Where Did All the Comments Go?

In the beginning, JJ would write a post and I would leave a comment. Then I would write a post and JJ would leave a comment. Sometimes we would leave each other multiple comments, since nobody else was throwing in their two cents. And it was good. Later, other people stumbled across our blog and they left comments, too. And we rejoiced. Life was good. Years passed. And as often happens, things changed.

We expected a decline at some point, truly. People move on, things change, all good things must come to an end, yada yada yada.

But what I am really trying to say here is that all of us - Jenny Jerkface, Latchkey Wife, Texas Katherine, and yours truly are all bummed about the lack of comments lately. Really. We've started wondering if it was us - did we do something? Too many fart jokes? Not enough Twilight? Is this the beginning of the end of our community?

We just want you to know that your comments matter. YOU MATTER. The community matters. Really, really matters. Please don't ever think that you don't. If you think we don't read your comments or don't look forward to them, you are sorely mistaken. Your comments motivate us to keep writing. They are like Christmas morning and sunshine and puppies and all that good shit that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy all wrapped up together (except for your comments, random trolls - you are more like Mondays and hairballs and other icky things).

And remember, every time someone reads the blog and doesn't leave a comment, Jenny Jerkface kills a kitten.

Don't let THIS be your fault!

As we've said since we started this blog back in 2009 - Comments are our life now. Leave one! Save the kittens!

  3. I usually read on my phone from which commenting is a nightmare. I'll type out some well-crafted snark and it either gets eaten by my phone or blogspot* or both. Then sometimes it just locks the fuck up. I'm too lazy/drunk to figure it out/repost/walk to my real computer, so the comment ends with me. But I read every post and sometimes even talk out loud to myself about them.

If it makes you feel any better, in an uncharacteristically dedicated manner I got out of my bed to come type this up on the desktop. Naked. It's pretty gross.

*Also posting on blogspot requires me to jump through a bunch of hoops, like logins and those increasingly unreadable CAPTCHAs, even on the desktop. Anyone else?

Aaaand I didn't know Blogger used Captcha. I HATE Captcha! Will definitely look into seeing if we can make that go away. We've really tried to make the comments more user-friendly, but shit - doesn't seem to be working out so well...

  4. Sorry for the lack of comments. I've been reading in Google reader and am lazy. Still loving the yet-to-be-renamed-blog. It brings me joy, ya'll.

  8. Oh noes! I love you guys! Don't stop writing! I'm guilty of becoming a lurker lately, reading on the go and on my phone. My iPhone hates commenting here for some reason. I'll be a better fangirl, I promise. :) I LOVE YOU H00RS.

  9. @tiffanized- I'm with you. While I'm not currently naked, I am often pertwixed by the CAPTCHAs. Just checking to make sure I'm not a robot, my ass. I'd have to be a robot or supernatural to make out what that says.

I'm just coming back after months gone ( i have a weird life- was camping in the jungle in west Africa for a couple of months- no interwebs there). Last time I was here was just before the Forks Round II trip. But now I'm trying to read the last several months to catch up and I was surprised as how many fewer comments there were. Surprised and concerned. So, I can only imagine how our fear/tact/filter-less leaders are feeling...

I'm not a Time Waster online, as a rule. Twitarded is the only blog I read. Had I not been galavanting both years, I would have come to FOOOORKS. I want this to continue being here and being a refugium. (there's a blog name...defined as "an area in which organisms can survive through a period of unfavorable conditions". Like a bad day at work? Life?)

So, everyone comment! Show them we need our Twitarded/World of Waffle/Age Inappropriate/ (and some other ones I liked while just reading Feb 29th request for name suggestions, but which I can't now remember)!!!!

I wanted to suggest Whoah is (not) me, but I see that's taken by a Keanu Reeves fansite?!?!?! WTF? I'm going back to the jungle.

I love you, and I don't say that often. But if tonight's post can't elicit 100+ comments, we don't deserve you.

    2. I was looking for gorilla poop, natch. What else do people do in west Africa? My extensive feces collection (displayed in a shadow-box style coffee table with a glass top)did not have any primate representatives, so like the the turd trophy hunter I am, I needed me some silverback dung.

75% of the above is true.

