Eclipse Virgins & Just-The-Tippers: Time to Catch Up! [Spoilers Aplenty!]

So after months and months of suffering through the release of Eclipse trailers and stills and clips and other assorted juicy tidbits that I wouldn't watch because I wanted to give myself a change to revirginize before June 29th, I thought I’d take a few minutes to go back, look at what-all I’d given up, and determine once and for all if it was really worth it to torture myself like that. I’ve asked my fellow non-spoiler-whore Texas Katherine to ponder with me, since she was even more diligent than I was and had not seen a lick of footage from Eclipse--none!!!-prior to unshackling her Twi-chastity belt and giving her Twymen they thrashing of its short little lifetime last weekend.

TK had that shit LOCKED. UP. Tight.

Here's what she had to say!

I, too, have been culling the Eclipse archives to see what my chastity belt deflected. I didn't even see the movie poster until I bought tickets online. I tried to cover my eyes, but then I almost bought tickets to some chick flick that was NOT Eclipse. Not cool.

DH & I watched the Jimmy Kimmel Twilight special last night. He was sooo excited. Especially when I kept rewinding parts and squealing, "Oh my god, you have to see this part!" The special was actually pretty decent, but it felt like the Cliffs Notes version of the movie. I'm so glad I saw the movie first. Because I would NEVER read the Cliffs Notes first ... except for those few times in high school. And college.

Of course if I'm being honest, I was so worked up by the time I actually saw Eclipse they could've shown 2 hours worth of Rob stills & I would've still slid out of my seat. I'm a whore. Just not a spoiler whore.

Good times! I tried to get Mr. Snarky to watch some of the pre-Eclipse interviews and cast talk-show appearances but he did everything short of whipping his dick out and waggling it in my face to remind me that he's a heterosexual dude and not interested in squeeee-ing over RPatts with me. Party pooper.

Let me just say now that I am going back and checking out everything I deliberately missed leading up to the release of Eclipse, holy effing shit they gave away a lot!!! Sure, I know it was nothing like the spoilerific free-for-all that went down prior to New Moon (releasing the break-up scene?? REALLY?! WTF were they thinking?! It was like the whole move was out if you knew how to piece it all together...). Back then, it was impossible to avoid some of the images (for me, anyway), and while I still kind of regret not being an active participant in “The SQUEEEE!!! Heard Around the World” when footage of the reunion scene (and shirtless, half-nekkid Robward) being filmed hit the Twidom, I still think it was a little too much. They seem to have learned a bit of a lesson given how they treated Eclipse, but there was still a lot of fodder for all you spoiler whores like Jenny Jerkface and Latchkey Wife (and you can find some of their spoiler-y-iffic posts HERE and HERE).

In case you all missed some of it, here's a smattering of videos - I want to watch these over and over! Hell, I didn't feel like working tomorrow anyway... Even if you can't watch all of these at once, make sure you take a few minutes to come back and scroll through them! I might be glad that I hadn't seen all this pre-Eclipse, but I'm sure happy to have all this now to tide me over until I can get to the theater again!

I think this is from the New Moon video? Er, maybe? anyway, wow am I glad I didn't see this! It's cool to see now but I hate seeing "the making of"-kinda stuff before I have seen the movie!

In case you want a slo-mo of all the stills in this (and I know I did!!) - this is courtesy of Eyes of Amber -

And if you can't get enough of this shit (er, like me...), here's an extended version. Again, I think all of this might be from one of the New Moon DVDs but I loaned my copy with those "extras" to a friend (thanks again, Scummit, for doing all the different versions of the New Moon dvd. You suck).

Here we have a bunch of stills set to a song I am not crazy about... but turn down the volume and have a watch over your coffee... Yum!

I missed most of the trailers...here's a mash-up!

None of that includes "Angry Edward" -- holy crow twitter blew up when this came out!! -

I didn't see this bit with Rosalie - I assumed it would still take place in Edward's bedroom...

...and I didn't see this... (guess I was a pretty good non-spoiler-twi-virgin!) -

...this 30-second clip is AWESOME! aaaaand I'm glad I didn't see it!

And another 30-second spot! How did I manage to avoid all of these?! I guess I have been too busy being a Twitard to watch all that much television lately...

So what do you think? We're going to spend the rest of the week (hell - the rest of the month!) chatting about the movie itself... But did you avoid spoilers? Watch every little scrap of content you could get your slutty little mitts on??? Somewhere in the middle? Do you have any regrets or would you do it all over again either way??? Let us know in the comments!

