Eclipse Brings Me To My Knees... In a Good Way! [Spoiler-ific!]

In case you missed it in the headline, there are spoilers ahead. Fucking huge ass spoilers. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Ahhhhh, Eclipse! I hated it. Nah, just kidding. If you believe that, then I've got a nice bridge to sell you!

Nobody puts Edward in the corner!

I. Fucking. Loved. This. Movie! I had a permanent grin on my face from the opening Summit logo to the closing credits. I'm not sure if it was the visions of Edward hitching my leg up around his waist swimming in my head, or the fact that I was sitting between Jenny Jerkface and Snarkier Than You for the first time evah, but I was a grinning fool.

There's so much good shit to talk about, where the hell do I start? I can't get into the stuff I disliked in the movie just yet... I'm not ready to go there. We're still in the honeymoon phase and I just need to talk about what made me happy and tingly!

First of all, David Slade, if you're reading this, you are a fucking genius and as a thank you, Jenny Jerkface has offered to give you a BJ. She told me herself. You can contact her at jennyjerkface@gmail.com to set up your date. I tried to get her to let you put it in her butt but she's drawing the line at sucking you off. Sorry. I hope this shows you how much we loved the movie. I hear she's good.

Ya, she's probably better than these douche nuggets.

Ok, now on to the movie...

When Edward and Bella appeared on screen for the first time in the meadow, making out, I'm pretty sure our entire row audibly gasped. Or moaned. One of those. I nearly passed out. Eclipse Edward is fucking hawt! And I mean, he's the kind of holy-fuck-if-I-bumped-into-you-on-the-street-I'd-rip-your-clothes-off-and-instantly-fuck-you-silly HOT! Luckily I don't run into that kind of hot in my every day life because that shit will get me in trouble.

Fucking hotness. That is all.

Now that we've covered the hotness, can he act? There were many scenes in the first two movies where I cringed at Rob's acting. There was zero cringing in Eclipse. He totally stepped up his game. And I'm not sure if that's a result of a director who wasn't happy with mediocrity or if RPattz is actually growing into one fine actor. I hope it's the latter. He just absolutely nailed Edward. I'd like to nail Edward too but that's a different post.

There was a perfect balance between angsty Edward and funny Edward and romantic Edward. I never felt like I wanted to smack him upside the head to snap him out of his broodiness. And let's not forget angry Edward... angry Edward makes me extremely tingly. Angry Edward makes me think of Fifty and all the dirty things he could do to me. How Bella doesn't start dry humping his leg during the post kiss fight scene between Jacob and Edward, I'll never know. I hope KStew at least gave him a little knob job action behind the scenes.

Let's just refresh our memories of Angry Edward and daydream...

I'm fairly certain there wasn't a Twitard out there that wasn't chomping at the bit for that leg hitch scene. I know I nearly bounced out of my seat when I sensed it was close. I think some folks were disappointed (I'm looking at you JJ), but I was not. Every time I see it, the heat disperses throughout my body and I feel a little dizzy. And I start trying to take my clothes off which really isn't appropriate in a public movie theater.

Dear Edward, my answer is YES! I will get naked with you!

It's been a while since I last read Eclipse, and I can't remember exactly how the whole scene plays out, but for on screen purposes, I found the entire scene to be perfect. And that heartfelt and romantic proposal... I almost screamed out "YES!" in the crowded theater. Maybe I did. It's all a blur.

Oh, and let's not forget the tent scene. Of course Jenny Jerkface had to remind me of Jacob's baby nipples so between that and listening for the famous line about keeping your farts to yourself, I was in a fucking giggling fit for most of this part. I felt so bad for Edward. If Bella reeeeeeally loved him, she would have risked frost bite to be with him and not let that little mutt rub his stink all over her. And Edward in that blue shirt... uh, yum-MY!

This blue shirt, but shit, be careful... you hurt him, I hurt you. That simple!

Speaking of clothing... surely we've all tried desperately to forget the epic fail of a wardrobe for every character in New Moon. I have to admit, I was kinda scared for Eclipse. And Edward. Poor, poor Edward - he's supposed to be just 17. Why on earth did they feel the need to dress him as a 109 year old? Eclipse got it so right, I never really noticed the clothing. Which is a good thing. Except Edward's because I'm sick and notice everything about him. I guess that's what happens when you just stare at someone for every second they're on screen.

We knew this movie was going to be action-packed. This must have been how ladies bribed their significant others to go to the movies with them. I saw a lot of dudes. A few too many dudes really. My husband wouldn't be caught dead at this movie... but then again, he's an a-hole when it comes to vampires and werewolves so I don't even try. I'm a sucker for some good action and Eclipse didn't disappoint. I totally fucking loved how David Slade had Cullens punching the heads right off the newborn vamps. That was, like, total awesomeness! The wolves kicked ass too. I want one. Ya know, as a pet, not as a boyfriend. Team Edward 4-EVER!