  11. Hi ladies, first time commenting here but have been lurking since Fall 2009 when discovering your site after watching the 1st Twilight movie. I kid you not when I say that this is one of my favorite websites that I`ve been following every single day for the past 2.5 yrs. Seriously, I haven´t missed one single post! I don´t know about the rest of the readers here but to me JJ, TK, LW and STY have become such an integral part of my life that my day is not complete until I come here to read what you ladies are up to. You make my freaking day!!! Please don`t stop posting and if this site ever comes to an end just let us know and I`ll follow you anywhere, that`s a promise. Greetings from Mexico.

Ok one lame explanation coming up I read your blog first thing every morning at work ( you post about 5/6 am my time i am at work at 7) it seems our stupid IT folks blocked the comments section for good I can read but not write. Sometimes though I endeavour to fiddle with my IPhone for a half Hour to write a few words HARD WORK! At night when I get home it's old news everything's been said and done :( so there. ;)

  13. i'm sorry. i'm guilty of reading and not commenting often. i have horrible grammar and i know how you all hate that. i fully expect that this comment will be made fun of for my bad grammar.

i've often said and believe that even my tweets need a beta, i'm that bad at writing,

i hate that twitarted isn't getting a lot of comments lately. i haven't because of my bad grammar and........the fact that you want to change this blog to a non twilight blog.

i'm kind of confused about what that means. i want you all to keep commenting on twilight and rob and kristen. we've got BD2 coming up! and there are so many other things to be excited about! On the Road, Bel Ami, Snow White and the Huntsman, Cosmopolis.

i'm sorry i haven't commented lately, but jsyk, your blog has introduced me to a lot of amazing women that i love. so thanks for that!

    1. We make fun of poor grammar all the time, but never in the comments - that would be like making for of poor grammar in a text. which we would only do to people we don't like, not our Twitarded family! : )

And when we say we want to move to a non-Twilight blog, never fear - we will still have a lot to say about Twilighty stuff when it happens and all the related things, too. I honestly don't expect there to be huge changes other than the name, really. : )

I think a few things have happened. I've taken to reading blogs in a reader and I've forgotten my blogger password because it's linked to another email address other than the one that I normally use.

The origins of "Twat Waffle"? It came from the infamous "Creative Cursing" mix-n-match profanity generator years ago. Aaaaand like a lot of random things, it just stuck. Er, I'm not sure it means anything other than the fact that we are a bunch of silly gits. That explanation may or may not be helpful. Likely the latter. Two points for effort?

I admit that I am not been a constant commenter but I will tell you that I AM A CONSTANT READER - EVERY DAY!am a constant reader! I never miss your blog! If I am without a computer for several days I go back and read past posts!

That said I have to admit that the only time I do not read your blog is when you are posting chapters of fanfics (Oso Bella) because I do not read work in progress fanfics. I only read them when they are complete.

That being said I want all of you to do the following:

Take your right hand and put it on your left shoulder.

  28. Love the blog! Have been reading 2-3 years now. You guys are the one site I check every day. Love you guys!! I'm just too lazy to respond sometimes or most of the times.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I post occasionally but I read your blog (and only your blog) every day. LOVE IT!!!

Here are some reasons why sometimes I don't post (in descending order):
Captcha on the iPhone = KMN
Sometimes the "Comment as:" section doesn't allow me to use "Name/URL" or "Anonymous." This wouldn't bother me except my newly retired grandmother is also an internet lurker and I'm afraid she'll come across some of my depraved er, "past times."
You h00rs generally post the things I'm thinking and it seems juvenile to simply post "OMG YOU ARE SOOOO RIGHT!!!"

Put the gun down JJ, save it for the idiots who called the Pre-Hunger Games Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 a "trailer." That wasn't a trailer, that was a "how can we piss off Twilight fans more than we already have?"

  30. Guilty as charged. I read your blog every day, but rarely comment. The Reader on my phone makes it easy to read blogs. Most times I try to actually go to a blog & comment from my phone the comment is eaten.

Wow. I feel like that kid drooling on his desk while Bueller's teacher takes roll call. I'm here! I'm here! Although I am definitely guilty of not commenting often. Typically because I don't feel like I have a witty or worthwhile enough comment to add and then I just become that friend that you wish would just shut the fuck up every time she opens her mouth. Am I the only one who has people like that in my circle (by association only, I swear)?