**Note: Blogger is being a testy bitch and has eaten all the comments (mine and Jenny Jerkface's included!). They are still going to my email as usual and hopefully will show up here sooner or later, so leave one! And yes, I did have a complete meltdown this morning when I logged on and saw one lonely little comment. I was all set to hand in my keys to the castle for being so unworthy!

  1. This time I didn't go HUNTING for spoilers, but if they landed in my lap I didn't ignore them. I was more of a passive aggressive spoiler whore, one would say.
I found the experience much better having seen less of the movie than I saw of New Moon...but I think this movie is sooo much better anyway, so I'm not sure which caused the better experience!
    Im confused now.

  2. Total spoiler whore here. I don't really think it took anything away from the movie for me. Really, if anything, it just fed the addiction a little bit more.

  3. Can someone please explain WHY the Eclipse trailers are no longer airing every 30 seconds on TV now? I DVR everything & have been fast forwarding through commercials with my eyes closed for months now. No lie. DH pretty much reached his patience level with that as I always fast forwarded WAY past the commercial break. Now I can't seem to find a trailer on any channel. I've seen that damned Volvo commercial about 786,468,135 times though. Fuckers.

  6. I was wondering how you faired with being spoiler free. That could not have been easy.

I saw all the clips and trailers but the actually kinda pissed me off and didn't give me much hope for the movie, so I didn't go nuts for them. The movie is definitely better than what all the spoilers make it look like.

  7. I was on serious lock down. I missed all this shit and I can't watch interviews (I have issues, I know.)

Totally worth it - I mean when you know the story you've got to save something for the big screen.

  8. Yay! We did it! I was so glad that I didn't watch anything after the first two trailers were released. I did watch the interviews, though, and didn't see anything new to ruin it for me. The sick feeling I felt after watching the entire New Moon breakup scene online was what did it for me, too, and gave me my resolve. It was worth it. Thanks for all of the video links. I've been four times now to Eclipse (once with Mama Cougar!), and I love it. No Emo Edward or excess footage of the dog. The meadow scenes, the proposal scene *DIED* (and here I thought it would be the leg hitch that did me in!), and the tent scene were perfect. Can't wait to see it again.

  9. I was as extreme as Texas Katherine!... I covered my eyes and ears at the movie theaters when the Eclipse trailer came on, ran out of the room if it played on tv, and covered with my hands all of the little images showing in Fandango when I bought the tickets.
    LOL!
I saw absolutely NOTHING prior to the movie andddd
    I could not be happier!
Getting that first surprise at the movie theater is so much better...

I was a virgin for Twilight, I saw ONE trailer for New Moon and instantly regretted it. I think they give too much away.

Just like STY, I've been going around Googling "Eclipse leg hitch" to see what all you whores were SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEING about a few months ago... and yes, I understand the hype now :P
Oh and youtube is finally safe again lol

So yes, I will definitely hide from everything for BD. In fact...

    TWI-CHASTITY BELT IS BACK ON!!!!

UGHHHHHHHHHH this will be a long ass dry spell.

  10. I was probably one of the most whorey spoiler whores there ever was for Eclipse. I was like Bella trying to rip Edwards shirt off and Summit was like Edward trying to keep that shit on lock down for the wedding night.

I would do it all the same again in a heart beat. I dont have to wait long, I am already being a Breaking Dawn spoiler whore and I'm tentatively planning a trip to Louisiana to go set stalking (I really want to know wtf scenes they are filming in Lousiana).

I'm impressed you didnt give in to all the spoilers. It must have been tough but I'm sure that made your movie experience that much better.

  11. Squee I'm the first... I sucked it all up like the cheep h00r that I am....

  12. I had my shit on lockdown hardcore. It being my favorite book I refused to spoil the movie for myself. I only saw the trailers no tv spots, the posters since I work at Walmart and couldn't avoid them, and I saw the Jimmy Kimmel special but anytime a scene came up I closed my eyes put my fingers in my ears and sang...loudly. And dammit it was worth all the torture to get to see it opening night!!

  13. No regrets...just like Officeward. I wasn't quite as chaste as TK being 'Just a Tipper' and all but I did not whore out like I did for NM. I am glad. I was so excited to see the movie and loved not having seen so much. I didn't re-read the book this time either...I think this made me a tad more forgiving.

I am not sure what I am going to do for BD...I am so freaking worried as to how they are going to pull that one off. I don't know if my Twymen will be motivated to regenerate for that one. We shall see.

Thanks for all the vids STY....I haven't seen one of these yet. I plan on watching them tonight. Mwah!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm Hella-good with spoilers. I've read the book... I know the ship will sink in the end. Anyone have BD clips yet???

