The Post Before The Post About Getting In Shape...

I did a google-image search for "Twilight exercise" and this is what came up. Pretty, but not what I had in mind. Oh and it looks like this person is naked except for sneakers AND they have a chunk missing from their ass. What's up with that???

So for probably the last six months, I have been tinkering with a post about how I would like to get into shape... At this point, Jenny Jerkface are in our post-holiday/post-pig-out rut and nothing we own fits us and frankly we are getting kind of whiny about it. We've had a few meltdown omg-I-can't-find-anything-to-wear-I'm-NOT-going-out-tonight moments lately and we refuse to go buy new nice fat clothes because we are saving our money for Forks.

Anyway, I was going going through the anniversary post emails and came across one in particular that really struck a chord with me - I wanted to share it with all of you guys because if made me feel all warm & fuzzy and I love shit like this and it helps to motivate me to keep up all the blogging stuff even when work and RL is sucking the life out of me like I'm Bella in the ballet studio with James...

[thanks, bwen, for sharing!!! we LOOOOOOVED this story!!!]

OK Here it goes.

This story was 9 months in the making and no I'm not pregnant. About 9 months ago I was fat, unhappy and my husband and I only slept in the same bed because we were married but nothing else happened there. I was looking for something magical to happen in my life, and then Twilight came along, yes I was a late bloomer, I got all the books for Christmas of 2008 and I fell in love with Edward Cullen, sad but true! I immediately bought the movie when it came out on DVD and fell in lust with Rob Pattinson.

To my great surprise I found my husband reading the Twilight books and though I watched the movie on an average of 5 times a week he would often volunteer to watch it with me on his weekend off, another big surprise.

Then spring came along and I caught him looking at photos of when we were first married, yes I had long brown hair, fair skin, chocolate brown eyes and I was thin once upon a time.

Well something clicked in my brain, he was looking for his Bella and I wanted my Edward, so I started dieting and exercising, and he started thinking more about how to be romantic, to date I have lost 80 lbs and gone from a size 26 to a size 14 and I'm still going down, and I have never felt better. 4 months into this my husband and I went away for a long weekend on our anniversary and rediscovered our sex life that been dormant for 5 years ( and I mean dead dormant).

Today my husband and I are more in love than ever before, and the sex is phenomenal and so much better than ever before. We are even happier now that we get to embarrass our kids almost daily because of my husbands and my PDAs. Life is great and Twilight was better than any marriage counselor, sex therapist, weight loss program, personal trainer or drugs, Twilight helped me rediscover what its like to be in love, and that having a great a physical relationship is about more than just sex.

There are people all over the Twidom who have used Twilight or blogging or fanfic or the the fandom in some way to help motivate them to get in shape... There is even a discussion going on at our Facebook page! I am not linking to anything right now because I really want to do this right and collect my thoughts and your input before coming up with a game plan. Do you only read fanfic on the treadmill? Want to get into shape pre-Forks? What??? This is something that I feel strongly about and I think we could really help each other here, so I would love to get your input on the general topic of getting into shape and how Twilight and the community we've established here at Twitarded may be able to help - so spill it! I want comments, please!

Don't forget, ladies: proper support is critical when jogging. Or not.
Oh and I don't think Kellan was stuffing when he did that Calvin Klein shoot.

  1. I am speechless! This story could have been written by me! I just discovered Twilight when it came out on DVD. And all that you said is true for me. I was fat, my husband and I had nothing going on in the bedroom, etc., so I started....I made a cd of Rob's voice saying a cute line after each song for me to workout to. I put pictures of Rob all over my workout area. So since Twilight came out, I have lost 100 lbs. I was also a size 26, I have gotten rid of all my clothes. I just have a few sweatshirts and Twilight and New Moon t-shirts! I'm not sure what size I am. But I am just so glad to hear your story. Everyone thinks I am nuts that Twilight helped me lose weight. I can't explain it, I just started walking and stopped eating. Just looking at pictures of Rob was incentive for me. I am so glad that I am not the only one. I am happy for you and me and lets keep going and loving all things Twilight!

  2. I think it's AWESOME that Twilight has motivated so many people and boosted their libidos.

I don't have a story to tell. I'm still trying to lose 10 to 15lbs (always) so obviously that hasn't changed for me. I guess my marital bed has been spiced up a little but I owe that to getting hammered every Friday night playing Drunk Mad Libs. Hmmmm. I wonder if the excessive drinking is hindering my weight loss. *scratches head*

Twitards are sexy bitches no matter what size they are! Love you all!