Maybe I will just starting leaving the comment "present" on every post like you guys are my band manager, Murray.

  33. You had me at 'your comments matter', but NO, then you had to go and threaten the kittens. WTF? That was low, very low. But yeah, here I am grovelling and giving excuses, because your methods obviously were very effective....gah attention hoor much? ;) Anyway, I ALWAYS read the blog, religiously, like breathing, or using the bathroom, or telling my kids to leave me the fuck alone...it's part of my routine. Unfortunately, I always seem to be in a hurry these days...no time to think of a witty and worthy comment....because of all the dumb shit I'm forced to do in a day. If I'd been born wealthy I'd have time to post a truckload of pithy comments, believe me.

Anyway, don't go anywhere. Don't pack up your toys and leave, I for one am mighty glad you're here whether you're talking about Twilight, or bats invading your homes (one of my favorites lol). Love you all, mean it, now quit whining and back away from the kittens damn it. xoxo

  34. As with @Tiffanized and @Banshee713 and all you others my phone won't let me comment. It seems to have gone a go slow with regards to commentin on all blogs, not just blogger blogs. sucks donkey balls.

But I read you all the time. Sometimes when I'm sad and weary, I'll just turn to Twitarded and y'all fix everything. well, not literally, but you sure make me feel better.

I will NEVER abandon Twitarded, no matter what you call yourselves and no matter what you talk about!!!! I shall DIE FIRST. Again, not literally, but you get the idea. Also, I am gaining a reputation for excellent stalking, so know if you stop blogging I will hunt you down and force you to continue by torturous methods including day long Bieberthons (this may not work for STY, but I'll find a way MWAHAHAHAHAHA)

  35. THIS makes me feel better - thanks for taking the time to comment today. And saving the kittens. For now.

And jftr, I've also bee guilty of starting to write out a comment on another blog and then deleting it and getting on with my day (read: getting back to the work I should be doing) because I didn't thing it was funny enough or good enough and I didn't have the time to craft the PERFECT comment. Lately I've been trying to just leave them anyway, just to let people know I was there - I think that's the more important part! You may have noticed that we are not exactly striving for perfection here - more like meh-ing our way toward mediocrity, some days. But I have never ever said "Wow *that's* a really lame comment!" (er, unless it was spam or came from one of the rare random taint nuggets who occasionally feel compelled to tell us that they think we are a bunch of fat, dumb looooooosers). Do with that what you will.

  40. I thought it was just me that could not ready those wavy prove-you're-human letters. Hate em. I read every day. Am thrilled to see Twilight stuff (the 40ish man who installed my new doors yesterday told me he had a Chihuahua named Cullen...and to make a long story short, turns out he and his wife have a picture of Edward and Bella in their bedroom, tho, unlike her, he does not wear something Twilight related every day, but does dream constantly of taking the family to Forks. He was so excited that I had actually been there he could hardly stand it.)
But I am very very happy to read anything, although on some days I do wonder what it would be like if there were men who commented now and then. But as some of today's semi-lurkers Snarky flushed out attest, we are all devotedly reading and often can't think of anything witty to say (esp. compared to the posts themselves.)

  50. And here I am trying to think of something snarky to say. The pressure....yeah can't think of anything. I do check twitarded everyday, I'm addicted. Please know we're here. Loving it. Everyday.

  51. Still reading - not commenting. Sorry bout the pussy.

  52. I'm going to use my 3 month old son as my excuse. He's real useful like that...

I've also been reading as much Twilight fanfiction as I possibly can before my maternity leave ends. Just finished The Fallout by OCDindeed. Effing EPIC!

