A Very Twilighty Christmas

I know not everyone celebrates Christmas and those of you who do not are probably like "enough already!" but what can I say? It's a big part of what's going in in my neck of the woods these days, so please continue to humor us and know that we'll move on sooner or later... Or send us photos of your Twilight-themed Hanukkah bush...or your sparkly Robert Pattinson Festivus pole... [Note from JJ: OMG, I would LOVE to see that.]

As it does in almost everything, Twilight continued to sneak its way into my life this Christmas. And it was a welcomed presence. I might not have set up a Twilight-themed Christmas tree in my Twitarded lair (I actually don't have a lair, and we didn't do a tree this year at all because we didn't get around to it and I don't have a huge apartment), but it made its presence known nonetheless. My in-laws are not privy to this blog; I would love to out myself but I can't palate the thought of them reading about some of the things I write here (as it is, I have scarred Sister Snarky for life with some of my over-sharing).

Nevertheless, the subject of Twilight inevitably comes up at family gatherings. They may not know I write a blog about it, but it's no secret that I am a fan. Somehow, my mother-in-law (who is awesome and doing her part to dispel evil mother-in-law stereotypes) even managed to get me some Twilighty merch that I didn't even know existed - score!

LOVE!
Also, physical evidence that I am the worst Twi-blogger evah.
They come in a mini-lunchbox! How could I have not known this was out there?!

Also, my eleven-year-old niece is definitely Team Jacob. Which I am totally down with because it reduces the potential creep-factor of having a mutual Twilighty crush with my eleven-year-old niece by about a gazillion. Because, really? Who wants to share a crush with your niece? If she was Team Edward, shit might have been weird.

Blurry evidence of Team Jake.
Sorry, but I was fleeing the scene of the photo-taking crime as I snapped this.

So did you get anything Twilighty for Christmas? Or otherwise have anything awesome happen? I have to admit that while the mints made me smile for the last day or so, I am also thrilled that I got tickets to go see "Wicked" on a Saturday night in a few weeks. I have somehow - inexplicably - managed to remain a Broadway virgin in my life thus far, and Sister Snarky and I have orchestra seats. Plus I am reasonably sure that this is the theater equivalent of having your "first time" be with RPatts. Or Edward. Or something like that... Anyway...

So how did you spend the holidays? Highlights? Lowlights? Just glad it's almost over? I'm semi-thankful for the "JMFHF it's a Nor'easter!!!" thing going on in the northeast right now - it's a very handy excuse to hole up and watch a good movie... Or a bad one that you love.

  1. Well, since I'm shameless and totally "out" to my entire fam, I had a very Twilighty Christmas!

Papa bought be New Moon FSE AND a full set of hardbound collectors edition Twilight books.

Lil_Cougar got me THE MOST FUCKING AWESOME GIFT EVER. Baby girl went on Snapfish.com and made a picture book for me, loaded with RobPorn and called it "Mama Cougar's Little Black Book." It's so beautiful, it brought me to tears.

I hope all who inhabit Twitardia had a fabulous Christmas and enjoy a very Twilighty New Year!

  2. I got one Twilighty gift -a cute tin of Eclipse band-aids with EC's face all over the tin. Never mind the band-aids, I'll be finding plenty of other uses for the tin for quite some time to come. Thanks SpaklyJul! On another note, I was given a San Francisco travel guide too. That's kinda twi-lated, given it's nearly trip planning time!

  3. Mine was full of lowlights since my SO's parents stayed with us for the holidays. But I got a partial confirmation that I could have my vacay in April during our office Xmas party. Hopefully they wont change the WFE release date so I can attend the premier and maybe get close enough to Rob to touch his hair or anything I can get hands on.

  4. A work buddy gave me an RPatz calendar and a mini [pocket size] RPatz book.

I also got a New Moon fleece throw from my SIL. She [obviously] doesn't understand the extent of my obsession because she gave me the blanket with Edward AND Bella on it!! [WTF??? I told her I might have to cut out Bella's face!] But it is soft & snuggly!

Fortunately my son [who understands me] gave me the Edward face NM fleece last year for x-mas!

  5. First of all, I'M SO DAMN JEALZ YOU'RE GOING TO SEE WICKED ON BROADWAY!! Bitch.

I got a couple of Jumping Rob Christmas cards this year. Those made me super happy. No Twi merch this year (though I am totally hoseying those Sweethearts). Last year I got the Bella bracelet. Mr TK, who knows his parents are always fail at gifts for me, bought it, wrapped it & put my MIL's name on the tag. He's a keeper.

  6. I am a little frightened my JJ's Edward-face fleece! And I need a new RPatts calendar to hide in my closet - lol! I have to get to eBay stat!

@Mama Cougar - i LOVE the book idea - hope to see pics soon! hand-made gifts like that are tops.

I have a whole slew of stuff I need to thank everyone for sending me this year and this Christmas!

I couldn't go there tonight but I am so thankful to my Twitarded peeps for so many smiles and great memories this year! But more on that soon...

Mr. Snarky just willingly agreed to watch Eclipse with me on this snowy night so I am in heaven!

