Secondly, don't trust LatchkeyWife. She has bear pelts in her freezer. 'Nuff said. But she's kinda cute...

Thirdly - Um, helloooooo, it's called wi-fi and I plan on meeting up with the Texan Twitards and, like, sharing a Lone Star with them (TexasKatherine, lookin' at you)AND I promised to book a mother fucking flight home early.

Last but not least STY (and I'm on her computer while she's shmoozing with guests, the dopeface) is an assflapping doucheystinking-traitorous cum dumpster.

But I love her and she's stuck with me forever. And I'm still going to SXSW and I'm gettin' a drunk tattoo, too.

    So there. :P

  11. I'm so lame, last year I had pizza and a movie night... all by myself! I wanted to savor it and not have shush people or answer stupid questions!
I watched Twilight tonight w/the commentary!
Unless I can find a Twitard near me, I think it will be a repeat of last year with NM.

And to add to my lameness, I have the commentary as an mp3 in my iTunes! :/

  12. My daughter and I went to the Borders release party and then stayed up to watch the DVD twice - once through regular and once with the commentary. Adorkable Rob was especially funny and endearing at 4am!

@F-Kat: we definitely need to plan something fun and I love cupcakes :)

@all Twitards: who else lives in Southern California?

  13. STY, last year I went to the Hot Topic DVD release party with my husband because I had no one to go with and it sucked! Plus, don’t like Borders and Target come out with their own version. Who’s was the best for Twilight? I only have the Hot Topic one. Or wait, are they all the same?

JJ, I just about died at your comment. You are so fucking funny and needless to say, may I add that my cursing has become pretty creative because of you. Now, unfortunately I got my niece saying twat waffle (uh, don’t worry. She’s over 18)

    ReplyDelete
  14. JJ and STY....awww love the pillow talk. You two are adorable. I feel the love! :D

Just as a second to Twilove1's comment, anyone in So Cal looking for something to do..... Uh... We got nuthin yet, but hopefully big plans to follow...

  15. bloodyhell...this time last year i had no fucking clue what the fuck twilight was (ok, i heard of it...from my 16 yr old niece) and i ran out of shit to read, so my longtime friend (from here on out to be referred to as 'the pusher')loans me all 4 books and the 3 disc dvd in one brown paper bag. my real life died that day....i devoured the books in 8 days, which is quite a feat considering i have 2 small children. i seriously carried the books around, tucked under my arm like an infant. from there on out, you know the drill...fell the fuck in love with edward...fell the fuck in love with rpatzz...youtube...fanfiction...and now new moon...i'm like a teenage girl waiting for prom.

  17. Hey...not too soon! My friend in BC is already planning my trip out there for the June 30 premiere of Eclipse! LMAO!! She told me last week to make sure I get the time off work.......

Anyway - I have a feeling they'll release the DVD around the same time as "Remember Me" premieres. Makes sense - they released the DVD versions of "How To Be" (which I watched tonight!) and "The Haunted Airman" just before the New Moon premiere.

With my marketing background, I'm thinking this is what I would do....maybe even have some kind of coupon at RM for a free or discounted DVD.

At least you'll know JJ won't be away in Texas for the Eclipse DVD release - that will be for next Christmas and around the time of "Bel Ami"s release....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey STY maybe you should just go with JJ to SXSW and enjoy the DVD release all Texas style--isn't everything bigger in Texas? What do you think? Or were you not invited?

I watched the Twilight DVD with my kids the day it arrived in the mail. This year I think I might have to pull out my leftover New Moon paper plates and do something a little bit more....with booze and adults this time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I loved my twilight dvd release party! Me and my two twi friends (one has recently turned her back on twi and i am still deciding if I'm still talking to her....) had a party at my house, as i live in a hick little town with NO hot topic and NO midnight release party anywhere. I made a twilight cake, and mushroom ravioli....from scratch! Pasta is the one thing i cant burn, though the garlic bread did not make it.

Its turning out that new moon will be similer but there will definatly be sangria involved (its become the unofficial drink of twilight!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. When Twilight was release I was still snickering at it like a smug motherfucker who thought it was silly fluff for kids. Then a few months later my 13 year old sister was here to stay and I put it on cable for her..then that night I though fuck it, I paid for this shit, I'm gonna watch it. The rest is history. My ovaries have never recovered and real life has never been the same.

That week fellow Twi-friend lent me her Twilight copy and I could not get through that bitch fast enough. I had to go out and get my own because she was re-reading NM and was too damn slow for my liking!

Next year, when New Moon comes out there will be fuckery. No doubt :(

  22. When Twilight DVD was released I knew nothing about Twilight. I had never heard of it. I think the whole of the UK is taking a little time to catch up on this. The books are slower burner here too, but now It does indeed seem to be everywhere (and I still SQUEEEEEEE every time i see the wall devoted to Twilight and Twilight Parodies in (soon-to-be-shut-down) Borders. (is it closing down in the US too?)