Don't feel unlov-ed. I still read faithfully, just haven't been commenting. Sorry ladies. XOXO

  53. Ok, I guess I can take the time away from my busy schedual (read very boring schedual) to leave a message... JJ - NO KILLING KITTENS! They are cute, they are cuddly, kittens are our friends. Hope you all are having a good hump day!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love you guys so much and have absolutely no idea what I've been doing with my time rather than reading and commenting. I just know that I have a big ole Twitarded-sized hole in my heart and now a kitten must die. I hang my head in shame and promise to keep up my end of the bloggy partnership better. Miss you and talk to you soon!! XO

    1. We are guilty too - but there are a lot fewer blogs to comment on these days (I don't even know where some people have gone lately!) - love you too and am glad to see you here! xo

  55. Yeah - I'm a lurker. Really don't have much to say but I do check out the blog out almost everyday. I get good book reviews (Leviathan - tried to get the kids to read it but failed), music (awesome recs), great fanfic stories and how to make some nasty ham. Will try to leave some boring comment so the kittens don't die. They are cute. Besides, it took me months to figure out how to post, so tech challenged am I.

  56. You guys cannot go anywhere! I may not leave alot of comments but I read the blog everyday!

Oh Jenny, please no more kittens!:P

P.s. When r we all gonna bust a jerkface in Rob's trailer somwhere?

  57. Well I know I'm one who hasn't commented for such a long time. Not sure when I stopped or why....but rest assured I am still with you, still consider myself a member of the Twitarded community, and am still reading (sometimes more voraciously than others, however.) I still love you all! Mwah!

  58. I discovered your blog a couple of years ago and I have been an avid reader/fan/commiserator (I don't think that's a word) ever since. I actually just posted my first comment only about a week or so ago in response to the "green jeans saga." If it'll make you guys happy, I'll get to it a little more often. I guess I always thought the people making comments were more people you "actually" knew, but who says we can't be friends? : ) And, please, Myg... I NEED Reckoner!!! Sending happy-webfriends-nonstalkertype thoughts your ways...

    1. Comment away! We're all friends here. To be totally honest, there are a lot of ladies that met in the comments here and have become fast friends in real life. Which I think is the fucking shit. :)

  59. I have also been lacking in the comment department lately. Actually, I've been lacking in pretty much any type of social interaction lately. I can't remember the last time I was on Twitter - except to reply to a tweet asking where I was! Work and school have been major time sucks lately - but that's no excuse. Twitarded is my homepage (has been for a few years now...), I still read everything you write - and I do not see that changing anytime soon! I love you guys, and all of the friends I've made here online and in Fooorks!! I'll try harder to leave my love more often. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. You are special! You are loved! Don't stop writing! I have written a few times but mostly I am a lurker because I read Twitarded while I am at lunch. Still, I have read all of your blog posts and I love Twitarded. Don't go anywhere!

  61. That's the cutest kitty picture EVER and you girls are the funniest bitches EVER.

  62. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! YOU'RE AALLLLLLLLIIIIVVVVEEE!!!

We're like little old grandmas sometimes, I swear. We don't hear from you and we get worried and think you ran off with some circus clown or something. Or you're stuck in jail.

    And clowns are scary.

Also? We just think you guys are absolutely amazing.

I'll let the kitties that I've been collecting all day out of the basement now.

    1. Thanks for saving the kittens, people!

I am going to go to sleep with a big smile on my face tonight, after reading all this... Also, people don't like it when kittens are threatened - I am tucking that away for future use. j/s.

  63. To everyone who can't comment on their phone - I hear you! WTF, smartphone? You can give me directions to the nearest massage parlor that gives happy endings (theoretically) but you can't let me leave a fucking comment? Bollocks.

To all the lurkers - HIIIIIII!!! Nice to meetcha. I hope you stick around. :)

Oh, and CAPTCHAS can suck my taint.

  64. I'll try this one last time...I typed a response 2 times this AM and they both bombed. That's one of the major reasons I don't reply. That and I'm fairly boring (except in my own head) or what I would say has already been said multiple times over.
That being said, I've been reading (yes, mostly lurking, with a handful of responses) for a couple of years now. I read every post and love the ones that either have me laughing til tears are running down my face or my kids look at me like I'm crazy.
Keep posting for all your readers. I promise to respond more (yes, I'll even get off the smartphone and use the laptop like I am now *gasp*).