    ReplyDelete
  15. I did read/watch/drool over the spoilers. I have no self control. None. I'd like to know where Jasper found his between New Moon and Eclipse though. Suddenly he was all I'ma-Major-and-totes-in-charge laid back as opposed to being thirsty as all get out for that bloody nectar oozing out of Bella's finger.

If I had to do it over, would I still watch? Of course. Do I regret it afterward? Of course. Such is my addiction. A vicious cycle which has no cure.

  18. I was a skanky, smelly spoiler whore through and through & don't regret one single second of it.

I give huge fat kuddos to you and especially TK for being all virgin-like. I could never do it. NEVA!!!!

  19. Have to say I was a bit in the middle. Didn't see all of those vids (and will have to wait until tonite to watch as I'm now at work ..... f&ck work!!!). But having seen the movie now (and I so had to hold it together 'cos I had Mr. Cougar sat right next to me!!!!) I just wanna go back and see it again, and again, and again and more and more and more and ......Ungh!!!! RPattz is just so damn FUCKHAWT!!!!!

Right, deep breaths. Must calm down and remember where I am. Mustn't lick screen in office......

    :-D

  20. I am SO sorry I watched everything I could get my hands on before the movie. As much as I fucking LOVED it, I know I would have had an even more orgasmic experience if I'd gone into it virginal. Annnnnnd, as I contemplate whether I'll have the nads to go without the spoilers for BD, I am totally depressed that it won't be an issue for 18 fucking months. Fuckers. But yeah - wish I'd skipped the spoilers, a lot.

PMSL@ "I tried to get Mr. Snarky to watch some of the pre-Eclipse interviews and cast talk-show appearances but he did everything short of whipping his dick out and waggling it in my face to remind me that he's a heterosexual dude and not interested in squeeee-ing over RPatts with me." OMFG you crack me up!!!

Mine is also not at all interested and sent me a text that said something about me "going to watch 2 gay dudes bitch slap each other over a talentless dy**"

I commend you on your spoiler virginity. I couldn't do it. Well, that's because I didn't want to. I say: Bring on the spoilers- it's not like I don't know how it's going to turn out. And now that I've seen it 3x (#4 tonight), I have to say, the trailers and stills did not do Eclipse any justice - it was THAT good!!!

  22. Gutted :-/ My comment from earlier this morning has disappeared :-/ Did I say something unusually offensive???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lets see, I at first I was a dirty pirate h00r and eating up all the spoilers I could get my smutty lil hands on. But then I remembered how disappointed I was when I went to New Moon and felt like I had already seen all the important parts thanks to being a dirty girl. That's when the iron panties went back on. Granted it may have been too little too late. But, all in all, I'm at peace with my decision as Eclipse still managed to rock my socks (and squirrel covers) off.

  24. Um, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO ALL OUR COMMENTS?!

Apparently blogger is having a fail, guys. We're so sorry!! Working to fix it right now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. FUCK YOUUUUU BLOGGER for eating all my comments!! Aside from Linx's, that is... (and I did hear from people here and there that they wish they had not watched all the footage beforehand. although some people would slut themselves out all over again... i'm lookin' at you LKW!).

JJ assured me after my epic meltdown this morning that there was indeed more than one comment at some point and that Blogger sent them all into some black hole. {{{sigh}}} This week is going to suuuuck. Al least it's a short one!

  26. Awesome, thanks! I saw all the trailers (tho I don't watch all that much TV and saw them all online) but the mash up of stills from His Golden Eyes was terrific! Thanks for including that. I can't wait to see it again -- so far I've only managed once. I'm so behind! RL kicking my ass these days

  27. Sorry Blogger is being such a bitch, it probably really needs to get laid! Don't despair Sty, you know we lurrrrvve you, baby!

  28. Being a complete whore did not ruin it for me one bit. I saw it for the third time yesterday. Angry Edward still gets me hot and bothered. David Slade for President.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was spoiler free this time too! New Moon was almost ruined for me because of all the leaked set pics and whatnot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I watched none of it until they started showing it on TV commercial spots (wait, I did catch the RPatts on Leno, and while I had the JK special on, I was doing something on the computer at the time and didn't catch anything but that the audience across the street got to see the movie early ... bitches!)

and I'm SO glad you put this list of stuff to watch together, I missed all of these (with exception to TV spots, and the bit they had on the NM DVD extras)

I've only seen it once so far and LOVED THE SHIT OUT OF IT! I'm going again on the 8th, and am so on the bandwagon of finding ways to 'thank' David Slade ...

