Kristen Stewart for Balenciaga: Discuss

So this new Kristen-Stewart-for-Balenciaga ad came out today. I guess the highest paid actress in America needed a lil' side gig for some mad money - hey, room service is pricey! Or maybe she just liked the dress because it's fancy and short and it also has pockets, and you know that you really can't beat pockets in a cool dress. Pockets! What's not to love?? I just bought a great new dress with pockets, too! It looks just absolutely nothing like this:

I am kind of mixed on this look - I mean, yes, she's gorgeous. But they did kind of make her look a little alien-y. Or zombie-ish. C'mon - she hasn't looked this pale in any of the "after"-Bella stills I have seen for BD2! I don't know; maybe it's the black detail down the front of the dress that just says "cadaver" to me. I am sure that this dress costs more than my car and an ounce of the perfume would set me back enough to have me eating ramen noodles for dinner every night for a month, but meh.

Still wrapping my head around the shoes. I guess this is the platform-super-heel backlash? I have always has a soft spot for clunky black shoes...

Thoughts???

  1. Maybe I'm not hip enough to get this (read: too old) but the hair is meh and wtf is up wIth the shoes? Little goth school girl?? Why not some great pumps to show off her mile long legs? But what do I know?

(btw never been first to comment before...kinda exciting!)

    1. If you're "not hip enough" you are in amazingly good company. j/s.

  2. I am so not impressed. They made her look fuggley.

  3. Oh no no no. The styling on this is all wrong, even if the dress is haute. Take it from me, a veteran Project Runway and ANTM viewer. That dress wanted a sleek bun, fillinuit, dark brows, a nude eye, and a strong red lip, with chunky suede rounded toe heels. WHY doesn't anyone - Summit, Balenciaga - consult with me?!

    1. *filled in. WTF is fillinuit, autocorrect?!

    2. you are so spot-on! i scrolled back up and envisioned all your changes and BAM! it would have been perfect.

I think I am also kind of bothered by the fact that her knees have been rendered nearly invisible. She had Barbie legs.

    3. Hahahahaha!! Autocorrect strikes again.

  4. This is kind of like when 2 beautiful people make an ugly baby. I'm not sure how this happened. It's as if I'm having an acid trip while watching Beauty & the Beast. She looks like a psychedelic Mrs. Pots.

  5. I must be too poor to get it. I'm puzzled by the hip region...I don't...kinda looks like a Russian nesting doll sprouted legs and robot feet?? The hair, the face, the whole thing doesn't do her justice.

    1. YES! i have been trying to figure out what's up with the shape of that dress - and actually the whole thing has a very Russian-Faberge-egg kinda thing going on. The shoulders are all wonked out, too. I don't understand couture (i'm glad I gave up reading things like "Vogue" a long time ago).

  6. Even thou I think Kristen is a hot gal, her hotness dose'nt save this add.

Feels like a "trip" gone bad. I like the dress, I digg the shoes...the face/make-up is prudy, the hair and the pose not so much.

Typical perfume add is a gorgeus woman posing with the bottle (holding it, the bottle is somewhere between her leggs so on) so I can see Balenciaga wanted to do something different...but the art department didn't have enough time to think it trough?

It would look so much better if she would be posing with those crazy cardboard cut-out flowers... like this http://bit.ly/LhzTR9

You can do it if you're only half hard...

  7. She looks... OK. The shoes are tolerable. That dress is butt ugly. And that shape is either photoshopped or she's wearing Scarlett O'Hara's corset...

The last butt ugly dress she was filmed in was a Balenciaga, also. Seeing a pattern here...

  8. That ad makes her look knobby knee'd and if you use your hand to cover her from the waist up it looks like her front is actually her ass. I don't care what she wears. She could wear a carcass and all I'll ever remember is that she gets to bed Rob.

  9. She looks like a wet dog in a clown costume. Not an attractive look at all. The money must have been gooooood for her to say 'sure, I'll wear that'

  10. This is not a nice look for her. At all. She looks like a zombie. Whoever dressed her/did her makeup was obviously very hungover or bitter.

  11. This ad is like Tim Burton meets Ed Hardy. I don't mind the boots, but the shape they made her body with photoshop (I assume) makes her look like a bottle, which is just weird since she has a great figure. She has looked stunning in so many photoshoots, there must be some reason why they chose to make her look like she just got out of the shower, but it really doesn't do her justice.

  12. It suits her personality, I think. I don't know why everyone goes on about her legs. I find them disturbing. Well, not disturbing but they always remind me of a little girl's. So skinny.

  13. It looks like her face was photoshopped onto a mannequin. It's creepy. But I surely wasn't the audience they were going for, so that must be why I don't get it.

  14. I love everything here BUT, her face. Although she's usually sooooooo beautiful! :/

  15. You can't see it, but yes, your ass does look big in that! Odd, odd, odd. Barbie legs- spot on Sty. Just all looks weird!? Yes it is her look but just not flattering at all.

  16. The waist/hips thing - total Sheneneh (Martin Lawrence's ol character..) ..and what I mean by this is really.. an unflattering big ass