  67. another longtime lurker here . . . .i love your blog! Like so many others, I love the things you share and you brighten my day! I don't get a lot of time to spend online with kids, job and life being busy but I always read twitarded. now let the kitties go. xoxo

  68. I've been reading your blog for what seems like years, laughing so hard sometimes I cried and my sides hurt. I check this site every day. I sincerely apologize, i've never left a comment. Oh, I've quoted you to my friends, my kids and on my Facebook page....I beg forgiveness. There are times when your blog goes days without a new post and I...get...depressed. You guys are HYSTERICAL! I don't care if what your discussing is Twilight, female/male genitalia, porn or (one if the funnier posts) suffering from post partum. You make me smile, check out new music and say potty words. Keep it up!!!
PS: I'm not a fun of cats, but no need to go killing kitties - you are loved by total strangers around the world.

  69. this blog is my happy place...reading this blog is the very last thing that I do before I go to bed every night. i read through reader, on my phone. if it is a great post and I want to see what people are saying I pop over to your real site. sadly, almost every time I try to reply to a post i type out some long winded comment and blogger/android eats it and I loose interest in swyping any more shit out, figuring you probably didn't need any extra comments anyway... for you, and the kittens, i will put more effort into commenting as a thank you for taking the time to keep pumping out the fresh posts each day.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Awww you guise!!! Sorry to have been such a slack ass lately, but real life is a dirty bitch these days! I pinky swear that I still check in daily and giggle, snort, piss myself through your posts. I vow to be a better Twitard and leave more comments. Anything to save a kitten and make you bitches happy! Because I love you h00rs...hard!!!!

  71. Please, please, don't kill that cute kitten JJ! I'm an eternal lurker and the reason I don't post is because English isn't my first language, you are all supercool and funny and I'm not, so you'll have to agree with me on the fact that posting in a foreign language when you are not cool is never a good combination. But please know that I visit this site daily and I laugh myself to sleep with your witty posts. The subject matter is of no importance, although I have to confess that Twilight and Rob is what drew me here in the first place. But as long as you keep posting everything is right in the world. Long live Twitarded! Love you guys! Anabel

  72. Life has just gotten out of hand and I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with everything. Hubs has been in Sweeden for the past seven weeks(he chickened out calling Sweden Sarah bugger) and new job that keeps me running around like my hair is on fire. I still love the blog and I promise that I'll try to drop by more often.

  73. Spare the pussy, JJ! Okay, I lurk mostly and comment every once in awhile. I read the blog everyday and yes, I fail at commenting most days...but I'm here. Sometimes I'm not feeling comment-y or that I cant put in words what I would like to say. Sounds funny in my head....

Do you have any idea what you have done to me and my life? Besides the BDB books, Twitter and now Draw Something. Im waiting for the day someone in RL to ask me about Fifty. I already use that shampoo, but I was in CVS last week looking for the buy one get one special but it seems to be in Walgreens this week.

I think of you all often....like when I see my twitarded bracelet or t-shirt, when my daughter wears her "forks" shirt or when I wear mine ...just Last week I made Jello with my daughter (last time I had jello was in forks) It's quite often that something reminds me of you or Myg, TK or JJ or any other twat waffles I met last year.

Geesh, The head banner photo of my FB page is a picture that I took in the Hoh Forest. See...undying devotion or madness not really sure.

I wish there was a twatwaffle closer to me so we could get together.

  75. I haven't commented much and definitely not much lately. Sorry! I read your blog almost every day - it helps get me through work without ripping customers' lungs out. What I especially like to do is read while they are whining about some customer-service-y thing. I'm in kind of a blah spot in my life so I haven't said much lately. I will try to be more diligent as I am only reading your blog and one other one these days. Thanks for not giving up on us!!!!! You guys are NOT allowed to quit!! Ever!!!

  76. I've been a lurker for maybe 2&1/2 or 3 years, love you guys. I sometimes get distracted for a while(I have a 3&1/2 year old daughter and an 11 month old son, not to mention a crazy stressful life)but I always go back and catch up on all the posts I missed. Your blog is one of my absolute favourites, you can cheer me up even when I'm having one of those days when falling on a sword looks like a good plan. I can't promise to comment all the time, but I can say with certainty that I'll be reading and enjoying!