Ya, I did mean the fighting and shit, but I like this kinda action too!

So what did you love about Eclipse? What parts made you bounce in your seat and get all giggly and fan-girly squeee-y? How many times are you planning to fork over the cash to see it on the big screen? I'm shooting for a cool half dozen at least... Two down, four to go!

  1. I totally agree. Rob NAILED Edward this time around. In Twi & NM I felt he was too moody for his own good. This time you got to see funny, sexy, moody, angry and of course fuckhawt all melted together. YUMMY.

LMAO about JJ offering a BJ for David Slade. Um...JJ, I'd watch it. No matter how appreciative you are, I'm willing to bet it's 3 inches long and looks like an uncircumcised Vienna sausage.

    Just sayin'.

    xo J

PS LOVE the FIFTY reference. I'm rereading MOTU. Chapter 40 baby.

  2. Just got home from seeing it the 4th time. (Once was IMAX - awesome-sauce! Can't wait for FFFOOORRRKKKSSS!!!)

I'm just amazed at how Rob is transformed into Edward for these movies. And he was sofa king beautiful in this one, I almost cried over it.

IMHO there was too much kissing in this movie (maybe because I'm a NONSTEN and I just don't like seeing him kiss her!) But the kiss between Riley and Victoria was much hotter than the E&B smooches.

David Slade got it right! I loved all the vampire action scenes that we missed in the book. I think the only thing that was really missing was Bella's struggle over the choice between Edward and Jacob. That really didn't come across to me. Which might be a good thing because when I read the book (Eclipse is my favorite) I hated Bella for being such a whiny wishy-washy bitch. Hmm. Maybe I'm glad they didn't dwell on that in the movie - it would probably have meant more KStew stuttering and blinking scenes. I sure didn't miss that this time around!

  3. I kinda liked how they still called Bella's missing red shirt a blouse.
Even though it was kinda red plaid. And clearly not very blousey.

  4. OMG this post was all kinds of awesome!! And Jen, that Vienna sausage comment made me
laugh so hard my hubby is looking a me like I have lost it and I love it!! U guys rock!!

  5. LKW, I can't agree more with all of your musings. Eclipse OWNS my ass, both book and now movie. I am one satisfied customer, thanks to D. Slade. But I'm holding my BJ offer for Rob, sorry. JJ can have at that shit, no line, no waiting. ;)

So far I've only managed one (1) measly viewing of this epic masterpiece. *hangs head in fandom shame* But I'm hoping to redeem myself soon. My husband is going through another of his "you are too obsessed with this shit" phases and so I've consented to take the Robward calendar out of the bedroom. I'm nice like that.

  6. I squeed my pants off in the bedroom proposal scene. It is seriously now my favourite movie scene ever. Rob just absolutely nailed that courting speech and Edward finally seemed tender and lovable!

I had a massive issue with the weird accents though, namely Carlisle and Jasper. Did they suddenly decide that since Carlisle was from London he should fall in and out of a pathetic English accent? And what the hell was with Jasper? It was as if after he told us he was from Texas he was suddenly all like "How y'all doin ma'am"!!

I agree about the E/J struggle. They went on and on about it in promo but where was it really in the movie? AND I just hate how she kisses Jake and then she come back and Edward's all like "ok." Pathetic! I know that's how it happened in the book but I want more angryward!!

BUT overall I absolutely loved it :-D Definitely the best of the three!!

  7. Seen it once. With DH laughing way too loud during the proposal scene and causing me to bust up too (yeah, you would have been pelting us with jujubees were we in your theatre) Thus totally justifying my need to see it in the theatre again. Soon. Not sure when, but I'll make it hapen.

I love how 'updated' the movie seems from the book. All of them seem this way to me (like hello, cell phones existed way back a few years ago when SM wrote the things) But Eclipse seems to have captured the most of the good while weeding out the redundancy. And Edward hands down looks the best in Eclipse. Like hands down (my pants) looks the best.

And funny, 'cause I actually thought I felt the pain of Bella's choice more in the movie than the book overall.

Basically, I was really really pleased. Want to see it again. Felt it was more complete than either of the others. I actually likd the characters more than I do in the books. But I'm just not a squeeeer,so I don't have any squee moments.

  8. I've been waiting for this post!!!!

The first time I saw this, at the Twilight Experience on opening night, I was so freaking excited I barely even remembered anything that happened. Good thing I've seen it two times since then! Hey, what ELSE can I do when a friend calls me up to say she hasn't seen it yet? Clearly I am obligated to go with her.