Anyway you are all invited over the the UK to Twipnotowers to celebrate with us if you have nothing else you'd rather do. We're thinking of trying to do some big party, need to speak to Lorabell about this.

Nothing big and Twi-related ever happens over here, so if the mountain won't come to Mohammed...

We all live in castles you know.

"Hello is that the Queen? Yes fish and chips and tea and marmite and a nice strong ale for my fine friends here."

    Honorary Spot for STY!

Actually JJ - I am so jealous you're going to SXSW. We have something similar in Brighton called THE GREAT ESCAPE which I strongly recommend :) But I'd sell Lala & KCF in a heartbeat to go to SXSW.

We're hoping to come over to the US for the release of Eclipse in the Cinemas. I'm going to be in Tornado alley then anyway being a total weather weenie and doing a bit of storm chasing - want to coincide with Twitard-Con2010 if that's ever going to actually happen?!?

    Enquiring minds want to know...

  23. @ mysharona, greetings from Edbrella Castle. Yep, that's right, we don't fly a Union Jack from the turrets here, we just have an Edbrella suspended ;o).

I was fairly new to the Twilight thing by the time the DVD came out last year, the movie had passed me by unnoticed, like mysharona said, not many people over about 16 seem to have heard of it here. When the DVD was released I may or may not have already had a *ahem* less official copy in my possession so it was just a case of swapping them and enjoying the extras.

I've no idea if I'll be doing anything for the New Moon one next year, I'm sure if there's some excuse to do something Twitarded then I'll do my best lol.

JJ and STY, I feel for both of you, the trials of Twitardia clashing with RL *sigh*

  25. @STY - Scorned Snarky dropped the f-bomb three times in one post. JJ, you'd better hope you don't experience any mechanical difficulties on your early flight back home. Just sayin'. LOL!

And if I thought that JJ could be replaced as your Twi-partner in crime, I'd seriously cut every other bitch in line ahead of me to get the job (See? I can even speak JJ's language.). But in reality, there's just no replacing JJ, which is why we love her so much :)

I'm shocked, too, that you are just now listening to the DVD with commentary on. It's self-deprecating Rob at his best AND where we get the gem, "I don't see nothin' wrong." Thanks to RAoR, I have an MP3 version of it (and so many others!) downloaded to my computer.

@Mama Cougar - Thanks again for the invite to your DVD party. Like JJ, I'm hoping that I can get back early from my son's college spring training baseball trip in time to join you!

@Honolulu Girl - I didn't get my Robsession going until after the DVD came out and now own three versions of it: (1) standard version; (2) realized I should have gotten special 2-disc version; (3) realized Borders had an exclusive version. HANDS DOWN my favorite is the one from Borders. It has all of the special features on the 2-disc version, extra interview footage, is beautifully packaged, and includes 5x7 movie stills. In fact, if I were to go to a midnight DVD release party (other than Mama Cougar's, of course!), it would be at Borders.

  26. Ok, firstly, I LOOOOVVVEEE dorky Rob - that is the whole reason I love him so. Ok, that and the mind-blowingly sexy jaw, & eyes, and lips,....hmmmmmmm....
Wait, where was I? Oh yes, DVD release party. I'm in Virginia Beach & have a few Twi-tard friends that I'm planning to invite over. I think I'm planning on making it a marathon & watch Twilight, then New Moon, then NM with commentary. I did so love the Twilight commentary (never trust a guy with perfectly manicured eyebrows!) Booze and food (as I'm a foodie) will definately be involved.
Anyhoo, VB is not too far from Joisey - I'm open to being your new friend - I miss having someone around who isn't offended with my trucker's mouth. Oh,and my main Twi-tard does not (WTF???) think Robward is hot! She used to until she read that he has poor hygiene. My take on that -WHO CARES - he can take a fucking shower - jeeze! That is a serious buzz-kill when doing anything Twi.

  28. Outofmyming and I had drinks until midnight at a bar near our Borders. I caused a minor scene when my pre-ordered copy wasn't available. then we laughed our way home (on foot! we are responsible!) to watch hers. I'll totally help keep you company if JJ is gone.

  29. @ All Twitards: I need to know if any of you are remotely close to me, as I NEED to find some twi-freaks to start making NM DVD release party plans with, if you are willing to extend an invite. I'm even encouraging my hubby (in advance) to go on a trip with his boys so when I spring the 'honey, I'm going to NYC with my fellow twitards for the premiere', he can't complain. Are any plans in the works??? I've been saving up my f-bombs for if/when I ever get to hang out with you guys.

I could force my 15 yr old to go to Hot Topic but she thinks I'm lame spice. I can actually hear her rolling her eyes at me when i talk twi to her. She hasn't read the saga. I know, I know I'm EPIC FAIL as a mom...

