The Hunger Games... A Teaser

As if it's not bad enough that I have to wait nineteen years for Breaking Dawn: Before the Spawn to come out, I now have another movie I'm impatiently jedi-minding to come to the silver screen right the fuck now.

As I've mentioned once or twice here on Twitarded, I have a girl-boner for the Hunger Games trilogy and the first movie comes out March 23, 2012.

You rock on with your bad self, Katniss Everdeen.

And I'm sofa king excited.

They apparently aired a little teaser of The Hunger Games during the MTV Music Awards (MTV still plays music? I had no idea) but I was either still bailing out my basement from hurricane Irene or drunk. Or both.

I have to admit, this doesn't exactly make me super excited. This was a little more like "premature ejaculation" than "just the tip" but I'm going to have faith that this movie will not suck. After all, they can't give away too much, right? I mean it would probably ruin everything if they did a teaser that was all, "OMFG Katniss just had pink elephants fly out of her asshole and they destroyed the Capitol" then people would be upset. (Spoiler Alert - that wasn't one)

And Summit isn't making this film, so the hair/costumes/makeup have a fighting chance.

At this point, all I can do is keep my fingers crossed and hope the odds may ever be in my favor... that this will be a fucking awesome movie.

  2. Love. Love. Love. this book. When I saw the trailer, I was like....Really?? That's it??? I will be making the midnight pilgrimage

  3. The only redeeming quality in that long wait is that it happens to come out on my birthday. Am I the only one that thinks they planned this just for me? I hope it doesn't suck truck nuts.

  4. Nifer- it's my birthday too! I guess it was made for us!! Best part it's my bday so hubs can't say anything about me going to a YA screen adaptation at midnight with a bunch of kids 20 Ish years younger than me!

  5. WHERE THE HELL WAS THE BOY WITH THE BREAD?!?!??! And every time I hear the Rue whistle, I think X-Files.

  6. Nope. Still got my head up my ass. I don't need another obsession. I see what the Hunger Games has done to you.

Last time I read a series of YA books it changed my life. I'm not altogether unhappy with those changes, but I'm good. I'll stay. No hit for me thank-you.

  7. Love HG! Almost as much as TW. The trailer was actually done even before they started filming. I believe it was part of the promo stuff, so that's why it's fail.

  8. I'm with TheRugbymom. Maybe I'll watch the DVD when it comes out.

  9. I'm right on board with you, JJ! I can't wait either!

BTW, I call a "girl boner" a "clitoner" bwahahah!

SO FUCKING EXCITED TO SEE YOU!

  10. Haha maybe Lionsgate will borrow Jasper's wig and dye it pink for Effie Trinket!

Agreed - this preview is just no good. I need a promo that is super intriguing so my husband will want to see it, instead of whining about me forcing him to see "teeny-bopper blah blah blah". I hope the movie is better than it looks so far, cause hubby just doesn't trust my judgement since my twi-fetish.

No Gale, Peeta, or Prim for a hint of a storyline? Booooo. There better be more meaty trailers to follow...

Of course, I will be there opening night regardless for my birthday too!

  11. I can't wait for this film! Honestly, even my husband has read the books. This family is Team Peeta all the way! I also can't wait for the American version of Girl With A Dragon Tattoo!

  12. TEAM GALE FTMFW..........

    Bring. It. On.

  13. Has nobody noticed how this promo resembles the opening sequence of Twilight? (Only she's kind of the deer?) Even the music could come from one of the Twi movies.

  14. This movie better kick ass, or I'll be kicking someone's. So excited.

  15. I've been meaning to read these books for the last year. Now I know at least when the movie comes out so I can set a "must be finished reading 'The Hunger Games' by this date. lol. I am excited to see this movie though just from reading about it & seeing all the photos out.

  16. I just finished Book One and really liked it.

I didn't expect much from the TEASER because that is what it was. It wasn't supposed to be a trailer or even a sneak peek, it was a teaser and I would certainly say it was that. I had no idea about the whistle because I hadn't gotten there yet in the book. So I will need to watch the teaser again to see and hear all that I probably missed the first time.

I think it will be a good movie, they have lots to work with and it should convert well to the movie screen. We shall see soon enough.

  17. "Okay now, run through the forest. Good, good. Run through the forest again. Excellent work. Look somber, focused. Great, great. Now run back. Annnnnd cut!"

See, I could have directed that shit myself.

But I'm excited for the movie anyway.

  18. I recently read these books because one of my favorite FF authors (BellaDonnaCullen) wrote an outtake. I'm really glad I did. The trilogy was awesome!

I really hope the movie is good, but I think it has a better chance at it because it's a movie made for the big screen. Twilight (at least the first couple of books) is so much in the character's head it's hard to make a movie from.