    Some of my favorite parts:

-Charlie and Bella scene in the kitchen, I DIED, so funny!!

-I very much appreciated that David Slade gave us a close up of our very own leg hitch. Dude was paying attention.

-Action! Several decapitations! Wolfy teeth and growling! Sweeeeeeet.

-Tent. Scene. The "Let's face it, I'm hotter than you" line got SO MANY LAUGHS every time I've seen it, I love it! That is, of course, just one small part of what makes this scene fuckawesome.

-I really think the acting ante was upped on all counts, KStew, our boy, and Taycob.

-Did anyone else bust an ovary every time Riley was on screen?? DAMN, I want that boy. Seriously, the Riley/Victoria kiss had me squirming in my seat. I think I whimpered a little bit every time Xavier showed up. Fuck me, Riley. Fuck me with your neck biting and your teeth baring.

-"I kissed Bella. And she broke her hand. Punching my face."

This is all i can think of at the moment, but SQUEEEEE, loved it! I, too, had my quibbles, LKW, but I'm still in the honeymoon, not ready to address them yet!

@beckther - I actually read an interview (I think in EW?) where Jackson described how they decided to use the accent. It's his real accent, btw, he's from Texas! But basically, his justification was that he hides it most of the time, being in Forks, but when he's most in his element, when he's acting like a general and instructing the Cullens on how to fight, that's when it starts to come out. So there IS something of an explanation!

  9. Oh, sorry to post so much, but I just thought of this!

I know that there are not many Jacob fans here, but he holds a very special place in my heart. :) So, the kiss!

Honestly, I felt a little uncomfortable in the scene leading up to it where Bella has to ask him to kiss her - it didn't quite ring true to me, but I don't know if that was the acting or the script, or just the source material. Maybe it's not *supposed* to quite "ring true." But the kiss itself, man it was hot. Taylor, you can shirtless-kiss me all day if you want to, I don't care if you're six years younger than me and barely legal.

One thing that DID stand out to me was how just before she follows Jake, Edward says her name to make her come back, and she whirls around and goes, "DON'T!" Damn, girl! I actually liked this a lot - I really understood right then just how much she cares about Jacob, and can't stand to see him hurt - that said more to me than her "don't go die, kiss me please" speech.

Okay, now that I'm positive I'm no longer making sense, I'm done!

  10. Loved it. Bt what the fuck did Bella wear to the graduation party? Come on...

  11. "He just absolutely nailed Edward. I'd like to nail Edward too but that's a different post."

what?! why? ha! Those 2 lines just made me LOL all over the place.
I agree, Rob really did step up his game. I get the feeling Slade said "listen you douchebag, don't ruin my film" and then flogged him silly...ah, wait, nevermind...

    ReplyDelete
  12. I squeed WAY more during this movie than either of the previous two! David Slade pwns me! He just nailed EVERY aspect I was hoping he'd get.

FINALLY Edward has a sense of humor!!! My biggest complaint - bar none - was his lack of laughs and teasing. Until now!

The proposal and her yes were fantastic! Jacob was angry enough and Taycob acted it so well.

The Precious was amazing on all counts! He acted the shit out of Edward, he looked fuckhawt, and he hitched that leg like nobody's business!

I've been once and will go in two days with MusingBella! Plus - a friend is coming into town and has said she's not going until she's with me! :)

  13. I fell in love with the soundtrack before I saw the movie with the Cee Low Green song What Part of Forever being my favorite. (I know, JJ is gagging right now....)Anyway, at my first viewing I didn't remember hearing it all and felt disappointed. So I had my 2nd viewing today and now I'm sure, it's nowhere in the movie.

Does anyone know where in the movie it showed up? Aren't all songs on soundtracks from movies IN the movie or have I been living under a rock? Anyone able to help?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Fooorkspimp: Oh right!! Well I suppose that makes a bit more sense now. Still doesn't explain Carlisle tho...

And yes I LOVED Bella's "Don't!" at Edward. I was like yes!! You go gurrl! lol

@shipstress: Every time I see that graduation party scene I have a wtf moment. Seriously guys! She looks like a complete douchebag who no one would want to hang out with. Or like she's just come back from her secret double life as a janitor.

    ReplyDelete
  15. LKW, great post, as always.

My fave parts where everyone's fave parts. Let's start with numero uno.

    1) Leg hitch/proposal. Robward looked so hot, it was stupid. BUUUUUT, I did have one complaint. In the book, Bella had the full court press on Edward - she was not going down without a fight. And Kristen Stewart just gave up far too easily. (I felt like my history buff dad when he watches war movies and complains that this is fake and historically inacurate bullshit.) Because there's no way in HELLZ that Bella -- or any living, breathing thing would've given up like that. GAH!) But regards, it was so yummy. And then when Bella said yes to Edward's proposal and she leaped off the bed into his arms...that killed me, like in a really good way. How can you go from sexual hot to oh so sweet in like 2.2 secs? Lovies.