  3. Twired Jen <~~~~~~~~~~~~Gaping, drooling, open mouth!!! So not a Kellan fan...BUT GOOD GAWD LOOK AT that...that...um...packaged goodness! Why can't Rob wear some sweat pants and jog down the street? See, I incorporated exercise into that sentence!

  4. I am all about getting fit and thin... Ever since I laid eyes on sweet Robert Pattinson. I need to look good, in case I ever meet himk. LOL! Seriously! I want this man. I need to look my best, so I plan to join gym and quit eating Chilli dip at 1100 at night. Here I come baby. Oh yeah Rob, here I come... (snicker).

  5. Kellan is swingin' in the breeze, aint he. Go Kellan..GO!!

OK--back to the point of the post. Yes..Twilight has also inspired me to eat better..maybe because I want to climb trees and look for vampires...or just fit into the clothes that vampires wear. Did i mention I love vampire clothes??

AND labido increases because your confidence increases, which is a BONUS!!

  6. Last year I lost about 20lbs. I signed up for an exercise study that required I work out 5 days/week, at leas for 16 weeks. Best decision I ever made. I've kept it up for the most part and there hasn't been a week where I haven't gone to the gym at least twice. I even ended up getting my certification to teach spin classes although I can't be bother to teach.

I've got another 15 or so pounds and I'd love to do it in time for Fooorks!

I have a copy of a fitness/diet plan that was given to me by the uni prof overseeing the study. To be honest I haven't read it, but I'd be happy to pass it on.

Let's do this together! <--wow that sounded lame-o.

  7. Not Twilight persay but some of the fanfic has been inspirational to me...specifically The Office and I am missing that story tremendously.

I actually just got back from the gym. You all know that I am a fan fic h00r and have touting the benefits of reading fan fic on my Kindle for a while.

But only in the last couple of weeks did I ditch my iPod and start taking my earplugs and Kindle into the gym instead. I have been reading fan fic on the treadmill for the last two weeks. I have never been a runner, but I used to go 4 MPH and 15% grade for about 35-40 minutes. Now, I go 3 MPH and just 10% grade so it is easier for me to read, but I go for an hour and I still get the same calorie burn with the extra time and I find that my hour goes by FAST reading the fanfic. Way faster than my 35 - 40 minutes used to go.

Unfortunately, I still have about 30 pounds to lose. :( But I am very excited about how great my workouts have been the last couple of weeks.

It is guilt free fan fic reading time.

  8. I think I need to do like the fist post and put pictures of Rob and Kellan...drool...up all over my treedmill and maybe just maybe I would be motivated to use it :)

  9. @STY: Have you ever heard of SparkPeople.com? It's sort of like WW's online but free and better. Maybe you and JJ can start a Twitarded team page for us to join.

@bwen: What a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @Erica - a few Twitarded FB fans already started a SparkPeople page - I will do a follow-up post and link soon!

  11. oh lord! are we going to get skinny together?! because that would be awesome!!!! (exclimation marks nessisary)
    @Cullenary Curser.(high five)im 6'3" so you might need to get a stool. :D

ps. i didnt even notice the bulge untill the stuffing mark was made now i cant STOP looking.

    ReplyDelete
  12. STY: You know I have LOTS to say on this topic :) An entire blogs worth of stuff to stay on this topic lol ;)

@Erica, I use sparkpeople :) it's helped me lose 80lbs! a twitarded team would be awesome! There's a general twilight team existing already.

  13. So timely indeed. @Anntastic23 and I are doing LoseIt!...it is and app for an iPhone or iTouch. It sounds like it is very similar to Sparkpeople. It is free too which is the coolest. I carry my iTouch with me everywhere I go and enter in my foods all day. I started three weeks ago and have lost 6lbs. so far. I have a long way to go to my goal but I am hoping by the time Forks rolls around I will be a lot closer to where I would like to be.

Twilight and all of you brought me out of the haze of having young kids in which I did not take care of myself because I was too busy taking care of everyone else.

If anyone wants to look me up on LoseIt! I am under VitaminR or VitaminR70--can't remember which.

    Woohoo!

  14. Oh and way to go to all of you that have had such great success...that is truly inspiring!

  15. @STY - You already know I'm on board with whatever you decide to do, as we have talked about getting Fit for Forks via email.

I am following Team Six Pack's fitness blog and even printed out the pic she used in a post of Rob as Tyler in RM hanging his head and put it on my fridge :)

I would be glad to design a "badge" if you come up with a logo for bloggers to put on their sidebars as a reminder, if you're interested.