@Rikki_DD man when I hear it I think Close Encounters.

I can't wait for this either. I'm really hoping its good. I thought the trailer sucked ass but I think that was more MTV's fault for hyping it than Lionsgate. Like you said, it can't be worse than Summit's poor attempt at realizing the Twilight books, which I love and watch regardless of the shitty effort. Is it bad I'm already wondering why Katniss' eyes aren't more gray in the trailer? Wasn't that how they were described in the book? I can't decide if I'm being too picky or if Summit has taught me it's best to ignore those pesky little things in books called details so I should just leave it alone and be happy with what I get.

  20. @Nifer & Kelly B - that's gonna be a nice birthday present!!

@AllTwiedUp - Clitoner... SNORT! Love it. Can't wait to see you too!!

@getinthecar - There was a movie poster I came across that looked exactly like the Twilight movie posters too. They shouldn't bother - this movie will be epic if they do it right and there will be no need to jump on Twilight's bandwagon.

  21. I know girl! I am SUPER excited for The Hunger Games movie(s)!! Those books were so perfect. And a great fandom too (with so many twi-fans ;)

  22. I cannot wait!!!! I read all three HG books in 36 hours - they were AWESOME. I am glad I didn't waste 3 hours and my last remaining brain cells to watch the MTV show because that wasn't even a teaser - it was like some footage that the Director took as he was scouting locations in the backwoods of NC.

I am keeping my hopes high for Lions Gate and hope they don't screw with HG like Summit did with Twilight.

  23. So in love with these books. It kills me. It's like Twilight all over again. My poor husband ;-) Someone referenced the fandom. I have been trying to find HG fanfic for some time and I'm getting nowhere. I found some C2s but they didn't help. Just a bunch of "T" stuff. I follow the sites I can on Twitter but if anyone could help me get involved in the fandom I'd really appreciate it!

  26. What @Rikki_DD said. I NEED the boy with the bread. Just typing that makes my heart all fluttery... gah, I love Peeta. Dear @TwiKiwi50... TEAM PEETA! xoxo :)

Can't wait for this movie. Srsly, what are we going to do when BD2 and THG movies are all done? *sadface*

  27. I am super excited about this movie too...I hope, hope, hope Lionsgate gets it right. I've only read a few HG fics, mostly ones by Twific authors but I have a feeling the movie will change that fast and there I go deep into another fandom (HP is owning me right now).

  28. I'm so excited about this movie.
The books are great & the movie was filmed in my area. A co-worker even told me their kid will be in the movie as an extra.

  29. Ok so me and Jess (LuvsMeSumEdward) watched this after getting home from the 100 Monkeys show... annnd after it was over, we were like "That's it?!?!?!" But now watching it again, I'm getting sofa king excited. I need to read these books again! I feel like I rushed thru them to see what happened..just like Twilight. Maybe you will have to change Twitarded to Hungtarded after Twilight is over *sniffle*

TEAM PEETA!!!!! I LOVE ME SUM CARBS.

  31. I'm so excited for this movie! Just finished listening to the audiobooks for the second time.

    The teaser was.... meh...

My one major worry for the movie is Lenny Kravitz as Cinna. WTF??! Who's epically bad decision was that??

  32. My two favorite subjects, Twilight and Hunger Games. Actually I never would have read it if it weren't for JJ's endorcment. Scary, right? There should be a parental warning on anything she recommends. But I gave it a shot and loved it!!!! I'm actually pushing those I know into reading it, lending out my books on good faith that they'll return unharmed. So far... they haven't copme back. I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

Check out Mockingbird.net. Great Hunger Games blog.

  33. I CANNOT wait! I devoured these books just like I did Twilight. It's good to know that Scummit won't be making these! I'll have to get my sister a copy of the books so I have someone to go to the midnight show with me!

  34. I think I just peed my pants!!!!!

    I'm sofa king excited too!!!

It's almost (I said almost) like when I was waiting for Twilight to come out...except I already have a Mockingjay tattoo, so I'm kinda ahead of myself on that one, but yeah...kinda like that.

I need to re-read the books, if I can get my head outta fan fic long enough.

  35. Super cranked for HG flick-thanks for the release date! Count down for BD! Headboard scene-oh yeah!

  36. The teaser could have been a little more of a tease, but as I'm still excited. Ya know, with a little more effort and it would be on, type of excitement! lol

  37. Collins writes action well and the pages started turning with abandon. However, there was still the nagging doubt about whether the central concern I have would be resolved. I have to unfavorably compare the book to _Lord of the Flies_ and the Harry Potter books. Both authors found novel and interesting ways to solve a problem Collins was not, in my opinion, able to - exploring the psychology of children in fantastic events. The story is interesting, once she tells it.