So this may be controversial here at Twitarded, but my numero dos fave scene was the mountain top Jella kiss.

Ultimately, my allegience is to Edward, obvy. But good grief, that Jacob can really make a girl's lady bits tingle too. First, let me say that I re-read Eclipse right before seeing the movie and I had to read that kissing scene like three times because it was so juicy. And so when Jake did the "three long strides" to Bella and took her face and laid one really, super - checking my clock - long kiss on her - and then, added another baby peck - I was literally picking my jaw off the sticky floor and stuffing my eye ballz back in my head. That kiss was HOT and might I add - longer than any Edward and Bella kiss! As soon as I get the DVD, my rewind button is gonna get stuck in the down position over this scene. And leg hitch, 'course.

I've seen the movie twice and plan on at least once more. And in IMAX, natch.

p.s. I didn't hear "Heavy in your Arms" off the soundtrack either and that really bugs because I was looking forward to seeing what scene it would play during. Like oh I don't know - the Jella kiss! People!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Luv luv Loved the review LKW.. couldn't agree more!

Saw Eclipse twice now.. and I must say, if you've not seen it in IMAX... GO. RIGHT. NOW.

I remember when DS was keeping tight lipped and no pics or vids were circulating yet and my friends said DS was probably going to end up ruining Eclipse. I declared that I thought he might just be an evil genius -- keeping quite and then BAM.. hitting us with all his awesomeness at once! Yeh..I had fun with the 'I told ya so's.'

Eclipse was definitely the best movie so far. Edward was finally funny and dare I say? ..a little snarky?!

Gah! THEE LEG HITCH scene was all that I hoped for. Yep, there were definite audible sighs during that smexiness (me included). And Edward telling Bella how he would have courted her, made me and my panties melt even more...

I really really loved the sparing scenes. Smirky Edward sparing with sauve Daddy C-- Good Gahd too much fucking hot! Jasper sparing/flirting with Alice-- so goddamn cute.. almost nauseatingly so. I really loved Jacksper in this one.. sans wig of course. And I'm a big fan of that southern drawl he had going on.

@Fooorkspimp: Totally agree. All the actors definitely stepped up their game. And whether you love or hate Kstew, you gotta admit she did such a much MUCH better job acting this time 'round.
And oh yeh.. I was definitely digging Riley.. especially during the fhawt sucky face time with Victoria-- He bit her fucking lip for christsakes!!! Xavier's a definite hottie.

I was upset they left out Edward saying to hell with it and trying to seduce Bella in the meadow at the end... wait that WAS in the book, right? ... sorry my brain is complete fanfiction mush..

JJ-- what a trooper... taking one for the team! Hey, maybe word will get around how 'talented' you are and how good your little 'present' was for DS... and it'll get back to Rob ..and hey, maybe curiosity will get the best of him....

  17. @imh22 - cee low green song is third in the credits.

@courtney - 'heavy in your arms' plays second in the credits. the first song in credits is the one by metric.

btw - i fkg love love love your blog!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @caninecologne - Thank you, thank you, thank you! I usually stay till the last credit rolls off the screen, but I did leave each time mere seconds before they were done never thinking in a million years that the song that was playing then wouldn't be the last one.

Is your screen name indicating that you are Team Jacob? LOL.

@Courtney - I figured they would play that song when Jake was carrying Bella, or at least that's when they would play it if he was carrying me!! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Courtney. "Heavy in your arms" is the second song played while the credits are rolling. Waaaaaay after everyone has already filed out of the theater.
I've seen in 4 times now. (This surprises even me.) David Slade seriously knocked this one out of the park. Every moment Edward was on screen made me salivate.
The tent scene...GAH!!! Edward is exquisite. All I can think about is how much I want to lick his teeth.
I also LOVED the battle scene! It gets me bouncin up and down in my seat!
Watching Bella and jacob kiss makes me cringe. I know it is an important part of the book (which I actually threw across the room the first time I read that part)but it is painful to see. All I can think is... HE SMELLS LIKE A DOG!
But yea, I plan to see it again, and again...

    ReplyDelete
  20. @imh22 and @caninecologne Thanks for pointing out that they played "Heavy in your Arms" during the credits. What a horrible choice! That song is like my fave on the whole soundtrack!! So many other places, and yes, when Jacob carrying her makes sense too!

