It All Began in a Meadow

Normally I don't get warm, fuzzy feelings for anything relating to the outdoors. I'm a delicate lady (STOP LAUGHING!) and I prefer to steer clear of nature. However, I do get all nostalgic when it comes to the meadow in Twilight.

Over a hundred of you are probably packing for Forks right now. Some of you may be thinking about possibly starting the planning stages for packing more or less an hour before your plane takes off. You are women after my own heart. I doubt any of the Forks-bound will be reading this tonight, so I seriously considered just posting "blah blah blah sparkle peen blah blah blah," but I'm not trying to get fired. (I've got a ton of money invested in the Twitarded 401k plan and it's a pain in the ass to roll that over.)

I thought it would be nice to revisit the place where this whole crazy Twilight thing started. It started with a dream about a meadow... and snowballed from there.

Some of us won't be going to Forks, and I thought it would be fun to watch Twilight together instead of stewing in our jealousy. I'll be watching the first movie Thursday night (much to Mr. TK's chagrin) at 9pm central time-ish. (I'm always late, so feel free to pop the popcorn without me.) I'll be on Twitter with my usual snark and it would be great if anyone not trudging through the Pacific Northwest could join me. It's like "movie night with Bella," but more fun. Hopefully. Since there is no Forks for us, I thought we could all hashtag (#) our tweets with #onlyspoons. I'll do a reminder post on Thursday evening. If I remember.

Whether you are staying or going, above all

  1. Wow, I can actually hear the crickets. It will be lonely in Twitardia this week. Movie night with you sounds lovely but I am a Twitter fail, as you know. I'm getting kind of nostalgic for a reread of the books again. It's been long enough now that I don't have it all memorized. Think I'll dive back into them.

  2. I found myself buried with work and another bout of insomnia, so I decided to reread Twilight this past week as a distraction.
I figured it was something I had read once (or seven) before, and that I could put it down easily. I was hooked again. I read the whole thing cover to cover in a day and a half.

  6. I put the audio books on my iPod last week and listened to it everywhere. I got to the baseball game and my damn iPod died. It won't take a charge. I'm going to have to break down and actually READ the thing!

  7. :(...I'll be working until 10:30 Central time. I'm already in the PNW, so I'll wave at all the twitards as the planes come in. @Lila, did you do the audio books from the CD? I did that, and it's all a mash of Chapt. ones, twos, etc.

  8. What a great idea TK! Although I wish you and everyone who is going to watch were going to be in Forks instead. Have fun!

  9. I haven't started packing yet, but I have thought about making a list of what to pack. I think I made one last year, so I hate to do double work. Maybe I'll look for that list tomorrow.

@TexasKatherine, we all know you'll be watching dwarf porn after you watch Twilight! I'mma be expecting to see you tweet about that!

  10. @SpunkyBookworm My mom bought the CD's and I ripped them to MP3 files with Audio Grabber. I did have to make a special playlist for each book on iTunes and make sure it's not on shuffle. It works great and I can "read" the book when I'm doing my morning walk or washing dishes or even driving around doing errands. I love it.

  12. Aaand now I haz my first sad about Forks. @tk not going. :( I was really looking forward to meeting you & deeply offending you with my choice of footwear. I'm sorry you won't be there and am assuming it is because you have a very good reason (like a date with a certain delicious british peen) for standing us all up & so I will forgive you (if you tweet pictures). ;)

  13. I'm clearly not going to Forks, but neither am I going to be able to join the watchalong as I will be at work (Friday afternoon here).

@Smitten_RPattz and I decided that Twitter could be the pity-party central while the other h00rs are in Forks, so we thought we would use a snappy, easy to remember, roll off the tongue hashtag of #PitypartybecausewerenotattheForksparty. That won't take up many characters of a tweet at all.

  14. :( I'm in the wrong hemisphere so Thursday night there is sometime Friday here in Australia. I'll be likely hanging with my two year old son, who, mind you, has seen Twilight more times than I care to mention.. ;)

If you remember to post that reminder post I may just be able to join in, sounds like good times!

  15. OK, 9:00 Central would be 10:00 Eastern, which means I'll be going to sleep around midnight. I have to be up at 5:30 to make sure muggledaughter gets out the door on time, but if I make Friday a reading-and-educational-TV day for muggleson, I can go back to bed.

    WOOHOO--I'm in!

  16. Once again, so sad that you aren't going, TK. One day I need to meet you.

Am I still invited to #onlyspoons if I'm going to Forks? My flight isn't until Friday morning. I promise not to mention it!

  17. @mugglemom08--We can be sleep-deprived zombies together.

@My After Car--Yes, you can participate. Jsyk, your cute newborn is the only reason you're getting in. I expect her to tweet too. ;)

  18. I'm not going but am on a totally different time zone to all of you guys but I will still try and watch Twilight on Thursday night. Any excuse really!!

  19. It's like movie night with Bella, but more fun. LMAO! So true.

Watching Twilight with all of you sounds like a good way to eases the depression that I can't go.

But it'll make up for it if I get to watch Robward walk into the cafeteria all dressed in black and looking dangerous and pale. That and the biology scene where they showcase his pale biceps and nervous/hungry expression. Yeah, I'd say it's a good way to spend a evening. Once I get my brats to sleep (which consists of shouting, crying, and threats) I'm going to collapse in my easy chair and tune in with you ladies.

  20. Strange - I started reading the Twilight Saga again on my nook this past weekend. Maybe because BD1 is coming out soon and I felt nastalgic. I haven't watch the movie in a long time and watching Thursday sounds like a good idea!

  21. Like likeitlemony, I am a total twitter fail, but I'm gonna give it another shot for this. I don't expect a ton of success, though, as I will be drowning my lack of Forks sorrows in a bottle or 5.

  22. @TK, she can bang on the keyboard and tweet with you while Mama drinks her wine. Keep her occupied for me, will you? ;)