@mmMoxie - Friday night Drunk Mad Libs has definitely elevated my game, too. LOL! The acohol calories probably aren't helping, but at least work we're burning some of them off ;)

  16. ok...so i dont really have a story to tell...YET! is it bad to say that Twilight/RPattz has inspired me to shed some extra pounds...only bc I am going to NYC in June and I know that a little movie you all may or may not have heard of is coming out right about then. Eclipse?? heh I thought so!!

Um yeah....so in the event that I may (or may not) run into the Pattz (or Kellen..or even Daddy C), I want to be looking my best! So whatever it is yall ladies come up with, IM.ON.BOARD!!! just sayin..

  17. Oh yah, I lost 6 kilos last year after watching Twilight (a bunch of times) and reading the books, and rediscovered my sexual self. amazing. It replaced my desire to eat desserts and chocolate - because I fell head over heels with Robward, so my brain started pumping out endorphins, and this helped me overcome my cravings. Sex life never been better. Mind you, I've been starting to put the weight on again since christmas :-( I need Remember Me and Bel Ami to come out, and that Details mag shoot, so I can get back on the Robward wagon and away from pudding...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I bring my Edward water bottle with me to the gym...with him staring at me the extra mile doesn't seem so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, STY, you are one scary mind reader!! I've been thinking about getting into shape for awhile now, but a lot more since I decided to go to FOOORRRRRKKKSSSS. Last month on twitter, Cullenary Curser said something about "putting our forks down for Forks" and that's really stuck with me.

So today, I joined a weight loss program and recommitted to actually working out at the gym rather than just sending them money each month.

All - thanks for sharing your stories! It really helps to know that other Twitards are going through the same thing.

  20. I got completely obsessed with twilight last summer. I don't know what motivated me, maybe I wanted to be a hot vampire... Lol.... I lost 16 pounds... Using the lose it app and doing bikram yoga.... It's come off at a slow but steady pace. I was so excited to buy a 6 insteead of an 8 this weekend.... I still have about 10 or 15 pounds I wanna lose.... So I'm excited for the fitness fun to come....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Such inspirational stories everyone. That letter in your post is almost a tear jerker. And people say that twilight is a load of crap. Anything that could inspire someone to lose 12 dress sizes in a healthy way has to be heralded.
Twilight and fanfic have boosted my confidence and sex life of course. I'm sure my husb doesn't mind the ff for this reason. The offshoot of that is I've been keeping fit so I look better and also have better stamina and flexibility in the bedroom.
For everyone putting down their forks for Forks - brace yourselves - Valentine's and Easter are coming. Strong chocolate holidays beware! Let your family know your health intentions - I am not kidding here people.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Go Team Twitarded! This is a great plan that once again we can help each other out with. I am a little co-ordinationally challenged, or I can be, and I know if I tried to read fanfic and run at the same time would only end in disaster! LOL

But the pics of our fave vampires men are definitely an incentive, as is the twilight soundtrack blasting on the ipod - Submissive Blackhole in particular is great for keeping time/counts for sit-ups/push-ups/squats!!

@bwen - thanks for sharing your story, I am so happy for you that Twilight bought so much good into your life. I find that its helps me in little ways all the time - even when reading fanfics sometimes I find myself thinking of similar situations I have been in and considering things from a different angle that I may not have seen before....

I am not on the facebook group as yet, as they block it here at work, but I will try and get myself set up soon as I am still holding out to be able to join all of you in FFFOOOORRRRRKKKKKSSSSS!!! Fingers crossed...

  23. i have am obbsession with vampires amd Twlilght/Rob/Edward Cullen so i guess i swoped Lestat for Edward, I have had a baby recently and am trying to loose the weight and my motivation is to get thin and hot, just in case i meet any of the Cullen boys and FOOOOORRRRRKKKKKSSSSS!!! i wanna go and hubby says if i get down to a size 10 from size14 he'll pay for it bonous! so yeah i'llbe the naked chick running through the wood screaming for Edward, lmao no i'm not thatbad ....am I? .....mmm

  24. First off Fanficzombie how do you get fanfic on your Kindle?! I just received one as a present and would LOVE to not have to read it off my computer screen :) Second...reading that story really made me tear up. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember and it SUCKS. I wish I had some inspirational Twilight story but I don't. It doesn't mean that it will stop me from trying to have one though.

  25. Great ideas. Gracie at the Danger Magnet has a challenge going since New Moon came out. I started that, but quickly lost interest when Mr TM wasn't interested in having sex with me. Turns out it wasn't me. He would feel better about that & everything else if he lost 150 lbs.