And in other strange song/scene news, I thought fer sure they'd play "Let's Get Lost" during the leg hitch scene and they played it in such a random part - when she read Jake's letter. IDK what some of these peeps were thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Luxie, YES! Edward did say the hell with it in the meadow at the end! I was surprised it was left out. When it was over, my friend and I sat gaping at eachother. I thought it was pretty important since SHE was finally being the "moral" one. (Maybe that was just a little TOO unbelievable.)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Saw it 2x so far - the second time I shoulda brought a drool cup 'cuz any time Edward was on screen I just stared, mouth agape, mind wandering to very wicked places. In some scenes my mind was able to completely block out Bella. It was just Edward and me in our own little Twi-bubble.

I loved much of the movie but oddly enough I got the most SQUEEE-ful during the practice fights and the actual battle w/the newborns. I could hardly stay in my seat 'cuz I wanted to join the fight and kick some newbie ass too!! Oh, and I think I fell a wee bit in love w/Jasper during this movie. That took me by surprise but his crooked smile made me melt.

Ooh! And Edward yelling at Victoria that she would never have a chance at this again. I just 'bout died. Angry protective Eclipse Edward is something I'm never gonna get sick of watching. Ever.

I gotta get in a bit 'bout my Jakey. I feel protective over the little shit for some reason and I'm crushed that his big wolfie heart is broken. I think Taylor did a pretty decent job.

Most awesome creepy part - at the end where Riley turns to Edward and says "You're dead." Fuckin' awesome!

The Volturi sucked big blistered donkey 'nads. Gawd, they were horrible!

Billy Burke - So great as I expected!

David Slade is the reigning king of Twi-movie-dom! All hail!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I am so totally with anyone who wants to reward Mr. Slade with a BJ. Wow, it was FABULOUS! And I LOVE angry Edward. Hot does not even begin to describe it. I think I watched that trailer 50 times. UHGH!!!

I love that you mentioned Fifty. I'm reading MOTU for the first time because I heard you mention it on a podcast. I'm on chapter 67 and when I hit "next" Twilighted came up blank. It must've been down for a couple of minutes and in a sheer moment of panic I went to your site to try to sate my Twihabit.

    You Rock!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought the same thing about Rob's acting - he nailed Edward.

My favourite part is definitely the leg hitch. I reacted exactly like you - I shifted in my seat, wondering if someone had turned the heating on.
David Slade is a genius. That's all.

Oh, btw, I see you added the Breaking Dawn widget already. I'm not ready to do that just yet. I'm still swimming in the Eclipse.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Only seen it once so far... but Jasper! That boy is fuckhawt!! I nearly passed out seeing him up on that horse. And that sexy little smile he does in the practice fight scenes *dies*

I've been far too corrupted by twific for the tent scene to live up to my expectations, but still niiiiiice! Really liked the whole movie (bar the wigs) but RPattz coulda stood there like a stunned mullet and I still would have been drooling.

I would never say no to more Edward/Bella kissing scenes, but if I got everything I wanted in this movie it would be 6 hours long and rated R ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think my favorite was when Jacob, delusionally, asserted that he was hotter than Edward. But, I live in the Czech Republic, and no one laughed at it... it must not translate in the subtitles, because that was hilarious.

Also loved: how Edward was hawt. Also, how he was SO MAD about Jacob all the time. I loved his glowering pissed off-ness. Proposal was nice, as was the action... tho I would have traded some of it for a little more lingering on the romance...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Completely agree. I was worried about David Slade but the movie was really the best of the three. Seeing it as a triple header was wonderful - the campiness of the first one where we ended up laughing at all the cheesy stuff, the stupidness of Edward leaving in NM and surprisingly not getting bored with all the Jacob stuff, and then finally seeing the proposal was wonderful. I still missed my favourite line from the books where when she asked if she likes seeing his ring on her he then whispers in her ear "you have no idea" - like he's going to combust - so hot! I just imagine that's what he says when they are hugging behind the glass after she says yes.
There was a good balance of Edward moods. I didn't cringe at their hair as much as I dreaded so that was good. Except Carlisle hairline was just a touch too low on the forehead. Nikki Reed was good and I actually fell in love with Riley and his smooth skin.
I personally didn't mind Edward in NM because I really do like guys in sport coats and suits, even if they're supposed to be 17 - sue me if I like older men. But the wardrobe in this one was better. Alice's makeup was great and her wardrobe was better. I was pleasantly surprised at Bryce Howard being Victoria and couldn't say that Rachel would have done better.
The action was good but I still don't think I'll get Mr. TC to see it. The guy will drive to Forks but won't sit in the theatre for 3 hrs with me listening to girls scream at Rob and Taylor.
Okay, this saves me from doing my own Eclipse review on my blog :)
    Thanks LKW

  28. I LOVED this movie. Seen it three times now and will be forking over my husband's hard earned money to see at least 3 more times, probably all in Imax, cause 73 foot of Edward was even better. I can't even imagine how many times I will be watching this movie when I can do it in my own home...

