The Eclipse Experience Pt. III: Long Drives, Leg Hitches and Loads of Fun! [Spoiler Free]

Well friends, as you've surely heard already, I finally made it down to New Joisey to see my Twitarded besties and I have to say, everything went ridiculously fabulous! It's funny... I wasn't the least bit nervous as I embarked on my trip - not only my first IN-person meeting with Jenny Jerkface and Snarkier Than You, but also my first solo drive from Maine to NJ. All the stars were aligned for my drive down and I arrived in 6 hours flat - much to the surprise (and shock) of STY who was soooo not ready for me!

Glad I'm not driving this freeway everyday. I'd rather walk.

I think it was only as I exited off the Garden State Parkway that I had just a twinge of holy-fuck-what-if-they-don't-like-in-person-me-will-I-have-to-drive-home-today-too??? And that was quickly followed by a jeezus-gawd-I-really-hope-they're-not-serial-killers-who-have-lured-me-here-to-harvest-my-organs thought. Not the case - I'm still here, organs and friendships still in tact!

Packing for this trip stressed me out more than anything. I knew it was going to be hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock, so jeans were out of the question. I settled on about four different outfits to pick from for our jaunt into NYC to see Eclipse - trying to choose shit that wouldn't scream I'm-a-fucking-redneck-from-Maine! I knew JJ would be donning a pretty dress (as she always does which I think is so weird, but whatever) and I definitely don't do dresses. Thankfully STY joined me in wearing flip flops so I didn't feel too out of place!

Not a good look for Eclipse in the City... what if Edward had shown up? Embarrassing!

I have to say that Jenny Jerkface and Snarkier Than You are two of the most lovely, crazy fun ladies I've had the pleasure of meeting. I was so glad that our online friendship translated so well into an in-person friendship. It was so wonderful to get some big tight hugs from them both (accompanied by much squeeeeing), and I honestly didn't give two shits about the musical instrument vomit in JJ's living room! Or the ferret who was desperately trying to break into my bag to steal some stuff. But I got to sleep on an Edward Cullen pillow case so that's all that matters! And to top it all off with a nice big juicy cherry, I got to also hang out with the very talented (and also lovely) Myg.

I only got the pillow case. If JJ really loved me like she says she does, I would've gotten the whole bedding ensemble. [Not my actual bed.]

It's been a while since I've been to NYC with someone other than my husband, and I'm always jogging to keep up with him so I don't lose him in the crowd - he's a full foot taller than I am so I need to take three strides to his one. I guess it was good practice because for being a shorty, that Jenny Jerkface fucking motors though the crowd. When we finally made it to the bar to meet TJ and Lorabell, I was nearly ready to die from chasing down JJ the Speed Racer in 95 degree heat.

As hot as it was, I found that I really didn't give a flying fuck. I was standing in line with a bunch of totally awesome fellow Twitards, waiting to see Eclipse! And it was soooooo worth the wait! I had a smile on my face from the opening credits to the closing credits and couldn't have been happier with the job David Slade did directing. And yes, I may be willing to offer him sexual favors for making Edward look that good! Fuck me, did he look good! So good I spent a good portion of the movie shifting uncomfortably in my seat looking for a little friction. Yup, I'm a slut...

I don't normally broadcast it like this...

So many thanks and hugs and big, wet smooches to JJ and STY for giving me a place to hang my hat and showing me such a great time! And for forcing talking me into making the trip down. You know I would have been so pissed if I had stayed home and followed all that fun shit on Twitter... Someone would've gotten a nut punch, and it probably would've been Mr. Latchkey Wife.

  2. So glad you went! I of course stayed here in the sticks, but Eclipse was epic even up here. I'm hoping to get in a second showing this weekend. I've been a little under the weather so I haven't been able to imbibe as much as I'd intended.

  5. So glad you had fun and got to see the big city. I went to the Cinemagic near the maine mall and it was PACKED!!!! I had one of those crappy corner seats because my cousin wanted to eat at McDonalds first. Bitch. She apparently doesnt understand my phisiological need to oggel Edward at the proper angel; straight on baby!

Cant wait to discuss the movie. I have one thing to say; the black eyes we're so feral and wild looking I wanted to jump Edwards fucking bones right there and then! GAH!

  6. I am still a wee bit jealous...sniff. Really I am glad you all had such a great time. I take great comfort in knowing if a hick from Maine can cut it with JJ and STY then a city girl from Seattle is a shoe in. I love you LKW...and your shoes.

    FFFOOOORRRRRKKKKKKSSSSSSS!

  7. I'd love to know what exit on the Parkway, JJ?? My daughter and I went to see Eclipse on Wed at the 6:15 showing in Hazlet, NJ (exit 114) and someone pulled the fire alarm right at the tent scene!!!!! Luckily, they let us back in after waiting for 25 minutes for the fire trucks to leave! Can't wait to talk about details....I abso-fuckin'-lutely loved this movie over the other two!!! And don't get me wrong, I loved the other two.

  8. Yeah, David Slade ROCKED it with makeing Edward finally look like a HOT VAMPIRE and not just some hot dude off of the street. Can you imagine what he could've gotten out of him for the first biology scene? Maybe he would've looked fierce and not just like some guy with a digestive problem.

  11. I LOVE the line "going to be hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock" Where do you guys come up with these wonderful sayings that make me laugh outloud at inappropriate times in inappropriate places. They make my day!

I'm glad you had such a good time despite the heat.

  12. Ok, yes, Edward looked lovely and I think Slade did a really good job. And seriously, can we give a hand to M. Rosernberg, I mean she's got HUNDREDs of pages to wade through to find the plot to write a screenplay with for these movies, and she's doing it!

But, whoever did the makeup: thanks for Edward being less pancakey and very lovely, but clearly you have a THING for eyebrows. I was a little bit scared of Edward's. Bellas were...crooked. Rosalie's were taking over her face.

Clearly, I'm ready to stop feeling sorry for myself for having to drag my reluctant hubs to the flick (OK, not quite ready to stop) and am ready to talk about the movie!

  13. So I'm totes stoked that you had a bad-ass-mother-fucking time with JJ & STY. I'm even more stoked that the reason you drove down was for Eclipse.

  14. LKW, that choker matches the anklet I found for you! STY & I can team up for your birthday. I'm so glad you had fun & I'm even happier that JJ didn't leave you in a bathtub full of ice & make off with your liver. She needs a new one, you know.
