Twitarded Fans Have the Biggest Hearts In the Twidom.

As everyone has no doubt surmised by now, we never, ever, EVER do anything in a timely fashion in these parts. Latchkey Wife and others have tried and failed to rally JJ and I into some semblance of on-time-ed-ness and thus far have failed. Not for lack of effort. We have problems...

We also have the bestest readers in the Twidom, bar none. Over the past six months, I've relied extra-super-heavily on you all for advice, moral support, and the occasional shoulder (or bewb shelf) to cry on. Then back in January, My After Car Is An XKR and Dangrdafne asked me how I would feel about their setting up a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association as a tribute to my mother, who passed away suddenly of a heart attack in September. Twihearted was born.

An initial (and somewhat random, ambitious, but hopefully attainable!) goal of $2000 was set for the fundraiser, but not surprisingly, you all came through above and beyond to help raise a grand total of $2560.

There are a gazillion good causes out there - all of them worthy - so I want to thank each and every one of you who contributed to this one. I means the world to me, my family, and I know that so many of you have also had your lives directly impacted by heart disease. Thank you for all of the comments you left on the Twihearted page (and I am so sorry for those of you who have lost someone to this disease - Sue, my heart goes out to you). I'm never really sure what it is, exactly, that we have created over here - collectively, all of us - in this corner of the interwebs. But I know I love it and it sustains me.

I had a dream about my mom last night; in it I chided her for the fact that she had been out of touch recently. She told me that she was happy now, and I was happy for her, but I knew that I wouldn't be seeing her again soon... My sister and I have both found ourselves looking for little "signs" from our mom. A few weeks ago, Sister Snarky woke to find an email from my mom. It had somehow resent itself to her Blackberry. We find solace in what we can where we can, and every bright ray of sunshine streaming down from the sky is suddenly loaded with meaning - maybe a little too much, maybe not... But I'll take this as a sign. We done good.

I'd like to wrap this up with a few words from My After Car Is An XKR, without whom none of this would have happened...
MyAfterCar here. Huge thanks, lung-crushing hugs, and piles and piles of Robporn to SnarkierThanYou and Dangrdafne, without whom Twihearted would not exist. We started this project and then I was under the weather and fell off the face of the earth for a few weeks, and these two totally took the reins and did the lion's share of the work. They emailed, they wrote, they designed, they promoted, they did everything that needed to be done to get Twihearted up and running. STY and DD, you rock my face off. Thank you for your kindness and compassion, and for making this fundraiser a reality!

  1. I am sure those things are signs, STY, though I suppose I couldn't say what they are signs of. The interconnectedness of all things in the universe, our collective unconscious reminding us that there's something beyond what we see, hear, feel in the present. I really don't fucking know, but I don't care. I believe in something, you know? Because it's less terrifying to me than believing in nothing. But that's just me. In any case, I believe in YOU and I believe in this crazy, compassionate, brilliant group of women who come here every day for love and laughter. You are hope for us all, Twitards.

    xoxoxoxoxo times a gabillion.

  3. I am continually amazed at the good shit that get's done by this bunch of crazy h00rs who spend waaaay too much time talkin' trash and obsessing over a beautiful boy who is too young for most of us! God works in mysterious ways.

  5. STY, you know how I love you. Maybe you do. If you don't, I do. You ladies have been a ray of awesome for me and you have been over the past 2 years. (HOLY SHIT! 2 YEARS?!)

I thrive on the fact that, despite the naysayers and herpes eaters, we are really truly friends over here. We aren't afraid to voice our opinions, talk about poop and porn, and even hop on in/on planes trains or automobiles to The Promised Land for 4 days of Twi-themed luvin.

But honestly, we are amazing, and how we help hold each other up (after long nights of drinking, or when life lays a pile on our coats) is inspiring to anyone. Snarky, I am so happy that you have such a great support system. Even if it wasn't us, I just want to know that your heart is in good hands.

Um...ps, totes thought you said "You will be very happy when you find this in your box." All I could think is "Hell yes, Sailorward in my box!" :) Cuz that's how we roll. <3 you, Myg for being so, so good to us!

  9. I think it's so terrific that with all that goes on in this big ol' mean world and the fact that we are spread out all over the globe, in our little corner of this craziness we are always there for each other, in big ways and in small, with words and hugs and laughter and tears....I love the this place!!

STY - I believe those are signs and I'm glad you and your sister do too. Your mom wants you to know she is thinking of you guys just as much as you think of her....*hugs*

  18. Well this is what I get for being so far behind on blogging. I missed out on thanking My After Car, STY and all of the amazing people involved in Twihearted through Twitarded. This was an amazing fundraiser to be a part of because it was just some people who wanted to make a difference asking some readers to help out and help out they did. As of today 3-28-11 the amount raised is $2590 from 84 people. Thank you Thank you Thank you

I fully believe in signs and Snarky you have had them. Your Mom will always be there for you.

I love you all and thank you.