I was only slightly disappointed with where some of the songs off the soundtrack played. I mean "Heavy" during the credits? Best song on the soundtrack and save it for the credits?

  29. JAW PORN! Ladies...you know what I am talking about! Close ups of crooked smiles, jaw lines, open shirt, whispered promises of love, and shots of his hands in her hair...and other places. Dear God!!! Panty dropper...What I would do to that poor boy?! My lucky husband gets to reap the booty of Rob-lust.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha, I love getting up in the morning and reading Twitarded comments - they crack me up!!

@beckther - Haha, I know, that is no justification for Carlisle's half-assed British accent. I totally lost it every time he said pretty much ANYTHING. Especially at the "Someone's creating an aahhhmeeee" part - I giggled out loud, and no one else did - clearly no Twitards in my theater!

Also, "double life as a janitor" - LOVE IT! Haha, do I smell a new fanfic? "Bella's got it tough enough, leading her double life: high school student by day, school janitor by night. But when she starts dating Edward Cullen (secret trysts in the janitor's closet?!), a mysterious vampire, she has to lead a TRIPLE life. HOW WILL SHE DO IT?!"

@Courtney, you ain't the only one girl, that kiss was HOT!

@Luxie - I was waiting for Edward to seduce Bella in the meadow too! But I totally hear you on my brain being ff mush - I read TSSLOBT waiting for people to do it, it felt so much like a fanfic!

@Franki - I think I died when I read "I feel protective of the little shit..." XD

    ReplyDelete
  31. Excellent review LKW - you slay me!

I fucking love this movie. LOVE IT! I thought I loved the first two, I do love them, but not like this!

THANK YOU DAVID SLADE! You got it right! Most of it. Certainly the most important part: Edward. BRAVO I didn't realize Edward could get hotter! But somehow, like magic, his hotness is expontentially more. I'm surprised I haven't heard of any theatres flooding due a outbreak of exploding vaginas!!

RPattz deserves a lot of credit, his acting was very much improved. Thank gawd they actually gave him some character to work with, which he didn't have in the other two. "liking Edward a little bit more" :)

@JJ - I can't get past Taytay's baby nipples either. The last time I giggled until I was crying!

    ReplyDelete
  32. OMG! There was so much shit in the movie that I just loved... I probably could have gone on forever! The Charlie/Bella sex talk is just priceless!!

And I totally didn't mention the eyes... I love love love that they brought back the black eyes that were so sadly missed in New Moon!!

And I hate to say this, but I'm just NOT a Jacob fan. I just want to throat punch him. Sorry Team Jacob.

  33. I looooooooooved the movie. Finally, Edward was exactly how I pictured him the book - fuckhawt, charming, funny, protective, etc. Rob nailed it. And Jacksper surprised me, I adored him in this film. And helloooooo Xavier, damn.

I'll echo everyone's comments and add that a line I wish they would have included was at the end of the fight scene (and called out at the end of the Bree Tanner novel), when Edward says "Don't watch." In Eclipse I liked that he told that to Bella, and then reading Bree and her thinking he was talking to her (which he could have been). I thought that would have been a nice way of ending that scene in the movie.

Well done, Mr. Slade!! I give it a 5 vajayjay rating!

Taking in my second viewing on Monday. Can't. Wait.

  34. I still need to see it a couple more times beofre I decide which parts are my favorite. I DO KNOW that I loved all the fighting scenes. And the one in the begining when The Cullens & The Wolf Pack are chasing Victoria up the line. I also have to say that Riley was quite nice to look at as well.

    @itallhurts
Let me just say that in real life there probably are more people in Forks with land line telephones than cell phones. It's really hard to get a decent signal out there. Seriously.

  35. @CanineCologne - thank you, it's been driving me nuts that I couldn't find Heavy in your Arms in the movie!!

@LKW "He just absolutely nailed Edward. I'd like to nail Edward too but that's a different post."
    LOL and SIGH-Wouldn't we all!?!

I just had to come back and comment on more favorite parts.

I LOVED everything involving the meadow, Edward's bedroom, Bella & Edward kissing, tents, leg hitching or proposals. Oh, and fuckhawt angry Edward.

    loved the following lines:

Emmett: Something to look forward to.

Charlie: liking Edward a little bit more.

Jake: I am hotter than you

More kudos for Rob for the emotion Edward displays during the proposal. He sure looks like a crying vampire.

  36. I loved the movie, it's by far my favourite. Loved the Leg hitch / proposal, the tent scene, battle scenes. Oh hell all of it.

    My beefs.....

    The ring holy fugly shit...
Sorry I know I'll be ducking and covering for this... But shit I wouldn't want that monstrosity on my finger.