  7. I had a very merry Robmas... Mom got me the 2011 Rob calendar I had been lusting over from Barnes and Noble and a new copy of Twilight on dvd ( I know she wants to watch it, she's totes about to finish the book muuhaahaaa). Other than that for me...this was an all time low x mas as it's only been a month since my soon to be wasband left me n the kidjits. but it can only get better from here right, and soon, I'll totally be free to marry Rob :)

  8. I can't complain. I got Team Edward earrings, Team Edward keychain, and both Twilight in Forks docs on DVD. And that all was just from my dad. GO daddy!
My little boy gave me the Alice barbie doll which I've been wanting too!
The only thing I didn't get is the Edward blanket....oh well, my birthday is in about a month!
Hope everyone else had a great Christmas!
I won't lie. Besides that stuff, the rest of mine sucked big balls.

  9. I went to a 100 monkeys concert tonight and met Jackson (Jasper)and got his autograph. Best twilight moment ever!

  10. I got the same tin of candy from my parents best friends...woo hoooo! I had no idea it came in the mini lunch box either. I also had no idea they knew that I loved Twilight so much but they are friends w/ me on facebook so I'm guessing they knew from there.

I also got another thing but I'm not able to say it on here because my mom got it for me and she got @amandakmelby the exact same thing..and she hasn't opened it yet. I also got her some other awesome twilight stuff that i'll have to share with you as soon as we exchange gifts this week. But the thing my mom got us was so freaking awesome and something I've never seen.. it would definitely be sweet for FORKS...

Speaking of Forks...wasn't it about this time last year that you guys started talkin about the FORKS trip? Just wonderin.... my birthday is in Feb and hearing about a future trip really would make my year. :)

  12. I got the Edward fleece blanket and the Eclipse calendar. But the best present I got was a new smartphone so now I can read this blog whenever I'm in need of a Rob fix!!!

  13. Everyone in my family bought me Twilight and Rob related gifts. I got two Edward hoodie sweatshirts that I love!

    Enjoy Wicked! It's fantastic!

I love your theory of why it is acceptable for your niece to be Team Jacob. That works really well for me too! ;)

  14. Unfortunately we don't have that much cool Twilight merch in Sweden - you'd have to get it online and my family probably didn't think of that...

I did get Eclipse movie and soundtrack from my MIL, and a Rob Calendar from a RL twilight friend. My sister got me Remember Me and The Runaways, and I guess that counts as well, right?

I still have one chance - my birthday is on Friday (New Year's Eve!) so maybe I'll get some more... But the one thing I want the most is more reviews for my fic. And the family can't very well be reading that, now, can they? Because that would be weird... LOL

  15. Broadway virgin *gasps*! Enjoy Wicked, I thought it was a pretty good book translation.

No Twilightly merch this year (or last year or the year before)... Hell, I've learned the family just isn't that hip. (Although on mybday my 6yr old did get me an Edward skin for my HP mini)

  16. My employee got me the Twilight card game - I actually didn't have it yet. My sister got me a New Moon Fandango gift card and I am hoping my niece got me some Twilight stuff I asked for - we shall see when I get back home on Thursday. I am glad you had such a good holiday.

  17. My hubs who constantly makes fun of my obsession and rolls his eyes whenever he sees me reading Twitarded, watching the movies, etc. got me "Love at First Bite the unofficial Twilight Cook Book." It was a complete surprise! The cook book has some interesting recipes.. Harry's Famous Fish Fry, Mushroom Ravioli (of course), Lion and Lamb Stew, just to name a few. I also got the WFE book. Looking forward to reading that before seeing the movie!

  18. This Christmas has been shit. I'm not saying 'the shit', but actual shit. My marriage is circling the drain. The only thing keeping me sane is a continuous Twilight saga movie marathon. Can't wait for the next one... :)

  19. I didn't get anything Twilighty yet. I'm counting on my bff's to give it up, though. I've been getting hints.

I reeeeally hope it's RPattz' dick in a box. Like THIS

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hehe, dick in a box! I did get a 2011 Robert Pattinson calendar and New Moon FSE from my bff. The Twilight Board Game from my momma, and the special edition Eclipse DVD from my husband. (Oh, and Santa put an Edward bookmark in my stocking too) I was twilight blessed this Christmas.

    Merry Christmas Twitarded Chica's!

  21. Ladies, at my age I am not supposed to laugh my a** off reading your blog (especially the Christmas Humor Twitarded Style) !! But I literally had tears running down my face. You absolutely made my day...thanks, and Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I got a NM umbrella, and a set of I <3 Edward notepads. I also received an RPattz calendar and pocket size book, both of which I already have *blushes*

But best of all for me was Mr. NotSmitten addressed a gift under the tree to: Smitten from British Pretty Boy. Also, we watched all three Twilight movies this week!! I still can't believe that.

  23. I got nuthin Twilighty for Christmas this year. So sad... My last hope is my mom - we haven't done our present exchange yet. I asked for the Edward/Bella ornament. *sigh*

  24. My 19 year old son knows how much I like my coffee. He got me Twilight blend coffee. It has a very strong, rich flavor like possibly an Italian blend.