I need to lose 40+ pounds. The Twitarded/sparkle group sounds great. Support is so important.

On a different note. Any Twitards thinking about the3day? It is a fundraiser for breast cancer & you walk 60 miles in 3 days. That takes some serious training.

  28. Hi everyone I'm the bwen from the posted story. Just to share with you how and what I do.
I read the Twilight books while I'm on the treadmill, I listen to the New Moon and Twilight Soundtracks while I'm on the treadmill, doing sit ups and lifting weights.
I'm on the treadmill everyday, sit ups 6 times a week and lift weights 3 times a week.
When eating I watch my portion sizes and if I'm not hungry at meal time I don't eat plus follow Canada's food guide for healthy eating, lots of fruit and veges. Most important I get some form of sexual gratification every day or night. And reading fanfiction has really helped has helped with variety in the bedroom or any room for that matter.
I am down to a size 12 now and have lost at total of 90 lbs.
But exercise is the key to sustainable and successful weight loss...BTW, sex is considered exercise.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Exercise and Twilight is ingeneous. I used to read fanfic on the treadmill. Of late, I still read fanfic, but me and the treadmill have broken up. :/
That Kellan pic makes me giggle everytime... *snort*

  30. I run to the Twilight soundtrack in the oven down here (Texas), and once the humidity has arrived it feels as if you are running in the dishwasher...nothing like supermassive black mole to get your arse in gear early in the morning.

And congrats to anyone who has lost a heck of a lot of weight as a result of Twilight.

  31. Omg..."putting out forks down for Forks!" That is brilliant. You guys are going to laugh at me but I started to lose weight after getting swine flu. I didn't eat for days and when I started feeling better I just said fuck it...keep not eating! So now I eat smaller healthier portions and I've already dropped a bit. Don't know how much but my scrubs are getting baggy....ffffffooooorrrrkkksss has been my biggest motivator and probably all these hot hot hot hunks of man meat I stare at...read about....and write about allllllll day.
I love how Twilight has inspired us all to bring our sexy back...

    ReplyDelete
  32. WOW, way to go ladies! These stories are amazing. I love the "put down your forks for Forks" idea, sign me up!

@Wen, way to go! I think you nailed it - rediscovering what it is like to be in love. We all want that - and those of us married a while who may have let it slide want it BACK. Not only do I now want to be in better shape (maybe something about making Mr. XKR find me as irresistible as E finds B?), but talk about a makeover in the bedroom too! I'm so happy for you, girl. You deserve all of this happiness and more!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Twilight inspired me to get out of the wife/mommy rut and actually care about myself. Makeup, clothes instead of sweats, etc.

I also put on the Twilight and New Moon soundtrack and hit the pavement. I love that alone time, usually devoted to some RobFantasies. I walk three miles everyday, and I think I am ready to start incorporating some running as soon as this bronchitis clears up. I began this in November 2009 and I am down 10 pounds with 30 more to go.

I have always wanted to do the 3 day walk, but never had anyone to do it with. I also don't know if I have it in me to get up at 4am to train during the summer when it is 90+ degrees out here in Arizona.

    Damn, that boy is swingin'!

  34. @ Melissa....go to www.home-eisele.de and download the Fan Fiction Downloader. Then you just copy and paste the story URL into the downloader, save as a mobipocket ebook (this is all easy peasy with the downloader...three clicks and you are done).

Then you just go open up your folder where you save your downloads and find the mobi ebook. Plug your Kindle into your computer. Drag and drop the mobi ebook from your computer into your Kindle documents folder and then eject your Kindle from your computer.

Once you get the hang of it, you will be able to do it in 30 seconds. you can email me at mrsjbreen@wavecable.com if you need any help. You are going to DIE when you see how easy and awesome it is. Happy reading!

  35. @Cult leader - *high five* And we're not getting skinny together (although that'll be a bonus) - let's aim for healthy and fit!

@Erica - I've joined Spark people and our little group! I had no idea about this site! Christmas threw me off track - so this should help!

@melissa - twilightcupcake has an awesome post about getting fanfic on mobile thingies.