  77. I think I should be commended because my first thought was to leave a comment telling JJ to shoot that fuzzy little mother fucker. Instead, I'm going to reiterate the 111 comments made before mine and say even though I don't say it often any more I love you JJ, STY, LKW and TK. You are all amazing, talented women that have literally changed my life for the better and no matter how little I comment right now you will always have a special place in my heart. I told @AllTwiedUp a few months ago that I was ignoring people for their benefit not my own and it was the truth. Trust me, encouraging the execution of kittens is a vast improvement to my mood. There, I hope you're happy now because that's about all the lovey dovey crap I can stand.

  78. Love you twatwaffles!! Just haven't posted a commented since my Twichotic obsession lessened a bit and I started doing everything else I put on hold from Twlight to New Moon movies. Actually, I've been thinking of JJ lately b/c I just moved to CT and take the train in to the city for my job. 1.15 hrs on the train, so I get to experience some of the crazies and smells JJ has referred to. The last post about the moaner-groaner had me laughing so hard that I think ppl thought I was one of the crazies on the train.

And I'm just about to get a copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I get my music and book rec from you guys!!
    Keep posting!! Save the kittens!!

  80. i flove you ladies(i use this term loosely)lol I have been stalking this site since the craziness that is twilight hit my radar way back when. my husband even loves reading your posts for the most part. i don't normally post comments cause i have nothing witty to say, or most of the shit i would say would leave most if not all of you scratching your heads going what the mother fuck is she trying to say. kinda like now. but annnnyyy way. regardless i will be a faithful reader as long as there is something to read from you. much <3 and boobie squeezes.

  81. DO NOT GET RID OF CAPTCHA! It sucks, but so does 10,000 spam emails from Russia. I had to clean out a bb site at work... It was not fun.

And I have been failing at commenting mostly because of new job, no time, lazy, nothing clever to say and the new commenting format. I love that you can comment on comments, but it tends to east my posts even more than the old version did.

But I vow to comment at least twice a week. Cause after realizing I hadn't read the blog for a whole week I realized I really have to get my priorities straight. This is even more important than FF. Cause you ladies rock and have made my life incredibly awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Aww this made me sad. I don't have as many comments anymore either, and you guys are way way way bigger than my lil blog. I think it's just due to time...a lot of us don't read the blog posts everyone does as religiously as we used to. Also, there hasn't been a lot of Twi news lately...

We love you! And I love non Twi blog posts, just as much as Twi blog posts.

And anyone who hesitates to comment because English is your second language... please don't. English is my first and only language and I can barely conquer it. I applaud you for knowing multiple languages. Wish I had the time and desire to learn another language.

Welcome back all... I'm glad you saved the kitties. For realz. I've missed you guys.

  86. Jenny Westside better not kill a kitten because of me or I'll shank a bitch. (that's her new nickname from me. She thinks it sounds badass so it's staying)

Anyway yeah I suck. I don't comment much anymore and sometimes I realize days have gone by where I haven't read your posts...or anyone's posts so I have to play mad catch up. Hell, I haven't even posted on my own blog since like October. I suck at life and I fully intend on getting better. But it's not you, it's me. I still love you ladies and think you're the best h00rs on Planet Earth. Not a day goes by where I'm not thankful for you and everyone in this awesome group of people. *hugs and ass grabs*

  88. Better late than never? I hope I've spared a kitten. I get lazy, a lot, it happens. I do read... went on a comment kick a few weeks back but then got lazy again. I am here though, to only save the kittens, naturally. Don't take my personal laziness as lack of reading, I suck sometimes(which can ironically be a good thing in certain situations, not when I'm too lazy to comment.. that's no good). I'll keep commenting if I can will myself out of laziness :)

Like I said earlier in my comment-spam, I've taken to reading Twitarded via Flipboard on my iPad and I hate commenting via that platform. Hence today's massive catchup comment-spam-a-lot!

I still flove you gals. It must be more than two years now since I stumbled across your lil blog and I am truly thankful for the day I did. Afterall, you're responsible for so many things in my life:

    *Amazing friends +++++++
    *Increased IT knowledge (srsly)
*A wee taste of stardom when I guest-posted
*ZOMG, the greatest five weeks of my life, during which I met Jackson, spoke to LKW on the phone, went to Forks, and, oh yeah, HAD AN AMAZING TIME.

Like I'd ever not be reading. I'm one step short of tattooing your fucking logo on my forehead.