  40. I went to Forks for the Twilight dvd release party held by Dazzeled By Twilight store. They had Quillute dancers perfroming and at midnight they started showing the movie.

I went with a friend and met up with more twimates from Washington and we had a hell of time. A little wine, a little mayhem and a pinched edward standee... good times!

STY I'm sure you'll find a partner in crime to go to the dvd release party with, either that or go to Texas with JJ..

  42. I'll gladly join JJ at SXSW!

I was very sad after having a low key NM movie experience (lack of twi-obsessed company) so I think Seattle area twitards should get our collective act together for the DVD release.

  43. @Kintail & red_bella - I'm in Washington too! (Vancouver) We MUST plan something! I'm down to go up to Seattle. I fuzzy heart Seattle! Let me know. My email is StarlitViolets@gmail.com. :)

@STY & JJ - I vote that STY goes to Texas. It just makes sense. That way - no matter where you are for the DVD release, it'll be a party because you'll be together. :)

And I don't think a "replacement" for JJ could ever be found. Of course, some of these bitches on here are funny enough to provide a fair substitute.

  49. @StarlitViolets-I started with Wide Awake which I loved. CWAIA is by far my favorite so it is probably a good place to start. Just be warned that there is no turning back. I have been reading fanfic for a solid six months now. There is a lot of great stuff out there.

By the way, did you guys get in on these Edward cupcakes made out of a Rutherford bakery when you went to NY for the premiere? Apparently they were giving them out. Not sure if you can still order them but if so, they should definitely be had at a New Moon DVD release party!!!

  56. @STY - I keep forgetting to let you know how FUCKAWESOME those DVD mock-ups are!!! They show some serious talent and perhaps should be in the design biz. Jus' sayin.

@All Twitards - I put it in an earlier comment on another post, but it's so funny I just have to repeat it:

My daughter has heard me rave about the adventures of Mini-E and the other day she asked me, "Mommy, do you want a Mini Edward for Christmas?"

    I thought for a moment...

And with a BIG smile, said, "YES! Yes, I do want a Mini Edward for Christmas."

I realized how many more adventures I could plan and photograph him participating in. Oh yeah! It's also a good way to help the extended family know a small bit of how far the obsession does actually go. I talk about Twitarded constantly, but I still don't think my mom gets it. They all know I'm a big fan, but only my housemate family members know how much time I put in on the puter poring over all things Twitarded and Twilight related.

WordVerif: mastor. "Yes, Mastor Pattinson, I will obey your every command."

Im only a mear 5-6 hour drive from Austin (which isnt far n TX lol) so you may have an extra Twitard to hang out with!

wordverif: marlite **Lets all go to Texas & have a marlite! (think miller lite said in a real southern, slighty slurred TX accent)**

  62. @F-Kat - No problem about FB. I try to keep it as Twilight-free as possible too. Although, I'm starting to say fuck it, and slowly but surely coming out of the Twi closet. Temecula is good, I'll email you.

  63. @Z Anon Mouse - I have to keep my FB as Twi-free as possible. Otherwise one day I'm sure I would Overexcitedly declare my love and lust for all things Rob, only to slap myself in the forehead two days later when I realize I wasn't talking "only" to you.

  64. I am the only over-thirty Twilight fan in my neighborhood. The other adults look at me like I'm, er, Twitarted. For the DVD release of New Moon, I'll probably somehow assemble the outfit Victoria was wearing when she was running through the woods (anybody know for sure what she was wearing?), go to my local Borders at midnight, and snag me a copy of my fav movie. Then I'll watch it OVER and OVER until my neighbors want to kill me. That's my plan.

  65. Hey JJ you can always join me and my crew for the DVD release party here in Austin, you have great fans here too you know.

  66. @Shannon - why thank you! I understand there are quite a few of you "in the area" (though apparently "in the area" in TX is much, much larger than "in the area" in NJ, lol).

Perhaps we could all plan a day to meet up in Austin. Any particular bands you want to see? :)

  67. @Z Any Mouse - great! Whereabouts are you? I'm guessing Orange County? Your name have anything to do with Mickey Mouse???

Last year I watched my daughter and her friend make shirts to go to the midnight premiere of Twilight. I thought "how cute". Never thought I'd be so close to joining them this year for New Moon. Although I opted not to join the screaming teens for the midnight showing, I'm so ready to do something cool for the Dvd release. I guess we need to start scoping things out.

  69. Ohhhhhhhhhh I'll be your temp Jerkface!!!! I live in dirty jersey and i just moved here so i have no twitards or even non-tard friends i can force to have a dvd release party with me.

I could force my 15 yr old to go to Hot Topic but she thinks I'm lame spice. I can actually hear her rolling her eyes at me when i talk twi to her. She hasn't read the saga. I know, I know I'm EPIC FAIL as a mom...

    I LOVE Twitardia!!!

WordVerif: keelaces. I picture shoe laces doing keegles. And yes - I know I'm a very sick girl.