  38. Okay, I’ll speak up. I’ve only been lurking here for a few weeks, and I’m a Twilight newbie. During winter break, I hesitantly picked up my university’s library copy of the first book. I’m sure you all can guess what happened next! Within a week I’d read the other 3 books and Midnight Sun. (Uh, wow. It’s quite empowering to say this stuff here!) I’m still trying to understand what has happened to me, and it’s getting more and more tricky to keep my newfound time-suck on the DL. (Hubby and dissertation advisor are both starting to suspect something’s up…) Anyway, getting to the topic at hand…My becoming TWI-terpated just so happened to coincide with my new commitment to getting healthy. After years of grad school, I’ve cultivated some crappy eating habits and sloth tendencies. (The library is only one building from my office, I don’t even have to leave my building to teach, and I spend most days writing/reading. If only mental exertion burned a proportional amount of calories! But I digress again.) As bwen and so many others have said so well, Twilight can inspire major life changes. For the last 5 weeks I’ve used the elliptical machine 5-7 times each week and tried to be thoughtful about what I eat by watching portions and getting lots of fruits/veggies. While on the machine I often think about the books, replaying scenes in my mind and theorizing character motivations, etc. It’s actually FUN, which is not my usual MO for exercise.

Building on my much slower weightless over previous months (which I attributed to long doggie walks), I’ve lost almost 30 pounds. I’ve probably got another 20 to go. But I honestly haven’t felt this good in ages, mentally as well as physically. It’s just a theory, but I attribute a big part of my success so far to Twilight. The story has tapped into parts of myself that were dormant if not dead (including my sex drive). But SM’s books and, yes, this awesome community have reminded me to take pleasure in the world, in your family and friends, in the romance that hides in unexpected places. This has also lead to something of a reconnection with my younger self—-who may have been a bit naive but also generally fit and high energy. Twilight has taught me that parts of my youthful self are still a part of me. Embracing that has made all the difference, if that makes any sense.

So sorry this was such a long comment! It’s really motivating to see how members of this community up the inspiration ante for one another all the time. Major THANKS to STY, JJ, and all of you fabulous Twitards for making me feel like I’m not alone!

  39. I have lost 90 lbs since discovering Twilight when it came out on DVD. My daughter was really into it (she's 14) so together we got ona regime of eating less and walking more. It is just something about the romance of Edward and Bella. I wanted that again, so after 90 lbs. I got my "sexyback" and my husband is very happy! I made a cd of music and put Rob's voice saying one of his adorable quotes after each song and it really motivates me to keep going. Rob saying "we're not supposed to be eating" or "I was trying to be really sexy there" really is hilarious and nice to hear while you're sweating like a pig and thinking can't I stop now? But no, keep going for Rob! I am so glad to hear other Twitards have been effected like this. Go Twitards, love you all!

  40. @4funsies - First of all, CONGRATS on your weight loss. That is life-altering. Good for you. And I think you have the best fucking training tip EVER with your CD and Rob's quotes. I'm not kidding. I am SO making one. Brilliant!!!!!!

  41. I have to say this post hit home with me more than most. I have been feeling like shit for so long and my sex life sucked. Last year I started working out but it was only a half-assed attempt. For some reason after I saw New Moon (maybe it was Taycob's hot bod) I decided I needed to get serious. Since then I've been working out and lost 22 pounds with 38 more to go. My sex life has already improved exponentially. I joined the Spark People group but I'm not real active with it yet, I journal my exercise and food in a spiral notebook. And YES I totally read fanfic while on the treadmill, I set it up so that I have my laptop right there and can walk/jog and read at the same time, it is truly motivation along with the Rob pics I look at while exercising.

    ReplyDelete
  42. WOW! I almost fell off my chair when I read the title to this post. Ever since I started reading the good fan fic I realized I needed to get in shape. I think it was actually The Office that motivated me as well. Or maybe it was CW&IA??? I don't know which story it was really, but all of the sudden I knew I wanted to have sex with my husband on my kitchen counter top, and I didn't want shit to jiggle.

My co-worker (Muffin Top) and I actually started a blog [Half Ass to Half Marathon] about our diet and fitness goals in order to keep ourselves accountable.

We are running a half marathon a few weeks before our Forks trip [FOOOOORRRRKKKSSS!!!!]. SO hopefully you'll all see a lot less of us there!!!

I love all these stories; they are truly inspiring!

    ReplyDelete
  43. @PaperBell I think you tapped into it when you said you reconnected with your younger self.

Hell I'm back to living in blue jeans, sneakers, tee shirts and yes even indulging in a few plaid shirts. I am now the person I want to be and not some carbon copy of what others think I should be.
I do volunteer work now that I never had time for before and I no longer wallow in self pity.

  44. @wen Congratulations on the weight loss, very touching story!