Hair especially in all the stills that were released before the movie. Everyone's hair looked like they had been standing out in the rain for god knows how long. WTF?!? Alice where were her spikes? Jasper gone was the scary poodle from New Moon, but did it just grow out a bit.
    Just saying..

The scene where Bella imagines herself married to Jake? Where was that?
When we were at the sets during the filming of Eclipse Bella's house was set up for what looked like a Halloween scene. Talking to the people setting up the house they said that it was for a flash scene where Bella and Jacob were married had kids. Didn't see that or was I so distracted by Rob's awesomeness?!?

    Carlisle’s accent

  38. David Slade fucking BROUGHT IT.
I get an electric jolt in my vagina just thinking about how hot Robward is in this movie. Eclipse pwns me HARD and I can't wait to see it again. I was pretty much a pile of mush during the proposal scene. Rob's acting was way better this time and he killed it during the tent scene. Jacob annoyed the shit out of me. I wanted to kick him in the nads everytime he appeared on screen (sorry Team Jacob).

  39. Loved the movie. Have seen it twice, once on IMAX. Best of the Saga so far. Also my favorite book. Edward was incrdible. A lot of scenes were combined. They did leave out Edward saying the deals off at the end. Also no mention of Tanya and the Denali clan. Loved the proposal. Charlie always great.

@IMH22 & Courtney-For info regarding the soundtrack. Go to stardusttrailers.com. Search for the Eclipse Soundtrack lyrics and scenes position. The songs you asked about were in the end credits.

  41. Hi Twitardom, JJ, STY, LKW, Myg!! I'm a newbie...well to comment at least. I feel as though I finally came out of the closet! Well, not in "that" sense and not literally. That would be weird if I were hiding out in the dark and reading twitarded in a closet. Back to the topic... I have been getting closer to commenting with each post. I began following in Jan 2010- (yes, I was one of those creepy people stalking and breathing in the background)- but started reading/following the series in 2008. Discussing Eclipse and the movies, hell Twilight in general, will get me off my ass and pipe up though!

Eclipse. I loved it! I feel like DS finally captured the MOOD. YES!
From Edward's humor, smexyness, anger, protectiveness to the "look" of the scenes. A little darker and moody without going into campy blue scenes.

I think this has to do a lot with several things...
    1. David Slade - he's very particular (perhaps strong-willed) with his vision in order to get it right. He doesn't target 13y/os and use kid gloves to focus on a teen-movie. (horror genres also probably helped) He wanted the actors to get away from same ol' character images from the other movies.-no more brooding Edward! Laaaaadies, our Robward has arrived!! Amen! Hallelujah! I have to say, I was optimistically skeptical with DS. Definitely happy now...but not quite as much as JJ. (that's all yours girl *shutter*)
    2. Actors - The actors are learning who these characters are with each movie. And maybe more comfortable working with each other. It shows. Visually, I think this works since in the books, I think they are also learning more about each other. Enough to make "snarky" comments. :D
    3. Script -whether you like MR or not, it was better. Yes, things were left out but tone came across for me. Still debating Bella's sudden independent streak but I think it worked. Not perfect but worked.

OK So HERE IT IS. I have I heard it criticized over and over again about the lack of down right sex-driven, panty-meltin, full inhibition, wild abandon make-out scenes between E&B in the movies. Eclipse was MUCH better yes, we all agree. NM makeouts were kinda painful to watch. I thought Twilight was better than NM. But I see it like this...
Edward pushed too far in Twilight and learned quickly he could kill her. NM he was WAY overly cautious. UGH! Eclipse he is learning his boundaries, enough to kiss without grunting noises apparently. SO.... in Breaking Down 2(forget BD1), if E&B (now both vampires) don't have tongue down frenchies, sex-on-fire makeout sessions enough to literally make Twitardom gasp in unison and several cardiac arrests then Summit failed. Totally. Complete series down the toilet. That's what we are waiting for. Ok me. And for all those FF fans. BTW, Myg..i love you. Osa Bella rules my world.

Now I'm here. You can't shut me up. I am so in the honeymoon stage of Eclipse!

  42. I've seen it 6 times! I can't fucking get enought. I've cried like a 13 year old at a Justin Beiber concert. Every fucking time too. That fucking proposal kills me!

I may or may not have passed out when I first saw Rob in Eclipse. I've never seen him so hot. PERFECTION isn't even a good enough word.