  33. I don't regret watching every litte tidbit I could get my hands on. This came about because I:

    1. Hate surprises.
    2. Admit that I have an obsession with Twilight (haven't decided if it's unhealthy yet, hubby kinda keeps me in check).
    3. Truly needed some anxiety meds to make it to 6/30, but didn't have any. I believe the clips and stills took some of the edge off.
    4. Hate people who talk during movies! So seeing some of the clips beforehand I already knew what was said so I didn't have to worry about missing anything when that part would play out on screen.

Being a spoiler-whore just works for me.

And now I know I'll probably have to visit a doctor before both BDs for some meds.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i'll put it this way...i checked twicrack addict, twilight lexicon, and twitarded almost every fucking day and i watched EVERYTHING.
i guess since i'm not a whore in real life, i feel the need to make up for it in other twilight-y ways.

also, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS. it's fucking HILARIOUS. you won't regret it. yes, that means YOU:

I am also jonesing HARD to see Eclipse again. Mr. Junkie, however, is NOT amused.

  36. Watched and read every spoiler. Made Mr Minti read Eclipse so he could join in with the screaming at the movie! We are gonna watch it again at the weekend. As for BD - I will do it all over again - what else is my laptop for?

  37. I was a total spoiler whore and have no regrets. Saw Eclipse (and did not go to the Century City theater that Rob & Kristen showed up at!!) yesterday and LOVED it!! All the stuff I had seen in advance did not ruin a single moment for me....and I was glad I was prepared for the cheesy parts (meadows, fake snow, bad hair) so they did not take anything away from the movie for me. Loved, loved, loved how they opened the movie (kudos to Slade he slammed it home for the most part) and had chills most of the way through. Ten minutes into the movie and I was ready to see it again....and I have to....I hardly knew what to focus on (Robward is soooo distracting) most of the time.

  38. I watched everything, clicked open every video, still, interview, all of it. I'm with Mandy. I HATE surprises. As a child I unwrapped presents and re-wrapped them before Christmas morning so I didn't have to fake excitement. Sorry but I can't handle the suspense and all those pics were screaming for me, the voices were so loud I had to look at them. Had to.

I've seen Eclipse 3 times now and have at least 2 more planned viewings this week. I can't get enough. My husband has even offered to go with me this weekend. He even texted something like "insert girly squeals here".
I would totally go again right now if I thought my kids could either handle the movie or not burn down the house, they are 5 and 7. Oh and they do not fit in drawers or dryers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm some where in the middle. I'll watch interviews and the official trailers, but that's about it.

Regardless, it didn't ruin my premiere or experience. I love trailers! And to continue my Twilight experience, I'm just now reading the Bree book (um, I have a Riley crush) and I went to support Jasperpants by seeing Last Airbender (Which by the way was fucking good. Do not let bad reviews stop you.)

I kinda feel everybody is different and how they chose to experience it, is their own. Kudos to all the gals that were able to stay spoiler free. :)

Now, I can't wait for all of you to start talking about what you thought of the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have to admit that I feel like looking at all the stuff kinda ruined the excitement for me when it came time to actually see the entire movie. I found myself thinking, "oh, I've already seen this scene a gazillion times."

But Eclipse still rocked my socks off, regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have no regrets regarding my whore status. I'd do it again (and again and again and again).... But I guess that's what a whore does, right? And I don't think it really ruined anything for me...

I agree with JJ - Eclipse rocked my socks (and my pants) off too!!

  42. I have absolutely NO will power when it comes to Twilight spoilers, and I mean zilch, NADA! So as soon as something comes out, I'm clicking the link within .2 seconds of seeing it posted. yeah, I'm that bad. But I don't think they gave away any of the important scenes in Eclipse.

New Moon on the other hand was a bit of an overload. I think the break-up was not meant to be released. Was I guilty of watching it before the movie came out? *guiltily raises hand*

So I went and saw Eclipse for the 3rd time today...obsessed much? Damn right! These two middle-aged women were sitting behind me. One of which seemed to love to have her own commentary for the movie. And she was obviously Team Jacob because everytime he came on screen, she sounded like she had an orgasm. yeah, gag!

During the garage scene, she said "Idiot" during a Bella moment...bout turned around and slapped the shit out of her.

But the movie was amazing again! I cannot even fathom waiting 17 months for Breaking Dawn.......it's depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I kept away from most of the trailers 'cause I really felt New Moon was a bit disappointing after having seen 95% of it before hand. Avoided the behind-the-scenes stuff as well. I think of it as acting slutty without being a total hoor. :)
Discovering my inner craving for FF helped keep me entertained.