I am totally on board for "Putting down the fork for FORKS!!" I've been thinking about getting back in shape, I've made a couple of stabs at it, but never seem to be able to stick with it. I even bought this CD for subliminal dieting... Haven't received it yet.. Wonder if it will work?!?
Oh I joined sparkpeople where is everyone??

Unfortunately Twilight had the opposite effect on me, it made me realize that hubby isn't my Edward and I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that. But it has motivated me to take better care of myself and want to lose the extra weight. You know just in case run into Rob, a twenty second peek at 1:00 am as he drove off the set just was not enough.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love reading everyone's stories!!! I'm determined to be at my goal weight by FOOOORRRKKKSSS.

@4funsies - What a great idea to add Rob's voice to your music CD!

@Red Bella- Believe me, I understand what you're saying :) I'm still trying to get over the fact that my husband isn't Edward either.

@Twitardedmom & @Wendy - You really should do the Breast Cancer 3 Day because it will totally change your life. I've done 4 of them and it is truly an awesome experience. I wish there were more Twitards living in the San Diego area cause I'd love to do it again sometime.

@Cullenary Curser - I knew your "Put down your fork for Forks" slogan would catch on!!!

  46. As a runner, I think I can describe the missing ass chunk in the first picture. Looks like the runner is wearing 'elite runner' gear, meaning basically a bikini bottom & it must be digging into the fat on her butt, thus causing an indentation. I see it all the time when I look at my rearview. THAT is why thongs & no undies under things are SO important.
Also, anyone have any suggestions on where I could get a FSE for a decent price? Starting to plan my New Moon dvd release party & want one.

    ReplyDelete
  47. you all should check out the challenge over at LTT/LTR. It's already 6 weeks in but it's really awesome! You all could start up something similar. It's really working wonders for some people, the community atmosphere and the fact that you have about 20, really nice really supportive accountability partners rocks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Okay, you guys are psychic, right?!
I've been working on a site called mytwilightdiet for a week. I've been trying to come up with a way to lose weight using all of the food in the books.
Anyone notice that there are only two fruits or veggies in all four books?
I'm having to add in the movie food for a balance.

Now I'm even more embarrassed to put in online as you all are so much more eloquent than I seem to be, AND some of you have already lost more than I have. I lost 10 while first reading the books a year ago, and still have about 90 to go.
I feel like I've come out of the closet, and it's damn scary!

But, if it's not Twilight related, I'm just not interested, so I figured this was the best way to have fun with it.

There's so much inspiration in Twilight, and really does hit us all so deeply.

  49. @red_bella - I think I am ok with the fact the my husband isn't Edward, but I am still coming to terms with the fact that he isn't Domward or Beautiful Bastard - lol! OK fine, fine - I love me some Mr. Snarky and I'm not sure I'd want to be married to either of them but...well...you know! I think I need Mr. Snarky to start reading lemon-y fanfic (and yes this means I need to do my part, too - I don't recall anyone ever admiring Bella's cellulite - lol).

    : )

thanks everyone for chiming in - we'll try to work up some way that we can all help each other to stay motivated - and the fact that so many of you have already really changed your lives in the last year or so is really amazing - congratulations!!!

  50. Wow. I have been trying to get (and stay) motivated to get into shape for a while now and the idea of only reading fanfic while exercising is genius. If I exercised half the time I'm devouring fanfic like a sex fiend, I would be in tit-top (yes, intentional) shape! This is an incredible incentive to work out.

  51. Wow, I love this. This is so motivating. I forgot to mention that I, too, have taken to reading fanfic on my laptop while I ride the stationary bike in our basement. The time goes by so fast and my children do not interrupt me. Last night I did 45 minutes while reading a really long Lost Boys chapter.

I don't have a Kindle but knowing you can download fanfic onto them now makes me want one REALLY bad.

Congrats again to all of you that have such incredible weightloss stories...I hope that I can join you in that success by the time we are in FFFFOOORRRRKKKKSSS!

  52. @PaperBell hit it on the head when she said that Twilight helped her connect with her younger self. It has TOTALLY done the same for me.

Even though I am 40 years old, own my own business, have a kid and a husband, doesn't mean that I can't be a silly giggly school girl as well. Everything about me is younger - Wen, I am hitting the jeans and T-shirts as well. I even bought a pair of Vans. I am so much happier having resurrected the silly school girl!

There are some really great inspirational stories on here. Thanks to everyone who took the time to post comments!