  43. My favorite part out of the whole movie had to be the engagment. I went to the midnight premiere and once Bella said yes, the whole audience errupted in applause and whoops. (Most of them coming from my row and the row in back of me) Shout out to the Team Jacob moms I met there! Plus, I agree with you on angry Edward. I am a TOTAL Team Jacob fan but I got smiley on ma face when Edward said "Let me give you a clue..." Who wouldn't want to get a clue from him? So, I am Team Edward for that scene. I dont know if it's me or not, but I always get a tingle when guys are assertive for their women, including if it's with me. :D I loved the fight scenes as well! I loved how the couples worked together. CUTE! And, I think you missed when Jasper told his story and the cute Jasper and Alice scenes. Everyone was "aww"ing like crazy in the theater. But, David Slade is AH-some! I loved 30 Days of Night and I was glad when he was did Eclipse. It is my favorite book of the saga and he didn't let me down. Love ya, Slade! You didn't eff up a thing!

  44. I liked it, but the sound was all screwed up in our theater so I'm waiting for my sister in law to get back from her business trip to go again. KStew sounded like she had to clear her throat the whole time and during the leg hitch the music was like 2 cats fighting. Totally killed the romantic vibe....

Nobody wanted to get up to complain because we'd miss part of it, so we all suffered through it like morons.

@SouthShoreMama - Ha! Similar thing happened to me when I went the 2nd time. Instead of going to complain and hence missing stuff I'd already seen before, my bf went but poor guy, what's he really supposed to do? Having a penis and all pretty much takes away your right to complain that "the twilight movie's sound is off." I think he was given skeptical looks and so he tossed in "my gf's seen it before and she says something's not right." Needless to say, they did nothing.

I kinda wanted to stand in the theater and be like if you haven't seen it before leave! It made the movie absolutely awful. There was no bass. You couldn't hear the songs, the wolves growling, Riley's painful screaming, the crescendo of the fight scenes or pitch changes when the actors raised their voices during pivotal moments. And yet we sat through it all. I think I now owe my bf about eleventy brownie points. brownie points=bjs in his world.

  46. I've only seen Eclipse once so far - and that was sandwiched between my hubby [who complained that it was the biggest pile of dross he'd ever seen :-o ] and my two sons - one of whom has read the saga twice, the other who hasn't read the books at all (though I've now found the 1st book by his bedside - there is hope!).

Have to admit - if you've not read the books, I think you'd probably find the movie a little hard to follow in parts :-/ Although David Slade (we're not worthy!!!!!) totaly nailed it and the main actors have totes stepped up their game [RPattz inparticular of course ;-) ], some of the action didn't make a load of sense, and seemed to jump about a bit. Just sayin'

But, on the subject of HAWTness ;-) Rob had me squirming in my seat in every scene :-D Leg-hitch, tent, fights - particularly fighting Victoria! - he is the epitomy of perfection!!!!!

    I thank you :-)

wv: patio - I'd have him anywhere - even there ;-)

  47. I loved Eclipse! I loved almost everything about it. I thought Rob was fantastic as Edward. Perfect. I loved the costumes. The wigs didn't look half as bad as in NM/ hair in twi. Make-up was great.
As for scenes. The leg hitch was just...perfect. It was hot. It was sexy. It was wmsweet and awkward and romantic. I loved it. The music the lights the everything was perfect.
I loved the Jasper backstory and any other scene Jasper was in - Team Jasper (and Edward) over here.
The fight training was humourous yet really cool aswell.
The war was good to watch. I lived the New Born scenes and all the time that Exward and Bella spent together - I missed having them interact alot as it isn't like they're together for much of NM.
Charlie was hilarious espec with the virginity talk. In other words I loved almost everything about it.

  48. ok fully team jacob here and eclipse edward made me think about becoming team threesome. i really liked how less stuttery and blinky bella was. she seemed to have grown some as a person. i actually cried when jake and bella kissed on the mountain. knowing she is going to break his heart and leave him with the demon child. arrgghhhh. in the book, after seeing jacob wounded she spends all night crying and hysterical- mourning the loss of jacob and the life(i.e. children) she would have had with him. i didnt get the sense she mourned anything in the movie. made me want to bitch slap her.
ok- crooked smile and texas drawl totally made me want to jump jasper.

  50. Why am I so late commenting on this? Story of my life. I went for my second viewing Thursday. I almost Hulked out when some douche behind me left his cell phone on. Not only did it ring during the leg hitch, but he ANSWERED IT! Had he not been five times my size & covered in human blood (I may have been imaging that) I would've dropped his ass right then & there.

I kept thinking I wish I was rich so I could rent out the whole theater, Daddy Warbucks style & watch the movie by myself on a constant loop. I can't wait to see it again. And again.

  51. @TexasKatherine, the third time I went to see it, some guy answered his phone and walked out of the theater right as Bella is 'breaking up" with Jacob. In my head, I was like, you just KNOW he's like, "DAMN IT I was Team Jacob, that ho! I can't take this anymore" and stormed out of the theater. :)