I shared Twitarded's Christmas humor with Mr TM. He enjoyed all the pictures until the last one which was Rob. Gross (his word)

I try to downplay at home any attraction I have to men half of his age/weight. It still amazes me that Mr TM knows I'm obsessed & have a blog but has no idea that I am Robsessed. Ignorace is bliss.

  25. I didn't get anything Twi-related. HUH! But that's ok, cause now I can get what I want since the holiday is over. I have seen some Twi-stuff at Borders on clearance that I might get.

  26. That's awesome that you're going to see Wicked, STY. Enjoy!

I got the E&B Hallmark ornament from kiTT at Tongue Twied awhile ago and almost forgot to put it on my tree. I'm old. She's good at helping me remember stuff ;)

I got a UK Robert Pattinson 2011 calendar from BeckyBrit. It's gorgeous and it's big. (She said that.)

But the one that surprised me the most was the Garmin GPS I got from my husband because when I opened it, he said, "I know you have trouble with directions. I thought this would help you while you're traveling." Well, the only traveling I do is to meet/spend time with bloggy besties. So basically he was giving me his blessing to keep traveling. Woot woot! That totally makes it a Twi-related gift, right?

@Mama Cougar - Pretty sure I know the way to your house by heart, but your home address is the first one I plugged into my GPS :) Lil Cougar was so excited about her gift idea for you. That rocks! I can't wait to see it up close and personal. Now you know why I had to come up with a reason for you to send me your favorite robp0rn :) Love ya soul sistah!

@PC - I'm so sorry to hear that. I didn't know. Hang in there.

  27. My 14 y/o son gives me and my husband lots of grief for our mutual interest in Twilight. A couple of nights a week, he'll find us sitting on our bed catching a few minutes of a Twilight movie before we go to sleep. This Christmas, I found a small box under the tree. The tag read: To Kate. From Edward Cullen. He had found a very bad replica of the ring Edward gave Bella and bought it for moi! What a hoot! It's gaudy and silly but I'm still wearing it. Easily my favorite gift this year!

  28. Wicked is a GREAT choice for Broadway devirginizing... you'll love it! I spent my holidays enjoying a hearty serving of Christmas fun sprinkled with a generous amount of Rob joy... I went to see The Nutcracker Ballet at Lincoln Center- MAGICAL, I finished reading The Plan- Freaking FANTASTIC, and I too received my very own box of Edward Sweethearts which I proudly put on display alongside the staple Christmas desserts. It was the perfect pretty to all my sweets. But there was no tasting of the icy heart mints. I will not open the box you see cause thats Rob's job ;)

  29. @Mama Cougar, what a sweet gift! I need to think of a little black book for myself...

@STY, OMG, enjoy Wicked!!! GOING TO BE SO FABULOUS.

@Anniurka - so jealous about the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center! I saw it at by the Washington Ballet here in DC and was totally enthralled - it was my first time since I was like, seven!

I do not actually have a Hanukkah bush, but I got some LOVELY cards from my darling Toefunny, Derrydown Green (neverthink) and Billi Cullen. Putting a little twilighty awesome into my holidays!

...working on my sparkly Festivus pole for next year...

  30. Ok...so I got 2 copies of Eclipse, the single disc edition from hubs and the special 2 disc from my mom (thx mom!). So I gave the one from hub to my twitard in training, I mean niece, cuz she's awesome & didn't get it. :) But the absolute best thing I got was $ from my parents to "take a vacation"! So when are we all meeting in Forks?

  31. Dear hubby got me the Edward & Bella ornament. Total surprise. Also my bday was two weeks ago. I told DH I wanted Eclipse on DVD and a Taylor Swift CD, and he asked "Are you turning 41, or 14?" But, I got them! My SIL got me the Robert Pattinson calendar for my bday. I think it was a joke, but I luuurv it! Just have no idea where to put it. Can't take it to work, can't put it in the kitchen, DH probably wouldn't appreciate it in the bedroom. Argh.

  32. So jealous that you get to see Wicked! My sisters both got me some Twilighty gifts, lip balm, Twilight venom and a mug from FOOOORKKKSSSS! (my sister lives in Seattle) Also they got me a bar of glow in the dark soap with Frank n Furter from Rocky Horror on it and a tshirt that says "Harry is my homeboy" but they are my other geeky loves

  33. My children got me a pack of Eclipse gum with a picture of the cast on it. It was really cute and sweet considering they didn't have much money.

  34. I am rather late to the party but I got the Eclipse special edition blueray from the hubs, Halmark ornament from myself, 2011 Rob calendar from my mom and as a total shocker mom also got me the NM Cardboard standing Edward! He's in the dining room naturally.

100 Monkeys played in Birmingham on Monday and as that was also my anniversary, the hubs was going to take me but I decided it was too cold. I know, I know, I'm a bad fan. But it was cold as Aro's balls and I didn't want to get out in it! I'll catch Jackson on the next one.