Twilove1, as far as the 3 day, maybe we should organize the Twitards by state and do the walk in our pink Twitarded shirts! :)

  55. I read on a different blog that someone had lost a lot of weight after reading Twilight simply by saying to herself, "If Edward can resist the temptation to kill Bella, then I can resist this 'insert food'." I thought it was pretty brilliant.

  56. Holy shit I thought I was the only one who was motivated by Twilight to loose weight and I kind of felt silly for admitting it but once agin, STY saves the day...teehee :o)
About a year ago was the first time that I saw Twilight, and I fell hard. My husband got me the books and it was all over, I was hooked. So of course after seeing the movie like 10 more times, I had to go and buy the soundtrack.

As the days passed, I found myself being motivated by these fuckawesome songs, and stories and I started jogging 2 miles a day listening to them, and eating right. I have lost 25 pounds in the past year.
My husband and I are 28 years old, but we have been together since we were 15 and I have to say.....the sex life has never been better and I owe so much of it to the weight loss and of course the lemony fanfic.....I have never had such potty mouth, and my mind has NEVER been this much in the gutter at any given time as it is now....and I have to say I love it!
Seriously though, there are just so may different ways that Twilight effects people in positive ways...it's crazy!
This was a really great post and I am glad that there are others out there.

  60. So how does that work? If I order FSE online does he come folded up? What do you do about the creases? Or does he come full size, in a long flat box? Also, who do you all recommend? Twilight or New Moon FSE? Sorry for the topic change, but I figured I would ask the experts.

  62. Yay!! This could have been written about me too! Twilight inspired me. Just reading about how Edward and his family were able to abstain from something so built in (human blood) inspired me. I figured - if they can forego the human blood and find an alternative, I can damn well say fuck the cheeseburger! Nothing else worked for me but Twilight - I was fat my whole life and with Twilight I dropped 110 lbs and counting :)

  63. I've been pretty dormant lately in Twidardia...but I have been checking my favorite blogs every day. =) The new Eclipse pics certainly energized me! And so has this post! I have many many times thought about how to use my passion for all things Twilight (and Robert Pattinson) to help shed some pounds and get into shape. I'd love to by June 30!! So I'm in! Sign me up!

  64. @Twilight Junkie - I like the NM FSE better because he doesn't look 17 (and I will probably be using that argument as the basis of my defense at my trial). Edward was delivered via UPS in a large flat box, folded in half. There is one crease right around an important part of his anatomy, but it isn't noticeable and doesn't seem to hinder him in any way.

He comes with a folded stand attached, but my Edward lives on the back of an office door at work (secretly, I might add), so I removed the part on the back to make him hang more flush to the door. He's made out of thick foam board, is wonderful company, doesn't eat at all, and keeps very quiet. I think you definitely need one :)

  65. @red bella - you said "Unfortunately Twilight had the opposite effect on me, it made me realize that hubby isn't my Edward and I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that." It isn't that your hubby isn't Edward it is that he isn't YOUR Edward, correct? Perhaps he is someone else's Edward and you are someone else's Bella? I am going through the same thing right now. I even asked my husband if he thought I was still the one for him because I certainly haven't felt like I am, he is still thinking that one over. I hope you can figure it out. If you need someone to chat with I can try to help if you want.

  67. For me, Twilight has been like a relationship. When I first discovered it around this time last year, I never ate. I was too busy reading Twilight. I was in love! I ended up losing 20 pounds. It was just like when you get a new boyfriend. Then after I read the saga multiple times, I started to get comfortable with it and started eating again. My Twilight DVD party last year was the turning point, sending me into an eating tailspin. My sister's Emmett grizzly bear and Edward's mountain lion shaped cookies were too delicious! Sound familiar? Needless to say, I gained it back. Ugh.

So....my fellow Twitard sister and sister-in-law and I started a blog called...."Fat Ass Bitches Getting Skinny". Seriously, that is the name. Look, I asked my sister what we should call it and that was the first thing that came out of her mouth. So it stuck. Anyway, we use a lot of Rob porn for inspiration, though my sis keeps reminding me that we need to do this for ourselves. She's probably right, but it fun to post pervy pics of Rob, with the caption "Do it for me..." LOL

Twilight was also helping me out with my working out. I attached the portable DVD player to the treadmill and would stay on for an hour at a time watching Twilight. That was until my son broke the treadmill. I have not forgiven him for that.

I think a Twilight related/diety type blog would be a hit. Just sayin....

We don't want everyone to believe the whole "Southerns love their fried chicken" myth...even though we do...we really really do. Can't wait to see y'all in Sept!

Can you share how you did this?

