Things I Learned at the Water For Elephants Premiere

So this is the post before the first "real" post about Water for Elephants, because Latchkey Wife will have THE muther humpin' WFE post to end all WFE posts later this week because she was RIGHT on the front lines and practically got to sit in Rob's lap in his limo. Actually she got to sit on Kristen's lap, too. It was totally NUTS! She's too famous after being on the live feeds to stay amongst the likes of us much longer, but I have it on good authority that she will regale us with stories before she kicks us to the D-List Twilight-y curb and moves on...

Before we jump in with the juicy "I touched Robert Pattinson!" stuff, let's talk about what can be learned... As with most bloggy-related activities, this weekend pushed me out of my comfort zone; I had some very patient minders but Jenny Jerkface was missed...

Things I learned this weekend:

  • I don't like lines. Or rain. The combination? Very bad.

The line. You can't see it, but it was POURING.
I stuck it out for three hours.
Which is about 11 hours less than the people who stuck it out
and got wristbands for the red carpet the next morning.

  • Jenny Jerkface is not a whiny, lying sack of shit when she says it's always colder and windier in New York City. It totally is, no b.s.
  • I wouldn't wait out in the cold and rain all night even if I thought Robert Pattinson was going to come loping up like a big shaggy, doofy St. Bernard to revive me with spirit-filled hot beverages (ok this might be a lie, but I would have to be SURE).

We waited - really!
Double Dippin, Laxplays, STY & LKW put on our rainy-day game faces!

  • We don't know how to do anything, blog-wise. Half the people at this gig looked sympathetically at the people lined up in the rain and said "Nope - I don't have to wait. I have a press pass." PRESS. PASSES. For bloggers. Like us. I almost imploded that we hadn't thought of it and nobody had mentioned it to us. OK, the chances of anyone giving "Twitarded" press-pass access to this event seem slim imho, but SHIT - I would have tried!
  • I need Jenny Jerkface to boss me around. NEED. Or nothing gets done.
  • Also, JJ is my social buffer/handler, and I am not meant to be out in public without her. I am the socially-awkward yin to her gregarious, loud yang. This works for us.
  • I am the worst Twi-blogger ever. Said it before, imagine I will have cause to say it again, mean it sincerely every time.

I'm exhausted and have a lot more to write about this weekend (or at least Latchkey Wife and our upcoming guest-bloggers will!), but I'm toast tonight. Plus I need to go catch up on Twitter.

I know that everyone is going bonkers catching up on WFE coverage anyway, but stick around this week - we'll have more stories and pics all week! Stay tuned...

  1. I would have never stood in the rain, cold, or wind, either, even if Jackson himself were to sing me a lullabye.

I would face the fires of Hell to meet you all, tho. Sorry I missed the "fun".

    xx

  2. STY-

I don't blame you. I don't think I would have made it in that rain and cold!

I cannot wait to read LKW's posts...so excited for all the girls that got to see HIM.

    Love you girls!

Can't wait to see you in SD STY!

  3. OMFG!!! How did I let myself miss all that?!? LKW actually touched the precious?!? How many members of his security did it take to pry her off his leg? I can't wait to read all about it!

  4. I am the least outdoorsy person on the planet. My bubble suit is on backorder. I have, however, stayed in the rain, a hail storm, snow & a tornado warning to watch college football. I think I could have toughed this one out. Yes, I would have likely melted in the rain like the pure sugar that pumps through my veins, but I would have tried, dammit!

So glad all you hookers had fun!

  6. I can't believe the shit fuckery that went down...Much love to the ladies who stuck it out for the wristbands, and I cannot thank you all enough for letting me live vicariously through you this weekend. Jesus fuck sticks.

This may be the best weekend I did not get to participate in of my life.

  8. Massive cudos to those bitches who were brave - or just batshit crazy - enough to stand out in that asshole weather for a smell of the Pretty ;)

I am a big fat pussy and would've wimped out after a few too. Mostly because if I were going to meet me some Pretty I would worry after standing out there so long I would look like such a freakin' mess he would run screaming from me.

    I'm a shallow shallow person.

Looking forward to reading about the fuckery - bring it twatwaffles!!

The Aussie chicks get our chance in a few weeks - muahahaha

  15. Yes, LKW, please, please get stuff posted soon....need to live vicariously through all y'all....NYC is far, far away from where I live! Can't wait to get the stories, see pics, etc. It's quite a WFE/Pattz-palooza this week. Helps sate the drought from a few months ago....will it hold us 'til November? Doubtful!

  16. I stayed too. I was number 66. Was totally unprepared to line up at 6:30pm but made the best of it. Not everyone can say that Rob bought them dinner and breakfast. Oh did I forget to mention it was from Sara and Reese too?? My bad. Sara was lovely coming out and taking pics and signing autographs in the rain. I had a great time even if I still can't feel my toes.

  17. I love the picture of you guys and I'm sorry I wasn't there!! And I TOLD you the weather is always shittier in NYC!!

I have been following all the shenanigans on Twitter and it sounds like it was an amazing time, despite the weather.

To all you ladies who stood in the pouring rain for over ten hours - you're nuts. And I love you.

  18. Sorry for the rain! Maybe next NYC in the summer. Need another premier.

  19. I would have been the same way. I'm such a pussy when it comes to rain, lines, cold, and anything else for that matter.

Yes, I agree you DO need to figure out how to get press passes. You have like 2000 followers or something, it's not like you have a teeny tiny blog. :)