I'm sitting surrounded by every diet book I own(we're talking millions!), from low-carb(no fruit!) to The China Study (you're gonna die on low-carb!), and I'm starting to feel like the Tazmanian Devil, spinning in circles.

I've started a blog, but can't post until I figure out what the hell I'm going to do to lose 90+ pounds.

Help me, Obi-wan, you're my only hope :)

Anyone else willing to share ideas would be greatly and humbly appreciated.

I can keep the ideas all to my chubby little self, or post them with credit to the...um...I forgot the word- mind is going... originator of the idea. Or post them anonymously.

  70. @mytwilightdiet/Cheryl - I have started following Team Six Pack's blog (she also writes for I Love Boys Who Sparkle). She's already made the journey we need to begin and has educated herself on changing her lifestyle habits regarding eating and exercise. She is a sweetheart and willing to answer any and all questions.

I am also going to sign up for sparkpeople.com, as she suggests, (huh, hadn't made the connection until just this minute - spark - as in sparkle - as in Edward - as in everything goes back to Twilight somehow). It's free btw.

Here is a link to a great place to start on her blog. Take a look. Maybe I'll see you over there :)

  71. Lisa!

    Thanks for the link!

Yeah, I've been thinking this is the way to go, as I know my portions are not what they should be. So I've been reading the serving sizes on packages for the past couple of weeks (oh, this bag of mushroom ravioli is four servings, not one?!), and trying to eat like a NORMAL person.

I'm just really trying to over- complicate this and making myself nuts in the process :). Um...more nuts.

  72. @Cheryl - My husband just called about an hour ago. He is in great physical shape, but both of his parents have high cholesterol. He got the results of his blood work and they have been monitoring his levels the last couple of years. The levels are too high and they are putting him on cholesterol medicine, and he's borderline diabetic.

While I hate it that he has to deal with it, the timing couldn't be more perfect for me. We are going to sit down together tonight and talk about changing our eating habits . . . together.

Like I told TSP, my biggest downfall is not planning out my meals. It's takes time and discipline. I'm a ff one-shot quickie kind of girl, so I get the stuff that's bad for me because it's easier. It has to stop. We just got our wake up call. I'm putting my fork down for Forks and for my/our future :)

    Lisa

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lisa,

    Sure, sure...

Yup, same here- no planning and I've never heard of that discipline thingy. But I'll drive 30 minutes to get something I want because it's easier?! Ha!

Okay, schlumping off to plan a Twilight menu!!!!

    Cheryl, bounce back in step

  74. @ Lisa - Sorry to hear about your husband but I am also so happy to hear that you will both work together to get healthier. It is easier to do it as a team than alone, even if the team is not your family @ Cheryl :)

    lisa1721@gmail.com

@Dangrdafne - Thanks and, yes, it will be easier as a team - at home and in the bloggy world! I'm sure you'll be hearing more about it in my blog :)

  76. @Lisa good time for a wake up call since his diabetes is borderline. It really is reversible. Do you have the Dr. Oz setiesv about You? I bought them for my parents as they are accurate and an easy read.
Easiest weight loss plan ever. Take a small dinner plate and mentally split it into quarters. Fill a quarter with whole grains and another quarter with lean protein. Then fill the other half with veggies and as long as they aren't totally loaded with dressing or butter you should be good. This is what I tell my post heart attack patients.
Also read the prevention magazine series of books especially the one on diabetes prevention and beans and also the anti-cancer foods.
Hope this helps. Can you tell I have the week off? Not that I miss work but it's hard to contain all the info without spreading advice.

  78. What a fantastic story- made me all warm and fuzy! I am working on getting in shape again after having my third baby (Esme, remember STY?). I have lost the weight but everything is flabby and saggy. My motivation comes from Twilight Fanfiction- I want to have bourdoir photos done for my husband like Bella in CWIA did for Edward. I am remiss that I didn't do anything like this to immortalize my PRE-baby body, but I have a lot better tattoos now so it's exciting to get to showcase the ink!

  79. The first thing I thought when I read that the Forks trip was on, was:

PERFECT! Now I have a goal for my weight loss.

I'm coming out of 4 years of illness and was on meds that made me gain weight like nothing else. Now I'm SO ready to get rid of my "sick weight" and get healthy inside and out.

I'm totally down for whatever plan/motivational device you guys come up with.

  82. you all should check out the challenge over at LTT/LTR. It's already 6 weeks in but it's really awesome! You all could start up something similar. It's really working wonders for some people, the community atmosphere and the fact that you have about 20, really nice really supportive accountability partners rocks!
